    Azelaic acid has been a game changer for my rosacea and after a couple of years using the 10% I moved up to 15% on prescription. That also made a big difference, as I had plateaued with the 10% by that time. The 15% seems to be the right percentage for me and I have had no reason to increase any further over the last few years. I have had a fair bit of trial and error with both skincare and spf, but I am able to use some chemical filters. I live in the UK and I use Ultrasun (it's a hybrid long wear formulation) without any irritation. In fact I found mineral filter only spfs really drying on my already dry/eczema prone skin, so some of the newer generation filters are fine for me. US sunscreens are more harsh due to the lack of filters available and I doubt I could use those. Many Asian spf's are very affordable and use newer filters, so it's worth experimenting a little to find something you love. I patch test everything really thoroughly (before putting it anywhere near the centre of my face) and I really recommend everyone with rosacea does so. Best wishes.

  • @SephoraBelle
    @SephoraBelle Před rokem +51

    I suffered from Rosacea and where the products you suggest are very helpful I did end up going to see a Dermatologist. A great deal of Rosacea can be helped enormously too, by using ceramides and peptides to really beef up your own skin barrier, obviously using great Sunscreen is essential. The Dermatologist recommended IPL treatments, I only needed 4 treatments and it was money well spent. It really has helped enormously. IPL is not an instant fix, it will take weeks for the skin to show improvement, and although it's not a cheap procedure ($400 per IPL session), for me it was truly money well spent. My Rosacea was getting progressively worse, so doing IPL was a good choice for me. Only mentioning it as a possible help for those of you who are noticing your Rosacea is getting worse and you've tried a lot of OTC creams and even prescription creams/ointments.

    I started having rosacea flareups about 10 years ago (at 41 years old). Never had issues before then. Went to a dermatologist and got a lot of prescriptions that did not work. After lots of research and trial and error, I ended up simplifying my life by washing my face with Dove sensitive "bar" soap, followed by apple cider vinegar 50% diluted and applied with a cotton ball and cera ve moisturizer - morning and night. This really works and you can't beat the price. I haven't had a flareup since I started this regimen. NOTE: I had the very painful acne kind of rosacea, too (unpoppable pimples). Not just redness.

I would LOVE to see videos of exactly how to use Prosacea (beyond the directions on the package, which just basically say to do a test patch and then use it once per day and twice per day if tolerated) and all these other products. In addition to dealing with mild/moderate diagnosed rosacea, I have oily skin, large pores with lots sebum that gets in the way of applying makeup nicely, and congested pores along and under my jaw. I had one meeting with a dermatologist before the COVID shut downs happened. Now I may have to start the whole referral process all over again with her.
    I would love to see a makeup video for oily rosacea skin. Nothing complex, just a way to even the skin and reduce shine.

    Can I just say how much have a lifesaver you are? You have no idea how much you have helped with your channel with my skin care. I have been dealing with some severe rosacea as of lately. Small white pustules all over my face, excessive sebaceous glands, red and irritated skin all over, look like a teenager, breaking out again all over my face, uneven skin, tone and texture, etc. The prosacea worked at first but then stopped working but the big game changer was definitely the Naturium with the azaleic acid. The Naturium stuff has truly helped my skin and correct the things above. My skin hasn’t looked this good in a long time. Knock on wood. I want to start implementing some anti aging stuff like vitamin C, retinol etc but not sure when is a good time to do so as I don’t want to do it too soon and have my skin go backwards instead of forwards with uneven skin tone, redness etc. Do you know when I should try and what to start with first?Oh and I’m using the vanicream cleanser and you’re right it is very gentle and does a good job cleansing without stripping, love it!

    I found your channel via your pityrosporum folluculitis video and your recommendations have helped so much!! I developed all kinds of skin issues after I caught cold sores 10 years ago. I have diagnosed severe inflammatory seborrheic dermatitis, as well as symptoms of the pityrosporum issue, and also roseacea-like redness and skin reactivity on my face (made worse by mast cell food issues). The worst part is that when these conditions flare, they also allow the cold sores to break through onto my face. I have been diagnosed immunodeficient so I think everything broke down on my face all at once. Your recommendations have been more helpful than any dermatologist I've seen (and I have seen a LOT), so I'm hopeful for the first time in 10 years I might get my skin under control. Its because your rosacea is still not contained and needs to be treated, I'm Mexican and my derm in Mexico (I understand USA medical asistance is insanely pricey) prescribed me a antibiotic and an antiinflammatory creams and it radically changed everything. Medical grade creams are necessary depending on the intensity of the rosacea. It was that or the next step would be take pills as well for me which I declined and asked my derm to let me try the creams first and after diligent and consistent applications they worked ✨

    I LOVE the Avené redness concentrate you showed - it did so much for my skin, and the results lasted afterwards as well. It is pricey, but it is 1000% worth it! Their other products are good too, but that one was the holy grail for me.
    I would recommend using it 1-2 times a day for a few months, depending on how much redness you have. After that, use it 1-3 times per week at nighttime. You don't need that much, it spreads fairly easy.
    For me, it decreased both the bumps and the redness. It did not remove the bumps entirely (just a disclaimer), but it improved my skin significantly, and the redness is gone, and the bumps a lot smaller. I have not been using to for the past few years, except for a few occasions, and the results lasted.

      @@amyamy8177 I personally saw a difference after the first few days. The difference increased over time, as I used it. If you want the fastest results, use it morning and night (remember to clean your skin in advance, so it can really work). You can use a moisturiser over it if you want. Then once you have reduced the redness enough, you can maintain 3-7 times a week for your nighttime skincare. :)

      I think what people need to remember is, more product doesn't always equal better results. :) A thin layer will usually do the job for most things. So try out how it feels on your skin, you can always start thin, and add more if you feel it can take it.

    You are totally correct about hyaluronic acid. At least for me, it's a terrible ingredient. I tried vichy's mineral 89 serum and it burned my skin. I guess it's due to the fact that hyaluronic acid penetrates the skin too much and that may cause irritation. However, my favorite ingredients and the ones that help me the most are: Azelaic acid, bisabolol, allantoin, centella asiatica, vitamin E and chamomile

Now I am going to try the Vbeam laser which was designed to specifically target redness, so it’s supposedly the gold standard laser treatment for rosacea/ broken capillaries. My dermatologist said the treatments are $150-$300 depending on how much area you are getting treated. The bbl laser treatments cost me $700 for 2 treatments and it was a waste of money, hopefully the Vbeam does much better and it’s also cheaper. If it helps it’s definitely worth it in my opinion.
