This will definitely be an interesting discussion. Given how many babies she had, and how quickly she rose, I'd say yes. Especially if she reminded him in any way of Empress Xiaoxianchun.

When Imperial Consort Ling Died she was given 76 honors which is 18 more honors than the normal customs of an Imperial Consort. She was buried to the right side of Emperor Qinglong’s future resting place and Empress Fuca on the left. Imperial Consort Ling went on many Excursions throughout her life with her husband Emperor Qinglong. The Emperor wouldn’t promote her because she would be stuck in the palace and wouldn’t be able to live a freer lifestyle. She also didn’t have the background to be an Empress. Empress Fuca did teach Imperial Consort Ling and she was very Fond of Ling. The narrator described Imperial Consort Ling as not Evil in real life. Mentioned her name Ling pronunciation change for the film. I believe she was favored and loved more than the others because a man doesn’t spend that much time on a ship with a women or have that many babies unless he loves her and Ames her son the Crown Prince. In her latter years she did manage the harem. Even though she wasn’t an Empress because she didn’t want that tittle, she still acted as an Empress and was given a lot of power.

My memory about the beautiful and kindness of consort Ling came from Huan Zhu GeGe series. To see this character became such an evil woman in Ruyi Chuan that shook up myself as well but to see Yingluo as a good consort Ling once again made me comfortable to watch 😅

I actually felt quite uncomfortable seeing the Step-Empress always being labeled as the "big bad" in most of the dramas about Qianlong's harem.
Whenever dramas showed that the Step-Empress as "mad" and "crazy" when she cut her hair, it makes me wonder: was she really out of her mind?
Whenever dramas showed the evil Step-Empress being "defeated" and the good Ling guifei taking her place, I wondered: is that really a happy ending?
For all we know, neither of them was evil or bad. Maybe they were both dealt a really bad hand by the Emperor.
From historical documents, Qianlong never reported the Step-Empress cutting her hair in front of his face. For all we know, maybe he just made that convenient excuse for her after he became extremely dissatisfied with her. Kind of similar to how people in power in the past would just label someone as a witch or hysteric whenever it was convenient so they can get them out of the way.
And from historic documents and historian analysis, Ling Huangguifei was never given any real love, real power or even true respect by the Emperor. All she was ever to him was a "birthing machine" and Empress Xiaoxianchun's replacement or souvenir.
I think the same thing could be said about any of the other "antagonistic" concubines in the show.
Historically, Huixian Huangguifei was not mean, or rude and got along well with the other concubines/consorts in the Forbidden City. In fact, due to her family background, I highly doubt that she was as haughty and arrogant as she was portrayed in a lot of dramas.
ShuJia Huangguifei was also the same way. In fact, the way that she was portrayed in Ruyi's Love in the palace was not the most accurate. She was definitely not a "foreign" tribute. Her family might have roots to Goryeo, she was definitely not closely related to the Korean king and her clan was already converted to Manchu generations ago.

@@blenderpain8249 I disagree with your point of view. You seem to get into Ruyi chaun TV dramas so much and thought Ji Hong hao might be a good one. We never knew the true! But for me Qianlong also loves Ling fei, she might not get many honors in her life like you tried to say but she buried besides Qianlong and that proved a lot what she meant to him and actually I don't care what you might think about the CHARACTER of Ji Hong Hao in Ruyi Chaun or Ling Fei. This is just another fiction for me. My point of view HERE is about Ling Fei and the character I usually love but I actually like the actress who played Ling Fei in Ruyi Chaun and the character of her which developped in each stage of the life in harem you can understand some of her actions and end tragically like other consorts. I can seperate the fact and fiction, now I grow up and watch TV dramas not just for entertainment but also try to understand the character even it's quite annoying sometimes and I never put the historical record on the fiction like Huan Zhu GeGe or Zhen Huan or Ruyi Chaun or Yingluo. Those fictions wrote by authors no way to compare with history. I don't know why you have an issue with my comments. I just tell my feelings. That's it!

@@shivabhornsri4899 Yes, you are right. Those are fictional works and I can understand the appeal of "sparrow turns into a phoenix" type of storyline. Whenever I see shows like The Story of Yanxi Palace, it makes me feel extremely satisfied when the main character, Yingluo, despite, coming from a lowly palace maid background was able to defeat all her opponents with tactic and wit.
Maybe we got off on the wrong foot but I don't have any issues with your opinion on Lingfei's character as depicted in your favourite shows/dramas. And I can also understand the shock when a favourite character is depicted in such a bad light in another show.
I'm just pointing out that historically, neither Ling Huang guifei and Step-Empress Nara was as depicted as in those fictional works and most likely, neither of them lived the life that they wanted.
And no matter how much we wished them to be the same way as how our favourite dramas portrayed them as, it will never be true.

Seeing their age differences I don't think she is with the emperor for out of pure love rather more due to her family's condition. And that the emperor is only with her because of her looks and some qualities in her that he likes but not a true emotional connection. Seeing that he had only moved her family's clan into the yellow boarded banner only before her death and other circumstances, I think he posthumously titled her empress for the sake of their children.

Overall, I don't think he loved her. He was too careless with her rewards and honors, seemingly giving less than what he gave to his other ladies. The way I see it, having so many kids, one after the other but only after more than five years of service could be due to her having a stronger constitution versus the other more frail and sheltered ladies from noble families. It's also possible that their physical compatibility was judt very high, or for the Emperor to find her ways and/or company refreshing. Had he felt any love, his rewards would have been more grand; as it is, it feels like even naming her as empress was done with a "if I don't do this or that, it will reflect poorly on me" mindset.

I think the Emperor liked novelty , love is too strong a concept in his dealings with women. His heart was cold and never given away was a lesson learned in childhood. Women had a use- sex and babies as possessions of his to show the world his manhood. Only two women were appreciated- the Empress and one consort. History and modern dramas never give a the true picture - we cannot ask the dead how or why they acted in a certain way , written accounts never really write the truth but are always edited and slanted. The winds merely whisper the echos of those lives long ago, yet those echos still fire our imagination today. That, is a true Legacy.

If she hadn't die early(due to Imperial Noble Consort Shujia's schemes), I pretty sure she would've caused way more physical and emotional harm than Empress Xiaoyichun could ever do when alive.
Xiaoyichun on the other hand is simple-minded and cold-blooded, and all her actions are an act of the bad things that have been done to her and those around her. She is easily manipulated and influenced by others which lead her down the path of becoming domineering and to become above all.
