Of all the people playing Grateful Dead music on the CZcams right now (and there are a lot of them). You are definitely my favorite. You’re understanding of this music and your ability to teach it to other people is second to none. I wish you all the best. You are a brother, you are a Deadhead. You are the man! You have no equal on the guitar. I hope I get to meet you someday and just hang with you brother, you’re awesome.
Weir very underrated as a guitarist. One of the greatest rhythm players of all time. Even if ur not a fan you HAVE to respect the talent. Just awesome.
Great instruction man! I've found for the intro doing EMaj7, A, and then the E triad on those same strings in that spot sounds pretty good too. The dead have definitely played it a bit differently over the years
So, long story short, I'm playing a gig with bobby's parts on Saturday, so you're saving me a ton of time on some of these voicings! I sat down tonight to work on Eyes, and here this is. Anyhow, They love each other?! Thank you so much my friend!
Great video. Learned some new stuff. Is it possible to do a break down of chords in the jam. I've been trying to figure it out. There's a section where they into an Ab? Ddim? Anyway, great lesson. Thanks
There's a Eyes where they're changing keys in the end jam in order to connect with another song. I'll see if I can find an example. Still, great lessons... all of them. Makes me work harder at learning the way he plays
I know everyone is throwing out suggestions for material for you to do, but, a good April Fools video would be a lesson on Bobby's Minglewood slide solos. Not to hate on Bobby but you'd think that playing with Jerry for 30 years he would have learned to play slide better. I've heard a lot of out of tune, barbwire on chalkboard slide solos from Bobby over the years. All that being said, a short but sweet Minglewood solo from Bobby can be found on Dead Set. Sometimes he really nails it.
@@MickBethMusic this is basically a D inversion leaving off the 9th of the high e string, correct? I was just going to ask about this too and saw the comment.

Nice, a 74 version too!
You should also listen to the first Eyes, 2-9-73. Bob did a little differently the first time around.
Emaj7 - E 6/9 - to G#minor

@@MickBethMusic oops, i see it. my bad.
What's the name or type of the A inversion you're doing around 1:07, 3:46, and 4:01? Cool shape, I don't think I've seen that one!
Index on the 7th on the d string
Ring finger on the 9th on the g string
Pinky on the 10th on the b string

What are the strings you are hitting to on the A chord in the intro?
D g and b
