Maybe I'm a sucker for stories involving fantasy, magic, creatures, knights, etc. but Waterhouse's painting "Lamia" has it all for me. The look on the young knight's face is enough to crumple your knees, and the fact that the fair maiden is anything but.......Oh Wow!

I love "Boreas". It' may not be the most colorful painting, but te portrait of the girl is so striking and enchanting. You can almost feel the wind. Stunning!

I am really drawn to Sweet Summer by JWW. The women stretched out on the ground by the fountain, fan at her side, just enjoying the summer day and trying to cool off a bit depicts so many of us at this time. I so enjoyed the deeper look at JWW and find these videos so informative. Makes me want to look even further into so many of these artists. Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for the opportunity! My favorite John William Waterhouse paintings are the same as I listed in my comment from last week. "Lamia" and "The Lady of Shalott". Both of those paintings are full of emotion and quite beautiful.

My favourite by John William Waterhouse is “I Am Half Sick of Shadows,” said the Lady of Shalott. I have loved this painting for many years and now have the kit in my dp stash. I can relate to this image as I also stitch and often sit back and stretch to relieve the shoulder tension.

Not an e. n. try for the trays, but wanted to say that this is one of the hidden gems I'm pleased to have been exposed to since I started diamond art about 10 months ago - learning about artists I would otherwise never have heard of. Ordinarily, this type of artwork is not my style at all, but after watching this video, the Circe Offering painting REALLY speaks to me! Every day's a school day, and all that! 🤗🥰

Hi Katie, thank you so much for the lovely lecture on the work by John William Waterhouse! I wasn't familiar with his artwork but I love the style and the emotions he expresses in his work! I love your "Destination" canvas! From the other ones "Tempest" appeals strongest to me, because of the Shakespearian influences and the strong dark colours! (I am an English teacher and fond of classic literature..., and art). I definetely intend to order a custom of that painting!!!! So, thank you so much, I learnt a lot this time in this wonderful, wonderful event!
Love from the Netherlands! Willeke de Greef.

I absolutely loved this video!! Thank you so much for putting this out there. JWW is one of my favorite painters. My most favorite is "The Soul a Rose " I am so thankful to have completed the DP kit from Distracted By Diamonds in last years event. I have loved this piece even before I knew what it was called or who the artist was. I had a bookmark that I found left in a book that I had checked out from the library. That bookmark was of this painting. I must have been 16 or 17 years old WAY back then and I still have the bookmark. When Jessica did "I'm half sick of Shadows...." And shared about the artist and his other paintings I gasped because I now knew who painted that painting on my bookmark. So...when Distracted By Diamonds released the kit...I had to have it! It is my favorite kit that I have completed thus far! (minus the crappy dark drills)
My next favorite JWW paintings are
    A Mermaid
    Ophelia
    Half Sick of Shadows...

  • @stickingwithdiamonds9529

Thanks, Katie!! John William Waterhouse is my favorite Old Master's artist for diamond paintings. I prefer colorful oil paintings for diamond paintings because subtle shading is so hard to achieve in diamond painting. I have several of his pieces in my stash and my favorite is "Soul of the Rose!"

  • @kcfield601
    @kcfield601 Před 2 lety

So hard to decide with Waterhouse paintings. All are so good. The 2 I have come up with is Sleep and His Half Brother Death. What emotions that can bring up. Since I have lost my twin, it brings up emotions. My twin was a girl though lol.
Second would be Lamia and the Soldier. The pleading in her face just comes bouncing off the painting. His look of pain.
Just like music, art draws on your emotions. As you get older, music/art will change those emotions to something different than it was before.

I do love all the Waterhouse art, but am especially drawn by "Mirada - The Tempest". It is an active painting with the wild waves of the ocean on the left of the painting and Miranda holding her hair and dress against the wind from the storm.

It is very very hard to choose a favorite Waterhouse piece. Lady of Shalott, Soul of the Rose, and Isabella and the Pot of Basil are probably my top three, in no particular order. I plan to deep dive into the story behind these and other works of his.

Thank you this was great. Boreal has been my favorite for a long time and I bought the HAED chart with the idea of a dp conversion. Thinking of ordering from Evermoment after watching your unboxing but will wait to see how you make out!

I really love Circe Invidiosa by JWW. I could picture using greenish blue ABs for the bowl of potion she is pouring into the water.

It is hard to just choose one but I have two favourites, Pandora and Circe Invidosa. I love learning about the artists muse or inspiration for the piece.

"The Shrine" has been calling me to diamond paint it since last year. Maybe I'll be able to get a custom of it in the future.

The paintings you have shown are so beautiful however the one that I really am drawn to is Boreas. I love the way he has captured her struggle of her keeping her scarf from blowing away with the wind. All his paintings show so much emotion. I love it. 💖💖💖

I think my favorite is Boreas. It is really dark which is the only reason I haven't had it made into a custom.

The Unwelcome Companion - A Street Scene In Cairo is by far my favourite Waterhouse painting, I know it isn't a well-known piece in the Diamond Painting community but I will for sure order a custom of it soon.
If you want to know more about John William, Lenka D dud just put up a video about him and she is amazing when it comes to old masters knowledge ❤️

I wasn’t really familiar with John William Waterhouse, but my favorite has to be the lady of shallot.
