20 years ago this man's music came into my life via one song and it set me off on a long journey with just the right sound. Thankyou Michael.
❤️
thank you. He is an international treasure
The word Legend couldn’t be more appropriately used than to describe this man.
This guy would’ve made it big, back in the 60’s, if he had not been plagued with health issues; he’s fantastic.
A great one ☝️
Great for real !
that was raw and great...absolutely fantastic... holy crap!!!!!!!
Still sounding awesome! No-one sounds like Michael Hurley. He's got a unique guitar style and hits those falsetto notes effortlessly.
I saw him play in Edinburgh in the '90's I think. I sat down in the audience and to my surprise, the guy sitting to my left was Michael Hurley. I came to the show because his music was magical to me and he was a sort of mythical figure in my imagination. My brain squirmed with confusion lol. He was cool though and the show was great. It was at the Bongo Club.
When I get back home, I'm going to listen to this 1 more time
I dig that it kind of sounds like he's making this song up as he goes.
This is amazing Michael is one of my favorite artists of all time!!
EU TE AMO HURLEY ❤
Wow! Thanks for that posting!
The most inspiring musician in regards to authentic expression...the man seems to live in his sound. Truly beautiful, massive gratitude for posting this.
Woof woof.
Sincerely,
Guard Dog Records
Great song!
Hope he comes to the Northeast. Afraid I might have discovered him too late. Great video!!!!
Wonderful talent, great song!
Thanks to Kurt Vile and "What's in my Bag" I got to hear of this amazing musician!
makes sense that Kurt Vile would like him, there's a couple of similarities in their songwriting when I come to think of it. Some kind of beautiful and authentic weirdness
The real deal.
Gorgeous playing...
heaven sent !
his guitar is so pretty!
Kay. I think.
@@stevehowell231 It's a KayKraft "Venetian" model made by Stromberg-Voisinet out of Chicago. They also made "Kay Guitars" and many, many, house brand instruments. This is a very eccentric guitar with an adjustable bolt-on neck. Guys who are into early blues music seem to like them.
I think Michael Borrowed this guitar from the studio. He usually plays either a Gibson archtop or a red Harmony "Roy Smeck."
@@namebrandmason I have always fancied an Epiphone Recording. Very similar but a lot more money!
@@namebrandmason Aviva Pilgrim is a luthier ( the Preservation Guitar Company) in Fayetville Arkansas who has a model "#55 Florence" which is modeled after the KayKraft Venetian. By the way, she also plays guitar in a wonderful old-time string band called the Ozark Highballers.
I play “I stole the right to live” every morning for the past 2 weeks since the bastard developer came to demolish the little house on the other side of the fence that was born in 1912. Michael’s tunes stop my crying.
They are true evil bastards, developers
could watch his right hand all day
Watching this a few days away from the New Year and I feel so good!
Been blastin your tunes downtown Sonoma with all my friends and beers brother.. Hog Of thE Forsaken is one of our favs
!
"He is the Pork of Crime."
This is holy
My favourite genius :)
Thanks for this!!!
Beautiful!
This fellow reminds me of me. I mean, just the way he lets that guitar slide when he finds a groove. He and I are probably two of the most underrated guitar players in Vermont and Maine. Ask Nick Losito,. He will tell you the same.
Nick is a damn guitarist as well, in the Burlington , Vermont area.
Amazing song and voice ❤️
This is amazing!
Dang right!
Holy Molio!
I don’t remember that
anyone know the type of guitar? i love the tone
Kay Kraft Venetian Archtop
What's the tuning?
open d?
anyone know what make of a guitar he's playing?
Yeah, my father has the same one.
Hey Feller. Come back to southern Ohio. Stay on the farm.
