I agree with everything you said. My 11 inch M4 iPad Pro is so perfect and Iâm so glad I switched to the smaller one after 5 years of 12.9 inch. I hate it when 99% of internet people have the exact same voice, âoh iPad needs to run macOS otherwise itâs a wasteâ. No one has anything interesting to say. So glad I found your video.

I recently came from the last 12.9 iPad Pro to the new 11â iPad 2024. I was yearing for more of a tablet experience. The 11â is perfect and works really well the keyboard.

Just bought a 11 inch. It already feels big. But if u really wanna utilize stage manager the most, 12.9 makes sense. But for me, 11 inch is the perfect size and it is portable.

I would like the option. Or something like the way Dex works on Samsung. Like have iPadOS normally but be able to jump into âdesktop look and feelâ mode when plugged into a monitor.

I agree. The iPad is a multifaceted tablet that can do some of the things that a MacBook/laptop can do. When the "What's a computer" campaign launched, I think Apple was taking a shot at normal computers and netbooks that were still considered computers. I don't think Apple claimed an iPad could replace a MacBook, but did make the argument that iPads could replace computers in the Netbook sense. đ

I couldn't agree more. I picked up the 13" M4 1TB model. I have been using it to work remotely. Pretty neat I can do my job as a Systems Administrator from only a tablet. I'm using an external monitor, then I VPN into my work network and RDP my VM. Teams is up throughout the day on my iPad display and I work fully off of the external 4k Monitor. The new magic keyboard is really nice, it is a must have.
Teams does probably need an M4 to run properly.

Finally, a channel that talks about iPad uses for musicians! Thank you SO much. The only reason I opted for a 13â was only because Iâm a pianist and I try so hard to want to stick with 11â pro upgrade this time but I just canât see the notes. iPad Pro 11â silver with white keyboard is so beautiful đ but I know it will just end up sitting in my room untouched like my iPad Air 4. I just canât use it to its best potential. It really comes down to your own personal use. I like 11â portability but I need 13â for work purposes which sucks đ . At least itâs lighter than the previous models, letâs see if I will actually like it.

This is a great review! I have a MacBook for video and photography work, but for occasional photo editing, watching videos and sketching for my videos iPad is perfect. I ordered mine today and Iâm going to pick it up later today. 12.9 was way too big for me, and I realized that 10.5 iPad Pro was my favorite iPad mainly because of its size.

Finally a review calling it like it is, I also got the M4 11â 1TB, had the M2 which was good but love that the M4 is lighter, faster, best Oled screen, camera in landscape, upgraded magic keyboard & pencil. Normally I like bigger screens but here I like lighter and the smaller screen to compliment my MacBook Air 13.

My first ipad was the 11 inch 2020 which i gave to my daughter for college. Then i got the 12.9 inch m1 pro. Next came the ipad mini 6 and then the m1 ipad air. Now I have the 11 inch m4 pro. I love ipads, clearly lol

I am currently experimenting with going iPad only for a few weeks and so far so good. If I still worked in radio you can run an entire radio station automation system from an iPad.
You really can create an entire setup with a good USB/Thunderbolt hub!
Yes, long time iPad user with ForeScore. Fabulous product. I bought my M2 iPad Pro just last year, so it will be a while before I upgrade, but the addition of the new keyboard is a winner for me. I have many keyboards for my iPad, including the Magic Keyboard, but it's just too cramped on the 12" version. I do use the Logitech ComboTouch. It's the best one for the older units. Still heavy. No wifi needed. And yes, I'm not wild about the iOS environment. Horrible to try and find documents. Good review. Thanks again.

Awesome review. All the others are voicing the same thing, wanting Mac OS in their iPad. Those reviewers doesnât know how to use their iPad to maximize their usefulness and just want to skip to go on what THEY already know and comfortable to use which is a MAC OS. An iPad is a Tablet not a Laptop.

Iâve been using my new M4 iPad Pro 13 inch with one terabyte for the past three days strictly for photo editing in Lightroom and Photoshop and wow is this thing so much faster importing raw camera files from my Sony A7rv and then when I export them and render them to JPEG. It is even faster compared to my iPad Pro 12.99 with 1tb. the new Apple Pencil Pro is so much more responsive than the second generation Apple Pencil. It donât lag like the second generation. I know thereâs a bunch of people that wish it had macOS, but I am really happy with the new M4 chip.
Good video... I am an I Pad fan and waiting for my I Pad Pro 11" M-4 to arrive to replace my I Pad Pro 11" M-1. I am defiantly not the power user you are but the I Pad Pro 11" is a great product.

One thing that seems to be overlooked in reviews is that the aspect ratio of the 13 inch model is different to that of the 11 inch model.
The resolution of the 13 inch model equates to a 4:3 aspect ratio (or 1.33:1), whereas the resolution on the 11 inch model equates to about 1.45:1, i.e. a bit wider.
This makes it a nicer "shape" for content consumption. In my opinion, anyway!

Question, how would you rate the battery life on the M4 iPad Pro as opposed to the M2 iPad Pro now that it uses a tandem OLED display and an M4 chip?
Thank you! I'll need to test for a longer period, but the M4 means it can do all the same tasks with less power. And in my podcast editing experience the battery life has been great, but the last M2 iPad Pro I used was a 12.9-inch (larger battery). It seems on par at a glance I suppose?
Finally a review done by a pro.
Though comparison with mini is a bit brutal.
It's hard, I still love the mini, and after this review I spent some time reading on the 11" Pro and it becomes clear the mini still wins in that regard.

You explained it perfectly - It is all according to everyone's use case - what fits their specific needs best. I upgraded to the M4 iPad Pro 13 from the M1 iPad Pro 12.9 and haven't looked back. I have another M1 iPad Pro 11" that is performing another function when I am in my studio. I also have the Mac Studio for the heavy lifting cases. But it is easy to ping the iPads if you don't need it and can poo pah them randomly. Too much negative talking heads on CZcams that really don't need the real features that this iPad has now.

Youâre welcome! I find it no more fatiguing, and the fidelity of the display is top-notch, so no negatives coming from an M2 at all.

Absolutely loved this video, and the positivity about the iPad. I donât want macOS on the iPad, but I DO want them to fix the bugs! So many bugs and quirks that I wish Apple would make a priority! Like electron apps not rendering content correctly (ie LinkedIn). Or scrolling with the Magic Trackpad just stops working, requiring a reboot. Or my external display going black and requiring an iPad restart to fix it. Or the pencil scribble feature grabbing my words half-way through me finishing writing the word, which only seems to happen after Iâve been writing a few sentences. These are not new features Iâm asking for to make the iPad more powerful, theyâre existing features that I want to work properly. Again, Apple needs to prioritize iPadOS to make iPadOS reliable and rock solid!
Does the Apple Pencil really help? Iâm curious because Iâm looking at potentially getting it, but I do not do any type of drawing, but I could see using it for my audio editing and logic. Mainly the 11 inch

Hey there! I have a question, for uni. and watching movie-shows yt etc. Which one should i buy; ipad air m2 11" or ipad pro m2 11" (all of them with pencil tho) ? In my country the ipad pro m2 11" is 5k more than new ipad air so which one is better for long term? New ipad is 2 years younger and it will be get more updated that's the two reason im stuck with it: m2 pro price and update stuff... đ€·đ»ââïž and also is it big enough 11"? I want to buy the 13" but the price diff is literally 10k its so much tho. I would like to state that the iPad I bought can be updated for at least 6-7 years and that I want to use it for a very long time without lag or other problems.

Unfortunately you have to get a new M4 iPad Pro to use the keyboard, it's not backwards compatible.
Great video. I am getting a 11" iPad Pro but can't decide if I should just get a 512gb model or get the 1T model to get the bigger 16g RAM & the better M4 chip. What do you suggest?
If you plan on doing the multi-iPhone filming with Final Cut or editing with LumaFusion, maybe it would be worth it. Otherwise the 512 will be great and you wonât likely notice the RAM difference.

If you already have a Mac and display setup, I think the 11" is the perfect compliment. I'm really enjoying going back to 11" after three years of the 12.9
Awesome video. You can now select the audio output on iPad. Itâs been one of my biggest issues with iPadOS when using a monitor with no speakers. Secondly Iâve noticed stage manager is now automatically launched to same settings as when I dock my iPad Pro as of 17.5 which is awesome as that was annoying too.
Thank you! And where do you find that audio output setting? When I attach a USB mic it asks whether or not Iâm connecting âheadphones,â which strangely I have to choose yes because I also plug in headphones to the mic. But itâs not very clear for users who arenât savvy to that distinction.
@@beardfm not sure about input but output you pull down the menu and click on the audio symbol in now playing and it will give you the option of the display or other connected devices including the iPad. Itâs ridiculously hidden! Great for most monitors as iPad speakers are much better! Different if you have an old Thunderbolt Display or studio display but still nice to have the choice. Itâs only a recent thing (last 6 months or so I think).
Absolutely agree, BTW I use an iPad mini to edit on Ferrite too đ⊠and donât want to see MacOs on the iPad but having said that iPadOS absolutely needs a better and more reliable Files app (file management on an iPad is a chore), Background process that would allow to have more powerful and better apps⊠even a proper clipboard managerâŠbut the main thing would be avoidingâfreezingâ the iPad when itâs exporting, multiple audio and improvements to Stage ManagerâŠand Apple not treating it as a companion product just to sell it along a Mac, case point being the iPad event, the tagline at the end said filmed on iPhone edited on Mac AND iPad⊠itâs like telling me that the iPad couldnât have handled the finished product, but it canâŠspecially if they give color correction to Final Cut Pro for iPad⊠đ
Great points. I should have mentioned background processing, and choosing where ti save the export before the process so I can swipe away and the finished files ends up where I want.

Editing podcasts so heavily is intriguing. I really don't listen to many if any podcasts that require so much work. All the ones i listen to are either just one long podcast with zero cuts, or have maybe a few cuts for an ad, an intro and outro. Whats the kind of podcast you work on where you need to make such an astounding number of edits?
I'm just particular about the final edit, removing mouth clicks and dead space that strip silence didn't catch. Plus I add intro / outdo music, and chapters with images throughout, which Ferrite makes very easy to do.

I cant decide between ipad air 13inch or ipad pro 11inch (In 256gb theres no big price difference). I really want bigger screen but pro 13inch its just too expensive. So i would like some advice for what to choose, like pro has face id, ProMotion, oled, raytracing and other cool features. Pro is obviously better but my question is if its still worth getting a bit smaller ipad pro11inch with all features even tho im gonna draw and take notes a lot on it? or should i get bigger 13inch ipad air and give up all those pro features? The OLED display and ProMotion for gaming would make a big difference too. What do you think you'll use it for the most? If note taking and drawing are the priorities, and you'd like more canvas for that, I'd say iPad Air 13". If you plan to play a lot of games, or you're just very attuned to display quality, it may be worth going with the 11" Pro. You could also look for an M2 or M1 model of the 12.9" iPad Pro which is still an incredible device!
I tend to agree - from a hardware perspective the new iPad Pro is the ideal tablet, I donât see how they make it materially better (other than eventual spec bumps, etc.) This thing is perfect. Thatâs the tablet itself - you could reasonably say the same about the pencil (except Iâd like to see an eraser on the back.)
However, the keyboard is too thick and heavy. Donât get me wrong, itâs wonderful and a dramatic improvement. However, it hasnât reached its platonic ideal like the iPad Pro itself. It will be tough to get there - leverage and balance is not on their side.
Also, I think people are wrong about the nano texture glass. I think itâs sublime. (My wife has the glossy, I have the nano texture.) I am 100% happy with the choice.

Great Video. I donât even get a keyboard for any of my iPads I use them exclusively as tablets I have a Macbook and Studio for that. People need to stop trying to male the iPad into a Macbook and they will enjoy it more. I have a a Mini 6, M1 11 Pro and a 2018 12.9 Pro. I donât see myself getting another large iPad as the 11 and Mini are the best sized ones for dedicated tablet use.

I love the Ipad but the laptop like experience is kinda sucks still, thanks to the lack of software support.
In single core: The M4 iPad Pro achieved a single-core score of 4,001 points, 28% faster than the M3 Max in the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The M4 also defeated the M2 Ultra from the Mac Studio by a significant 44% margin.
This M4 is a HUGE jump, I felt the M2 and M3's were stop gaps. That M1 really was a game changer though.

Hi. On my white iPad Magic Keyboard from 2020 the white is stained from black iPad cover of my other iPad. Is this new keyboard also susceptible to staining?
Wow Iâve never seen that before. Itâs probably too early to say, but the aluminum palm rest wonât stain long term. The outer material is the same though, so if your previous model stained the new one may as well.
I just hope wwdc will announce some enhancements iPadOS that'll let it run more computer apps so I can have visual studio code on it, and not need my laptop anymore.
Iâm hopeful too. Apple announced âdesktop class appsâ last year but havenât seen that materialize really

Nope, glossy. The nano-texture loses a little color saturation and black levels

It takes some getting used to, especially the half size keys like tab and ] \ but I enjoy typing on it just fine!
Iâm still waiting for the nano screen. Earliest is may 31. No explanation for why such a delay

I got the 1TB version, mostly because I deal with a lot of WAV files and after a few months they can add up. I still clean them out periodically, but don't want to ever think about storage.

If this will be your sole computing device, and you donât have another computer, I would actually suggest the 13â M2 iPad Air. The larger screen will be worth it.

I typically go silver on iPad, and I have a Space Black MacBook Pro already. I find the Space Black isnât dark enough for my liking, so silver / white it is!

I had a Surface for work at a previous company. That was an awful tablet and an annoying laptop⊠please leave Mac and iPad in their own lanes.

That's a tough question. What are you studying or what will be your common workflows? The iPad *could* be that all-in-one device, but if you plan to do video editing, music production, graphic design and page layout, some of those uses cases are still not ideal here.

We've had a debate on the Primary Technology podcast on whether the tip should face the buttons or away. In all of Apple's marketing images the tip faces away, and admittedly makes it easier when removed to use. But I've always had it face the volume buttons for some reason!
How is the picture quality? I have been hearing about graininess and I still have my fears about burn in. I have an M2 iPad Pro and as long as it can still get the majority of the AI features that are to come I will be happy not to replace it.

I returned it. The iPad mini 6 is a much better form factor for an iPad and does everything an iPad should do.
Mini is a great iPad and I've been using it every day for months! For my use case the ProMotion and bigger screen make a meaningful difference.
Totally agree with the iPad should not be running MacOS. I think Apple should continue to flesh it out with touch-focused desktop features, but not while sacrificing tablet usability. I think iPadOS is headed in the right direction with Stage Manager and the suite of pro software slowly trickling into the App Store thanks to the Mac chips coming to iPad.
My last iPad was a 2018 12.9â iPad Pro with the A12X processor and it got me through grad school for music. I decided to buy the 11â M2 iPad Air this year because the M2 enables me to use all the same software as the M4, albeit at sometimes a little less speed, and I find the P3 gamut IPS LCD to be excellent. I own multiple great OLED displays so I know what Iâm missing out on, but also this LCD is one of the best if not the best edge-lit LCDs money can buy.
$600 for MacBook Air performance in an 11â tablet is awesome. But, the fact they also were able to get an M4 in an even slightly slimmer form factor is insanity. iPads are Appleâs coolest product.

My biggest usage is gonna be watching videos and reading online books this will be my first iPad and Iâm stuck between the 11âinch vs the 13âinchâŠ..I also might start online school Soon take that into consideration
If this is going to be your only / primary device, the 13â is likely a better option if you can swing it. If you already have a desktop / laptop, then the 11â is a nice portable companion.

I see my battery going fast with my new iPad Pro m4 (I have the 11") My other iPad Pro (2018) battery does a way better work, so I don't know if it is my iPad or all iPad m4

This is all brand new to me...I need a product that I can do dictation for a serious book and a lengthy program. I am also preparing 2-3 unique YT channels and want more than my iPhone15 for those, and I am an artist so for sketches, ideas etc. Finally for art photography to organize my photos with quotes on them in a format that they then can be manufactured into posters, notecards, etc. Is this too much would an Air be all I need? Hey Diane! The iPad Air would be great for all that. I would suggest the 13â for the art tasks and if you plan to edit video on it. Dictation wise, I would consider third party apps truly made for that kind of task, like Otter.

What prompted you to buy the 11â rather than the 13â?.. because basing from your use case a 13â makes more sense.
Since podcast editing is the main use case for my iPad, the 11" is easier to hold. I've tried various stands and mounts, but it's the most comfortable holding it. And since I'm dealing with only 2-3 tracks at a time, I have enough screen real estate on the 11" but it's lighter and more manageable than the 13"

13in isn't superior compared to the 11in, the size that you prefer is the right one to get. Both are superior

My main use case involves holding it for long periods of time. The 11â is more manageable for me.
@@beardfm yeah sorry if I came off like a jerk I'm an artist so I need the biggest screen possible. If it came in bigger than 13 I would buy that. Ideally probably 15 in would be my preference
