I met Dustin when Walter Etc. had a European tour in 2017. I was so hyped that they came to Croatia, I didn't really expect for that to happen. Before the concert, Dustin was chilling at the merch table so my now ex-gf and I decided to check what they have. She bought a tee and he gave us some stickers, but I had my eye on the Gloom Cruise CD. Unfortunately I didn't have enough money, I had 5 euro and around 35 kuna(local currency), so I got kinda bummed out. So Dustin said "Dude, you can just give me the euros you have and take the CD :)" and proceded to ask me about local currency origin and other stuff about Croatia. He was super nice and chill and probably my favourite interaction with a musician. They also rocked, definately one of my fav concerts.
I really love these guys and I also love Hemingway sooooo much, I feel like they are such an underrated band.
This will probably get lost in the comments, but I just wanted to share my story. :)

I was able to open up for walter Mitty at Kling Thing in Akron as “john ivorgsky and the other guy”
When it was time for us to go on, half the crowd (10 people lol) went to go take a smoke break, but dustin and the whole band stayed and listened to our set

I found out about walter in 2015 from a vine where the person used punk with an "x" for about 5 seconds. Looked up the few lyrics they sang and the rest is history. Dustin/Walter is also like my number 2 or 3 favorite artists of all time after Ben Folds and probably SOAD. Don't know where I'd be without that damn makeshift orchestra!

Wow, last week I happened upon a strange little song called “puddles of alligators” and I fell in love with it and the band. The last thing I expected was a recent documentary made about them but I love this a lot and you did a great job. What a fascinating story
I found Walter Mitty because Community College played on my Spotify. At the time I was graduating from high school and getting ready to have my last normal summer before starting at Cuesta, little did I know at the time but community college was written about where I was going to go to school. The first time I listened to steamboat willie and he referenced Morro bay I damn near shit my pants.
I really feel you on this. My cousin actually applied at Cuesta College after he didn’t get into cal poly haha. He ended up going to Utah though

I don’t know much about this band, but I saw them live and they were incredible! They opened for MOBO at a secret DIY show and everyone seemed to know all the words, maybe more so than they knew Modern Baseball’s. I honestly felt a little out of place not knowing the lyrics since it seemed like everyone around me was singing every song, lol.

I love these dudes so much, I wish more people knew about Dustin bc i seriously think he’s one of the best lyricists of all time I feel like his work will be remembered similar to someone like Nick Drake an artists that at his prime was super underrated but now is considered one of the best singer songwriters of all time. I hope one day the music of Walter Mitty/Walter Etc will remembered this way. Super underrated band
