Years ago I saw a VH1 interview with producer Chips Moman who said this song was originally written for Elvis but he turned it down because he took exception to the line about ‘a strangers gonna eat my ass’. Apparently, Elvis was notorious for his distain of assplay. Good thing for us otherwise we would have never had this Mariah Barton classic!

When I was a kid, I remember the guy next door blasting this song day after day. I did not find out until several years later what a glory hole was.
As a little kid, i always taught is was for putting my icecream sitck whan i took a wee so i got both hands free, i mean, the hole was allredy wet and soggy from other kids icecream i guees, so it made sense whan i first wisited the motel outside the Barton ranch with my father, i remember ha often payed a wisit there whan we where driving by, You know, paperwork, he said, lots of paperwork and he said Mr Barton needed help with things on the farm...
