  • Video tour of my 2018 Ram Promaster City micro camper van that I've outfitted specifically to cover hurricanes as a photojournalist. I've been photographing major storms in the southeastern United States for about nine years -- covering storms like Matthew, Michael, Florence, Irma and Idalia for Getty Images and The New York Times .

My coverage area for storm stretches south to Miami and west to New Orleans.

Hey Sean, super cool van and profession :D What a coincidence, just bought myself a Promaster too, and converting it to my own little micro camper :) Uploaded the first video on Saturday. Stay safe!

New Sub! Happy to find your channel! I'm an independent catastrophe insurance adjuster building a 08 chevy express 3500 extended into a mobile claims command center. I don't find myself in the thick of it like you, but def part of the next day response!! 👍🤙✌

I also have a Ram PMC and love how you outfitted your rig! Such an efficient use of space and really creative organization.
    A few questions:
The synthetic grass looks cool. Is there another reason you are using it besides aesthetics?
Where did you get those olive green bags on the walls? Also - how are you attaching them to the wall?
How do you stay safe during hurricanes?
I recently camped in Nebraska in a huge storm with 7 funnel clouds. Spent the night in the campground bathroom with concrete brick walls. I do have a 'go bag" with a NOAA radio, food, rain gear, and emergency kit. What else would you recommend?

I had a carpet but it was hard to keep clean. I INstalled Molle panels (www.etsy.com/search?q=Molle%20panels&ref=search_bar) for the pouches. I stay safe suring hurricanes by sheltering in parking garage or hotel and not being at landfall on barrier islands cat 2+. I don't chase tornados, so thats not as big a deal. just gotta stay weather aware on the nado forecasts when traveling. My entire van is the go bag but its specific to hurricanes and floods and being off the grid. I'd bring a small bag of rice and a few ziploc bags. rice will pull moisture out of electronics (dont put item in rice) if in same sealed container. ----- if any electronic gear gets wet and stops working.
