I find it easier to throw 700'+ when I get the car up to 80mph before I chuck the disc out the window
Actually. Thank you so much for this comment. This made it super easy to visualize what makes a disc go. Bcs i thought, if i just release the disc from a car at only 80mph is it rly gonna go 650+? It isnt. Not without spin.
@@deadlyvenom9069 I like looking at the math of it, the disc doesn't know about your hips or runup, it's gonna fly 600' if it leaves your hand going a certain direction, at a certain speed, with a certain amount of spin, how you achieve that varies from person to person. If the disc has to leave you r hand at 75mph, it has to accelerate from zero to 75. Accelerating a 170 gram disc from zero to 75 in 1 foot would require huge amounts of energy. We have a maximum distance we can perform this acceleration from a full reachback to full forward release, those with shorter arms have to have stronger core muscles. There are so many elements of a throw that all have to be timed right to build on each other's energy input, then you get it all perfect and you turn your disc over into the ground because you never threw it that hard before! I love disc golf.
@@robertjones1730 _timed_ _right_ ..... soooooo true
You can Hulk Smash your throw, but, if you don't get the spin and timing right .... sadness ensues.
Enkku on kyl yhtä hyvä ku pituusheitot 👌👍
Yllättävän hyvää suomalaiseks oikeesti
Kiekko lähtee kyllä aivan järkyttävällä nopeudella ja kova spin auttaa tietysti mittaan isosti, kun kiekko pitää asentonsa pitkään. Hyvin palastelit heittosi. Helppo tajuta mistä on kyse, toistaminen onkin sitten vähän hankalampaa. Alhaalta ylös, eli ruutia jaloista ja kyynärpää ulos spinin parantamiseksi pitää ottaa reeniin. Kerrassaan mainio video, kiitos! 👍
I love the hand outside of the disc tip...I knew this at one point but needed a reminder 🤣 great video. Tyvm
Millon Kristian one mile challenge
Minäkin osaan heittää 221m kohtuu helposti! Vaatii tosiaan 3 täydellistä heittoa mutta samapa lopputulos 😀. Hyvä video muuten, respaa!
itekki
Toi on kova
Thank you for making this video! I tried your lesson today going very slow throughout the throw. By syncing my hand with the hips I was getting more distance than my normal speed throw, which is almost all upper body and no legs/hips.
Sulla ei pituusheitossa ongelmii kyl oo
Best video I have seen about getting power from the legs. Amazing form!
221m without crazy tail wind? Jesus. Great tips!
The first measurement: 666 ; the Devil himself whipping those plastics?!! ...naaahh, this guy much smoother.
Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you Christian, this is pure gold. I started the "line drill" you explained during Wtdgc in Croatia, and things are really improving. Maybe I can see the light out of the tunnel! Thanks, Marco from Italy
Love it!
Oh my goodness, another Kristian with a K that plays disc golf. I'm no longer alone. *subscribed*
Ok kirsten
This is exactly what I needed to take my distance to the next level! I appreciate the content. Keep it coming, man.
Wow, i’m impressed with your power and effortless form, great content. Keep them coming, looking forward to your next post and as always keep grinding.
Ukolla on aika hyvä englanti.. 💪 Tästä edes kaikki vaan lontooksi.
Kiitos tästä videosta jo etukäteen! ❤️
Keep up good work!
Hands down the best video to fill the last piece of the puzzle.
Holy moly dude keep up the incredible work!!!!
Holy smokes. Time to study. Thank you very much for this video!
Pretty awesome! Thanks for the tips Kristian!
Thanks for the tips. Your English is good. Have confidence in that.
Oho, Kiitos jo etukäteen Kuoksa
At the end of my run-up I have noticed the motion of pushing my heel into the ground engages my hips. I just have to continue the motion and incorporate my core. The heel push corrects a ton of aiming issues; early releases, late releases, and mediocre controllable distances. Also have learned relaxing my throwing arm and just keeping it on a plane is all I have to do. Allowing my body to attack angles. Try doing a regular throwing motion--In your room, or with a disc-- using your normal routine. FOCUS on how fast your arm whips. Now, try the same thing and focus on pushing your lead heel into the ground at the end of your run-up. Feel the acceleration difference.
I just tried this and it's scary how much faster your arm moves when you push into your plant leg like this. Thanks for the tip!
@@peternichols9946 Passing on info from a commenter in another video from when I first started. Glad it helped you like it did for me!
Mahtavaa kontenttia!!
I used to do this more, going back to it!
On kyllä kova hanska äijällä!Voisit olla kova luu Jenkki tourilla missä heitetään golf kentillä👍
Thanks Kristian, valuable insights!
Hyvä video👍🏻
Great tips. I've had trouble with "collapsing" the power pocket and rounding because my body is in the way, and the tip about trying to keep your hand on the outside of the disc and keeping your elbow out are money. It makes it so I don't have to think about trying to get into the power pocket position, which is basically impossible. I just think keep my hand on the outside of the disc as long as possible and keep my elbow out, and I naturally have more space for the disc and get way more spin and snap. Still takes practice though.
great breakdown. thanks!
Thanks for you that good video👍💯💪I will try practice for yourr dicsgolf learning😊👍💯💪
The foot work at 2:57 looks so powerful. Look at the front knee, I've never seen any pro player do that. You sort of push into the front foot during the weight shift. Is that something you think about?
Your London is betör than my potato
Näillä tipseillä lähdenkin reenaamaan 👍🏻
Olipa hyvä video!
"the power pocket effect" haha exactly, cause it happens, you DON'T "do it" 🔥👏🏼😎🤜🏼💥🤛🏼
Your English is good! Keep the 🔥 content coming
Subscribe like immediately… great tips! Thanks for showing your tactics!
I think I am gonna reach 400 feet soon!
Loistava video! Ei muuta kun kentälle matkimaan
Thanks. More videos please
Hyvä video 👌🏻 Ja onhan tuo käpälä ihan hervoton. 😳
This is a great video! Question for you: You say that you are dropping down and then pushing up/off the ground with your legs.. as in both. So does that mean then when you plant/brace on your right foot, are you pushing off with just the right foot (brace foot) or are you using both feet to push off the ground when you plant?
Thank you!
Wow, this looks so easy
thanks for the video!!!
Dude...trying this ASAP. Loading the legs to fire makes so much more sense. SUBSCRIBED
So I tested out these tips in the field. And hit 500ft for the first time ever. Now to sync everything up
Heard about you from the Upshot Podcast. aparently you throw it a mile! definitely tried to spell your last name with a Q though 😅
I wonder if the people on Reddit would say either "You really shouldn't be throwing anything faster than a midrange until you hit Xft" or "Internet distance isn't real distance" to you.
Love the video although I secretly hate people who throw over 700ft! 😜
nättiä sanoisin, että yks suomen parhaimmista drive tekniikoista ainakin ps.hyvä vidi
Wow nice pull
Wow dude 😳, soo impressive
I am 17 and just started disc golf. Any tips for not getting bad begineer habits
your english is really good by the way
Kyllä on mahtavaa katsottavaa.
Seuraavaksi: Kuinka puttaat - video 😍
Let's see how it plays out haha
Best video ive seen out there
Onse kova
Great video! what kind of grip are you using? and how are you using those black pieces of tape(?) on your indeks and middle finger? Do you use that exclusively for distance shots or also in your regular game?
I use powergrip on drivershots and modified powergrip on mids and putters. The tape is there to protect my hand. I use it every time I play.
Mahtava kuulla!
Subbed.
Do you advise flex or hyzerflip?
💪 Mielenkiintoista olisi tietää kiekon lähtönopeus?
What are you wearing in your fingers of your throwing hand?

What is your grip?
Let's go back to london language !! Ihan super et teit myös Lontooksi videon!
Se ois sitte Suomenennätys!😏
How to throw effortless "usshhh", 40 ft run up, "uuuhhhh!!", james conrad follow through. Just messing though, that was a fun video
I dont think he meant his max distance throws by that:D his golf throws look pretty effortless tho
Yeah but JC can't break 500 with the same drama lmao. You should watch this guy compete and throw actual golf shots.
Ai että jes
interesting with the legs popping i just wonder how onde combats a low ceiling and still popping up
That’s an exception
On sillä ristus viä iso käpälä!
5/5
What do you use to wrap/cover your fingers when throwing?
Kinesio tape👍🏻
I never hear anyone talk about the legs hardly, makes so much sense. let's just hope it works in the field now...for me. I still can't get a straight answer on the release point. Is it supposed to rip out off hand and or am I supposed release it a 10 O'clock?
Do not think about releasing the disc!! 😂
tähän on käytetty aikaa
One mile challenge seuraavaks? 🤔
Don’t forget the importance of the grunt. 5m extra for sure😉👍🏻
James Conrad agrees
I suspect it's more about blowing the breath out
@@JanisBebritis Correct. It's just like volleyball players who serve hard as fk. They hold air in their mouth and let it all out at once later.
Ei se oo ku vaa suskraip ja se on siin
Well nothing about throwing those destroyer's looked 'effortless' lol
do you have to be fast in your run up?
Only if you want to throw over 700 ft. With fast run up you only increase disc speed few miles and much more likely mess up timing and everything else and get less distance. Take a look this video czcams.com/video/Fwj7B3jGwUU/video.html they throw same speed but with better technique Simon still threw much further.
I have wondered that if two person 20 year old and 40 year old throws with same technique how much shorter is that older person throw. Meaning that older guy isn't that agile and quick any more so how much that will affect.
Age isn't everything. If you take former javelin thrower Tero Pitkämäki (who plays disc golf as a hobby) and non-athletic 20-year-old, I would say that Tero throw farther.
I know a lot of 20-year-old people who far from agile and I also know people in 40s and even 50s who are agile. Not as quick as they were 20 years ago, but quicker than many 20-year-old people.
And some people are in the best shape in their life when they are 40. Never done any exercise and being overweight until 30-35 and found sports, gym, healthy food etc. after that. They would probably throw farther at 40 than at the age of 20.
I get your point, but it is not that simple. I think you know that as well. Your writings are and have been pretty good. I think this is something that no one knows. Would have to be the same height, same physique etc. so basically the same person 20 years ago and now.
E.g. JohnE McCray said last year that he is throwing now farther than ever. I am pretty sure his form has improved. That is an interesting question though and of course throws will get shorter if only age changes.I have thrown about 20 years and I have lost about 20% from max distance in that time.
I could have been more specific about comparison but i just meant if age is only variable then throwing distance is somewhat shorter older you get but ofc it varies because every person is different.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 Release speed matters of course, and young men will generally have more explosiveness compared to older guys. But technique does matter more, I for one have quite a lot of power but when I was starting out I could rip the disc as hard as I wanted and I was only getting 300ft out of it. Now I'm at 450ft and my form certainly isn't perfect. It's all about rotational energy and shifting your momentum throughout the throwing motion and if you have that nailed you can get good distance even without a really fast arm. And obviously knowing your disc and releasing it on the right angle as well..
But yes you are correct in saying that older people generally have less explosive speed and once your muscles wear down and you before stiff your motion is not as fluid. That's why you really don't want to be stiff, and some of the furthest throwing guys are pretty lanky with long arms, showing that muscles really don't matter. Emerson Keith is a tiny guy and very skinny yet he throws 500+.
Heitä one mile challenge
It's really the more subtle things that get people to the upper distance levels. I throw with the same power and effort as him but to reach 475. I keep finding new things all the time but as im nearing 40 it isn't getting any easier.
bombs
You forgot to mention the "UHHH!" voice effect that adds the last extra 10 feet to your throw. Well, at least you demonstrated it at the end, so not that big of a mistake :)
He holds the air in his mouth and let's it all out immediately after. Hence why that sound happens.
