From the moment I first saw the original Bowsette comic and then especially the Koopeach art from the unused Super Mario Odyssey concept, I was taken WAY back to around 2004 when a buddy and I came up with a family for Bowser:
Bowser, the Koopa King, of course
Bowselia, the Koopa Queen
Bowsina, the teenaged daughter (IDENTICAL to the SMO concept)
Bowser Jr., the prince
Bowsie, Junior's twin sister
Beeezer (yes, three E's), the infant son
I recall some artwork of a Bowser Family Reunion that was going around way back when. Literally just a backyard party with Bowser's family in it. xD Would love to see them expand out the Koopa Family in an interesting way

The existence of Bowsette is a reminder that the Super Crown is the most OP'd power up in the Mario universe, and its effects are cursed. No matter how much you tried to escape from the cursed artifact, it turned everyone and everything into a princess.

The Internet’s version of the Super Crown having the ability to transform anyone and anything into a cute, charismatic princess waifu was extremely chaotic and overwhelming in terms of fan art, but I would be lying to myself if I said that it wasn’t fun at the same time. I also jumped on the Super Crown bandwagon myself and tried to come up with my own gijinka designs with it. It posed as a very good opportunity to draw human forms for an artist who usually doesn’t draw humans nor human-like forms all that much like myself. Even to this day, I still think about using the Super Crown as inspiration again so I can come up with something cute and Princess-y. I’d rather compare the Super Crown to the Golden Apple of Discord from that one mythological story involving Eris, the goddess of chaos. Nintendo threw that crown in their community and it caused so much chaos as a result.

Yeah, I remember. I had this one scenario in my mind where someone tried to use a Super Crown on Bowser, but nothing happened.
That's how it would realistically work.
I think what makes Bowsette so popular is the beautiful idea factor of it. The idea of a species' princess is hard to not imagine.
Admittedly, there are those who don't like Peachette (and NSMBU DX in general), but to see such creativity is appreciated.
Also, Nintendo makes a wise choice in staying away from the matter. Meme acknowledging companies are more likely to not know the meme in particular, and banking on it isn't always a good idea. Remember Morbius.

Disturbing internet phenomenon aside, can we talk about how much the Super Crown ruins the game if you're playing as anyone other than Toadette? Pick Mario or Luigi and you're shit out of luck if you win one in a minigame. It's just dead weight to be discarded due to the limited item inventory.
Due to 1 person being forced into easy mode NSMBU is better on Wii U than Switch. And in NSLU 2 players are forced into easy mode. Also because of the gamepad you can sorta have 5 players.

Actually, that means that we for sure have some timeline where Nintendo beat us to the punch (officially, at least) and that fact is fucking WILD.

Fun fact, the official anime of the Neptunia game series officially reference bowsette and booette in their second OVA (yes bowsette as an official reference in an official anime)
It was a last-ditch item to make the captured Princess Peach playable by taking advantage of the setting that Toadette admires Princess Peach, but it turned into nightmare fuel and is the worst item. To be honest, the idea of turning an old man with a child into a woman is a nightmare...odyssey? Well...I guess that canceled plan is like Zelda Ganon.

Honestly, Bowsette is exactly what Nintendo deserved for adding such a terrible power up to make some bland generic port "worthy" of $60. And I say this as a peachette fan (I like the design and character, just wish she was a seperate character from Toadette and Peach, like Kinoppe from the Mario Manga)

I didn't even think of the thought of Nintendo adding Peachette to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe due to the popularity of Bowsette but without actually making her canon. All I've heard is people asking why Peachette made it in and not other characters like Nabbit or Hammer Bro.

Sadly, the P-Balloon has existed long before the elephant power up and it created so much inflation fetish art surrounding it on the internet. Just simply googling P-Balloon will bring you a bunch of fetish art in Google images.

That's the issue, Bowsette has essentially gone to replace any other concepts of female koopa characters in fanon.
I have a head canon that Bowsette was a byproduct of the Supa Merge from Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle. That way she remains in Spinoff Limbo and doesnt affect the main games.

Okay, so, when this was catching the Internet's attention five years ago I had a good chuckle like everyone else, but then I remember seeing in old Nintendo concepts that Nintendo wanted a sort of "Anti-Peach", if you will, similar to how Mario and Luigi have Wario and Waluigi and I thought, "Well damn, there's their Evil Princess design right there." Honestly, if Nintendo ever wanted to pull the trigger on that idea I still think it would work.

One fanwork of Bowsette and Boosette I'd recommend looking into is how they've been adapted as .exes for Nightmare of the Mushroom Kingdom. More specifically, as Bowsette.exe and Boosette.xml
Another fan character that came around the same time as Bowsette but wasn't nearly as popular, was Eggette/Omelette, Robotnik's niece inspired by Eggman's upside down sprite from Sonic Mania. I personally would have loved for Eggette to have had the same amount of fame Bowsette had, because Eggette's design fits in the Sonic universe like a glove, it's one fan character i actually wish was canon. Bowsette looks like deviantart rule 34 horny fan art. Oh well, the internet is horny, so what can i do.
