Honestly it is hard to look at US for good model of democracy. The situation is getting worse when we see the confusing model of woke radical movement from US. I don’t think Asia look at US the same way we did in 1980’s. It is sad story!

In the conversation with Larry Diamond, the state of global democracy is a central topic. Diamond observes that democracy has been in a prolonged recession since the mid-2000s, with a decline in the number of democracies worldwide. He highlights the challenges posed by illiberal populism in countries like India, Mexico, Hungary, Turkey, and Brazil.
Additionally, Diamond emphasizes the increasing influence and allure of authoritarian states like China due to their ability to make quick decisions and investments in infrastructure. He stresses the importance of the rule of law in fostering sustainable development and suggests the need to invest in institutions that can enforce regulations effectively. Lastly, Diamond expresses concerns about China's aspirations for regional hegemony and the potential risks associated with conflicts in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait.

Otherwise we wouldn't be hearing debacles about these jailed/fleeing/dead people like Julian Assange, Daniel Hale, Danid McBride, Edwards Snowden (fled to Russia), Gonzalo Lira (dead).
