IntenseAngler did and did he is better at videos then me ..
Love your support for the new outdoorsmen and women!
IntenseAngler please do more fishing lure builds. Like the paracord lure
Glad you're back! Props from another Idahoan (Meridian). Thanks again for your uploads man.
Ride Alongside Definitely awesome to see more people getting out and enjoying the great outdoors... that's for sure! :)
Im not an out doors person because i live deep in the city but I love your content! Motivation to get me out there and when others are doing baby steps you actually give us material that is life saving! Keep up the great work!!
Hey John, you strike me as being a very humble gentleman. You also have an affable personality that lends itself to instructing others . . . if you're not a teacher, you should be. While I don't use iso-butane stoves myself (prefer twig stoves), your kit was well thought out, and incredibly light. Thanks for the video, my friend.
Thanks for the video. No need to apologize for the raw nature of your video. That's one of the reasons your videos are so great. You're sincere and honest.
Dude when you post I listen to every word. You are are probably the most sincere youtube creator.
Wow, I can't tell you how much that means my friend... thank you!
I'm sure it is me but when I checked out Jebs outdoors that you shared all it showed was gun n ammo vids. I did not see a UL cook kit vid.
BTW I like your approach to and presentation of your vid.
It's been a few years now since I uploaded this one, and I think during that time his interests may have changed a bit. Thank you for your very generous compliment regarding my vid by the way... it's much appreciated brother.
Thanks for the video John. Good to see you again my friend. Keep em come'n
Great to see you in video again John! This was a good one too.
Thank you for this interesting video. Very interested by the lightweight stove! Thanks
Great video! Nice cook kit! I like the orange color too! The cozy for it is spot on! John your one of the most inventive people i know, thats why i love your channel!
My favorite is that Altoids stove! I've made at least 10! They make great gifts! Thanks for sharing my Friend!
I have been a subscriber to Jep's channel for awhile!
Dont say sorry for getting a good deal. If it works it works. My family uses the military sleep system, and we have never thought twice about it. It's a great deal for something that works.
So good to hear from you! We’ll take anything, impromptu or not!
Thanks John. Great to see you back
Just ordered the $75 2.0 liter Toaks titanium cookpot. It cuts a whole pound off my gear and is a huge pot if you like to eat like me. A half-gallon pot of water will seem like a bathtub.
Hey John good to see you again. I've got the toaks 750ml pot that I switched out the lid for walmart collapsible silicon cup (like sea to summit). I just pop up the bottom fold to make a lid handle then all the way up for a coffee cup. Same stove and spoon. Keep up the great vids!
Nice cook kit, very similar to mine. Only thing is that you should count the weight of the fuel canister in the base weight as you will always be carrying that weight. The fuel portion can go in the consumables section. For those size canisters the canister weight is usually 3.1oz.
Finally! So glad to see a new video from you brother!
Thanks Brother... that means alot man! Thinkin' there's a glitch with ol' YT or something. Posted a new vid recently and I don't think many people got the notification... weird :/
IntenseAngler
That is weird. I just figured you were still outdoors more than in front of a screen which is the way it truly should be...if at all possible. Take the best of care brother.
I was out walking the other day & scored a bag of Fosters empties! Looks like I'm going to be making some pots soon. Please do a vid on the stove & cozy, it's good to see you again.
Great score brother! Sounds like you'll be busy making yourself some cool new Fosters pots :)
Awesome hearing from you by the way Tim. Hope all's well!
How about a series of your favorite backpacking meals? Dehydrated, pre-made, home made, etc. Only brought on because of the quick view of your broccoli cheese rice, I never even considered taking that with me until today!
Great idea my friend. I'll see if I can put a video together on that as soon as possible. Nothing like a good (and simple) meal out on the trail :)
Always good to see you man........fair play supporting the newbies👍👍👍
I ordered that exact stove. I got it very quickly, but you're sort of rolling the dice. It worked great ... for about two minutes. Then it went out and never lit up again. If you go through Amazon, return is easy. Just know that based on my experience and that of quite a few others, apparently, there's a pretty decent chance you'll get a lemon.
So glad to see you uploading more regularly! 😁
Thanks Tawny! Definitely nice to be rollin' out the new vids. Always great hearing from ya by the way! :)
I basically have the same setup. I do have a smaller cup that nest's inside the larger one for my coffee.. Gotta have the coffee with breakfast.
Right there with ya brother... the ol' coffee is a MUST for mornings! haha
Appreciate the watch and comment by the way Alex... thanks :)
John, Great to have you back! Thank you brother!!
Thanks Donald... really means alot man!
Hey John try switching out the lid for a wamart collapsible silicon cup it seals together and if you pop up only the bottom fold it makes a handle to use as a lid. Keep the vids coming!
I've got a little pot and fry pan combo I bought years ago. Keep a cup in it similar to that one instead of the cheap plastic bowls that it came with. I want to try one of those little stoves.
Very nice look at a great cook kit ! Thanks for sharing man. Then again, it’s always great to hear from you ! Peace
Thanks my Brother! Really been enjoying catching up on some of your latest adventures by the way... always dig seeing ya out there in your part of the country!
Peace.....
thanks for the good tips. I enjoy watching your channel for lots of ideas. I usually go out exploring the outdoors on an ATV, and you have a lot of good tips. If you can, a video on the koozy made from the dollar store sun shades would be nice.
Personally, I have one of the stanley stainless steel cook sets with a little turbo stove like yours and i really enjoy it. A good tip is to keep some denture tablets with you, so if you get bad stains inside, leave a couple inside it full of water overnight, and they will generally remove whatever is in there. Also works well on the stainless steel portion of my stanley click top coffee mug.
Great video. I subbed to jeps channel. I like to support any good youtubers out there. Especially the younger generation. Keep up the great work!
I have that size cook kit. My Esbit stove for it fits inside along with some esbit cubes. It hods 1 3/4 cups of water so it's perfect for MH foods. My Esbit stove can also be fueled by twigs. I could even fit a little alcohol stove in there if I wanted. I'd love to see a tutorial on making the cozies...
You have a very nice listenable voice/manner. Glad to have found your channel. (BTW, The Toaks 550 mL is $25 on Amazon and the BSR stove is about $15.)
Thank you very much for the kind words my friend... truly appreciate that. All the best.....
Back from the other side 👍👍 great vid man. I hope your life töten back to the way you want it.
Thanks Brandon... really appreciate that my brother.
Long time no see John. More videos please. I love them
Thanks my friend. More videos are on the way... :)
Awesome solo cook kit, thanks John!
Anytime my Brother! Hope all's been well my friend!
Welcome back! Good to see you!
I would definitely like to see a more in-depth video on your heater. I also think that it would be a good video to see you go over your pot cozy that you made and maybe even talk about the things that you did wrong and the things that you would do differently the second time around if you made another one or when you make another one.
lol, great voice for late night radio !
I have missed your positive light brother. Thanks for the video & Safe travels!
Good review...thank you! And will check out Jep!
I've got the exact same cooking set-up (Toaks, etc.) right down to the spoon. I've used it plenty of times, and you can put the Toaks right into a fire if you want to save on gas. It's a great set-up. Went through about 10 different combos before I settled on that kit. The micro-stoves are great, too. Just have to watch the pot doesn't tip. Always good to prop the pot up against a rock, I find.
I use a similar setup but use the 450ml Toaks with a Fancy Feast alcohol stove. The pot will also work with the ISOPRO fuel and burner like you're using, but that is too much for me for a weekend hike. I like your 550ml pot and would probably use that size also if I regularly used the burner stove. Good job.
That little stove looks interesting. I would like to see your review if you make one.
Very nice video and tips!
Thanks.
Ah. So the kraken didn't get. That's good. Just heading over to check out Jep's channel, looking forward to your tutorial on cosies.
Cool man...great to see ya as always! We're both back at it!
Right on brother... always love seeing what you come up with man!
awesome cook kit
Thanks Phyllis. Always great hearing from ya :)
Almost exactly my kit, toaks pot only bigger, same burner, same lookin maybe toaks spoon. That bright orange stuff sack is good to throw all small thingies while cooking.
Been pondering about same pot you've got, for shorter trips especially. It holds small gas ganister and burner. And with extra fuel for longer trips also.
I definitely subbed and will watch the rest of the vid just by u saying support and show love to others, great example pls keep it up...
yes please do the cozy tutorial
Will do Patrick :)
I bought this titanium sport for 10 bucks at REI and it had a weird texture that makes me never use it. Sun shades rock! I use mine for my tent, hammock and sit pad. I use it in my car for a few months to soften it up with the heat. Love your cook kit.
Glad you're back John. Missed your insightful VLOG's and mellow demeanour.. Cheers.
That's a good cook kit!
Thanks Daniel!
Duuuuude... I remember watching that video of you making the alcohol stove kit. that was one of the first videos I ever saw on the subject. Thats when i subscribed to you. Wow memories lol thank you
Oh wow.. that one was waaaaay back.. lol. Really appreciate ya being around for so long man... means alot!
I have the same exact stove and Toaks pot, how funny! Glad to know I chose wisely as I chose them for all of the same reasons as you (lightest, most compact, yet still cheap)! Always good to see you post up a new video!
I have the same setup minus the kozie. I did add a sea to summit collapsible cup.
i have an identical kit but with polished long spoon and i have the Gossamer gear cuben cozy/storage bag.
Sounds like an awesome setup you have going on there my friend! :)
I have a wood gas stove and a Bear Bowl cook pot that folds flat like a wallet and holds 32oz. I bought it on Indego
First of all let me say wow my friend, you have a lot going on over here and you have quite an incredible Channel! My hats off to you for all the hard work you have done to acquire the community you have! I am very interested in what you mentioned in the comment on my channel, and would love to work with you! I would really like an opportunity to talk with you on a pm platform I have a few other ideas that you may like to participate in or who knows even go in that direction with something on your own channel👍 I also want to say it truly touched me that you did this video and mentioned Jep, you have a quality about you that I truly Inspire to find in people! And I truly hope you continue to be a part of my community because you are the type of individual that fits in it so well👍 thank you for showing interest in my channel and keep up the awesome work🤠
Great to see you as always. I hope you know that many of us look to you for inspiration. That cook kit is a good one. Like you said, if you keep an eye out, you can pick up a great deal on a titanium pot. And like you show, it's about how you can get things to nest together, complete with the cozy and sack to keep it all in. I have a 450 ml cup/pot with an alcohol stove, but very similar to what you show. Same basic concept of boiling water for freezer bag or Mountain House cooking and of course, coffee. Please keep up the good work.
Great video, John. Glad to see you creating and supporting a fellow CZcamsr ✌️
Nice cook kit John. Great to see a new video from you. It’s been awhile my friend.
Thank you very much my friend... really appreciate that. I posted a new video a little over a week ago, but I don't think it showed up in alot of people's feeds. Must have something to do with YT's new notification setup.
Hi John! My summer cook kit is similar: Like yours, but without the orange bag, a shortened vrsion of your StS spoon and a windscreen. Oh, and no pot scraper: I use plain ol'e dirt/sand. Works perfect! I replaced the original lid by Ti-foil and I use a DIY alcohol felt burner. All in all 120g (roughly 4oz.). My winter kit is similar, just the mug is larger: 850ml ATB & Happy trails, Gereon
Idk of a stove that's lighter than the BRS, and for the price it's killer little stove, one thing to consider is that they usually ship from China so they can take anywhere from a week to a month to arrive depending on where you are.
Thanks John, it’s good to see you back!
Good to see you’re making videos again!! You have a great way of teaching people. You’re greatly appreciated!
Hey thanks Steven... that really means alot my friend!
Nice video, like a casual chat. I must have missed your hair growing out.... how time flies. My one question and observation is that I assume this is a one meal type of cooking kit. I tend to think of a cook kit as 2-3 containers to boil water and something to fry or saute foods and a pot of some sort to keep foods warm, for stews and soups or even to bake in.
And I figure two cups and sporks or utensil sets for an unexpected companion. These few items can always be handed out to others so they can carry the weight. That's really another subject on it's own. Love to hear what you think or suggest as a little more advanced kit.
Great vid as always! I would love to see that cozy tutorial
Outstanding support you have shown to Jep and young outdoors people overall. Great UL cook kit. Great channel as well. I will certainly check out Jep's channel. Max"
Thank you Max... I really appreciate that my friend!
I have watched your videos of and on for some time, Great stuff. I checked out Jep's channel, he has some good things going and is doing well. Impressive young man.👍
Good to see u again John! Ur hair is super long!!
What kind of gloves are u wearing? They look comfy.
Nice cook set... U gotta do a review on that 1 oz lil stove!
Have a good one!
Thinking about getting one of those stoves.....your in put would be great.
Definitely won't regret the choice my friend. I'll try to get a review up asap.
Great video John
A few bucks for each item for a total of $6.00, that's amazing! You such can find some good deals, I could not find all those items for less than $55.00.
I have a BRS stove as well and it has performed as I hoped when I've used it, although a little gas leakage if not screwed on perfectly and quickly. The only problem I've had, and I know I'm not the only one, is that it doesn't seem to work with Coleman gas cans. The pin in the stove is too short from what I can work out. A small problem I guess but one I feel worth bothering to mention.
Great to see you using iconic Australian product can’t go past a beer Fosters you legend
Love the vid. Always great to see when you pop up on my feed! That orange stuff sack doubles as a 'dunk bag' for utensils.
Really appreciate that brother... thanks!
Hey John, as always I thoroughly enjoyed your video. They are always so informative.
All the best
Joe
Thanks Joe... I really appreciate that my friend.
Best to ya! -John
I've been using the Toaks 750 ml pot and BRS stove all my backpacking trips the 3 months I'm trying not to like the $15 BRS stove but it keeps performing beyond my wildest dreams.
Nice cook kit Jon! Perfect in weight. Jep's is a nice young man.
Very enjoyable video. Excellent presenting style. Please could you make a video of how to make that reflector snug fo your cook pot? Thank you in advance (from England)
always love to hear from you. and thumbs up for your support of a young outdoorsman
I’m good with the ums, uhs and the of courses lol glad to watch ya👍 great videos
Thank you so much Nikki! I'm definitely a pro when it comes to the ums and uhs lol.
IntenseAngler lol well at least you can laugh at it...some cannot 😂
gah dont know how i missed this,
glad to see you back in any capacity, you were one ofr the first that helped me rediscover my love of backpacking. couple others are in the comments below(cragdwella and pharroah)
Awesome cook set! That stove is brilliant. I have been using a similar kit for many years. I have the 750ml pot and the micro-rocket stove so mine is a little heavier but not by much.
John great to see a new video. Yes I would like to see videos made of the things you mentioned in this one you always put out good content.
I have exactly the same set up for my basic brew up kit. The burner is super light but I do need a good wind screen for it to be effective here in the uk. Thanks for sharing atb vee
Great minds think alike, eh Vee ;) Thanks for the comment btw... always great hearing from you :)
Sweet! *That tiny stove is incredible!
Good stuff enjoyed the watch ❤
Thanks. Really happy to hear that you enjoyed it brother :)
Appreciate you watching and commenting... means a lot 👍
Nice kit I enjoyed your vid
Good vibes. Nice gear. Subbed.
it was almost like you were showing my cook kit, same fuel , stove, scrubby ,and Toaks pot, mine is 750ml though. Needless to say, I think that's a great system haha.
Enjoyed that, thanks.
Good to see you out there doing your thing brother, and good to see you well. Also i have the same toaks cook kit and love it.
Awesome vid. Subbed. I've always sworn I'd never give up my MSR Alpine cook kit (from the mid-90s). I don't really do the ultra-lite thing. But, I recently got a Toaks titanium cup. It's kinda got me second guessing my former opinion.
Hey John good to see you brother been working on a new cook kit myself got the bsr 3000t and love it still looking for the right pot. And as for Jep hes a new member of my youtube family. Thanks for sharing. Be safe on your adventures My brother.
Great little kits. Really good to see you again.
Thanks for the video! Glad to see you back. Love all the tips a tricks to the outdoors.
My cook kit is nearly identical. Glad to learn I am doing something right. :-) I think only differences are the brand of stove, brand of spoon, and the cozy. By the way I would like to learn more about the cozy such as how you made it and how you use it.
I would love to see how you make your cozzi.
Thanks for the video and the advice, I'm switching to titanium and that was helpful , getting to old to be carrying 50lb packs :-). Cheers from Ireland
Great video 🏋️♀️👍
Thank you brother... much appreciated! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it!
hey, we heard a Yeti made off with you :-) Good seeing you John. I use the same cu but different stove, most single serving meals are under 2 cups, its perfect.
PHARRAOH I heard it was a Eagle. It picked him up and carried Jon back to the nest.
PHARRAOH You heard right buddy. Fortunately he got sick of listening to me ramble and dropped me back off though ;) Seriously.. great hearing from you Alan. Hope all's been well my brother :)
