@@prophetstaceym It is the same dish, I tried jambalaya in New Orleans in one of those Mississippi cruises, and i thought it would be something exotic, when i looked at the item, and finally taste it. it exactly tasted the same like how my relatives from South Carolina made red rice. The only difference, in the boat tour they added shrimp in the rice, my relatives and later my mom did not add shrimp

You have got to taste at every step of the way. Any good cook tastes all the way through you can't go by smell or feel alone you must taste get out your tastings spoons and taste it at every step of the process! that's why I don't need to have salt and pepper on my table. Any good cook becomes a great cook by tasting!

Shaniqua, I think it's great that you are cooking virtually with your family in Charleston and getting those down home recipes. Please ask your Aunt Lisa if she washed her rice and had it in that second pot before adding to the sauce pot. Also, when she does cook the Red Rice in the oven, how long does she cook it and on what temp? I want to make some Red Rice this weekend and not sure about cooking it in the oven or doing it on the stove-top. Thanks much for this delicious recipe!

It was delicious but everybody used exactly the same ingredients and wasn't going to change anything! I said can I use fresh garlic no no no garlic powder you have to use garlic powder and let it bloom in the tomato sauce. I guess I was told. I will still use fresh garlic ;-)
