Absolutely brilliant. Well done! One question though... with max heart rate typically 220 minus your age, how have you managed to get up to 177, which would be for a 43-year-old? Just curious!
Good question. I usually peak out at 170 to 172 bpm and haven't seen anything above 173 in years. I was at 170 after the first minute. I suspected low battery on the HR transmitter and changed the battery after the piece.
@@burns46824 Thank you Tyler. I averaged 38 spm, which I can suffer through for a distance that short. I have to do 2k in the 32-35 spm range. When I first started racing on the erg, I maxed out on the drag factor and rowed at lower rate before learning that I could be more efficient by being more relaxed and longer on each stroke. Good luck with your training.
@@KenGates Good tips. I’ve been playing with different strategies for a while now. I’m doing a 1K and a 2K test soon. So you like a drag factor of around 125 or 130?
@@burns46824 I do. I watched the big dudes and they row at the lighter DFs. If you relax the arms and shoulders and come all the way up the slide to vertical shins, it adds 3 to 4 inches to the stroke and makes 120 to 130 DFs plenty heavy. What are your time targets?
This is phenom performance huge respect ✊🏽 bravo 👏🏽

congrats, what was your drag factor?
Thanks Mike. The DF was 130.
@@KenGates Wow...LOW for a 1K. I was thinking I would race at 175. Requires a crap ton of SPM...like 40! I prefer 33-34. This is impressive.
