' “On the Reality of Letting Go” is not a song of defeat. It is a song of determination, a song of resilience, a testament to the human spirit’s ability to take the situation at hand, and negotiate a way through, even when the outcome seems grim. The end of the piece isn’t a cry for help, but rather an acknowledgement of what has come before, with a joyful cry of outlook to a brighter future ahead.
This piece was written for the Lati2de saxophone duo, comprised of Leo Schlaifer and Matt Dardick. It is through their support and willingness to collaborate that this work came into being. Thank you guys, dearly. '
