Michael Hurley, Rhinefarm Session in the Vineyard at Gundlach Bundschu

- The Rhinefarm Sessions are performances by musicians visiting Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma, California and playing in different unique setting around the ranch. Michael Hurley played the Woody Guthrie classic "Pastures of Plenty," and his own "Boone and Jocko" under a corrugated steel shade structure between blocks of pinot noir vines on Rhinefarm.
Huichica 2015 will be June 12-13.

saw him in boston the other night. tiny, tiny theatre. he had us enthralled. such a nice guy, hung out in the lobby just shootin the shit. he's a friggin national treasure/hero.

i was there! i got him to sign this little strip of brown fabric and at first he refused because it wouldn't work but i stretched it out for him and it was a nice pen.

He really is. I grew up in Portland and had the privilege of going to the same farmer’s market as him. He had small shows there all the time and when I was around 4 I ran across the stage and he laughed it off. He always said hi to my dad and I when he saw us. It was wild and so special to be able to share even that small connection with him and his music. His performances made me fall in love with music.

First Songs is the most under-appreciated album ever made.
If not that, then one of his other albums. I certainly love his stuff as much or more than anything else I've enjoyed in 45+ years of loving music. This video is priceless!

I was looking on a retailers site at other music and searched to see if they had any Michael Hurley on hand. LIVING LJUBLJANA popped up. I hadn't heard of this one. Live performance recorded on DAT in Slovenia from 1995! It was released 2018. I highly recommend it. The sound quality is amazing! Soooo soothing. Great performance with vocal harmonies, an album to cherish.

I bought 'Ancestral Swamp' recently and just can't stop playing it in my car. Words fail me to explain what a great record it is. I urge everyone to buy it!! What a talent.

Last week I found Ancestral Swamp in used records in the centre of Prague. I wasnt familiar with the record but felt I really should buy this one and I did. Its pretty rare to hear something so pure, natural and authentic. I'll probably play it often.

Snock's still a sly musical expeditionary that will take you places you never imagined. Ever since I made a two-sided tape of "Armchair Boogie" and "Have Moicy" when I was in college (almost 30 years ago) I've been a big fan.
