Sama sekali ga diungkit soal banyak intervensi USA di Timur Tengah, Apakah intervensi USA di Timur Tengah jadi menghasilkan negara demokrasii??
Intervensi usa kebanyakan utk membela yg lemah.
@@WillGive membela yg lemaaaah? T.O.K.A.I. 😂

Honestly it is hard to look at US for good model of democracy. The situation is getting worse when we see the confusing model of woke radical movement from US. I don’t think Asia look at US the same way we did in 1980’s. It is sad story!
To be honest, Indonesia is more democratic in many ways than US.
To some degrees US is also an authorian country.
@@paulianas1782 I would say that China and Russia are also more democratic that the USA. The USA has become a totalitarian regime.
It is noted that the professor is an intelligent individual, good rhetoric, but refuses to leave the academic bubble and the uniform narrative of the mainstream, very much in tune with it, by the way... does he see the exceptionalism of the "big stick" and the vassalage of "Borell's garden"?
If the "professor" sees it, he will look away.

TOP!
Menunggu Goenawan Mohamad diundang ke podcast ini.
gw ketawa senyum gitu mendengarkan profesor ini.
Wow
In the conversation with Larry Diamond, the state of global democracy is a central topic. Diamond observes that democracy has been in a prolonged recession since the mid-2000s, with a decline in the number of democracies worldwide. He highlights the challenges posed by illiberal populism in countries like India, Mexico, Hungary, Turkey, and Brazil.
Additionally, Diamond emphasizes the increasing influence and allure of authoritarian states like China due to their ability to make quick decisions and investments in infrastructure. He stresses the importance of the rule of law in fostering sustainable development and suggests the need to invest in institutions that can enforce regulations effectively. Lastly, Diamond expresses concerns about China's aspirations for regional hegemony and the potential risks associated with conflicts in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait.

No one talks about Yemen. So many children have died in Yemen during the past eight years.

Only real in western imperialist narratives 101.

Demokrasi ala AS sangat tidak relevan diterapkan di Indonesia. Negara Multi etnik dengan model demokrasi ala AS mudah untuk dipecah belah Devide et Empera, seperti itulah kelakuan AS di berbagai Negara di Afrika
Contohlah Singapore daripada China atau AS.
I agree rule if law is the key. The problem is who cares about law if you don't have food on the table. It's a very complicated and complex issue, and the rule of law is not the answer for everything!! People are not stupid, but, if they are hungry.....
After you satisfy your hunger, do you go for rule of law or greed? He mentioned about Asian hegemoney...
@@WillGive of course rule of law. The question here is whose rules??? Whose laws??
@@WillGive Asian "hegemoney"??? So???
@@donnydrumpf9563 As long as the law is fair, who cares whose laws
@@donnydrumpf9563 Asian hegemony from his inference means If you're ready to live under a communist dictator, if you're ready to keep your communication limited, if you're ready to be taken away without judicial review, etc. I don't wish to live in that condition.
The worlds largest democracy, India, is in serious decline with lots of muscling and bullying from, egislation, the courts, continued vote buying. Really scary to see
Does it really matter if India stops being democratic? Not really. Life will go on as usual for most Indian people, just as before. There's no reason to play chicken little. They sky won't fall.
I don't know why American don't understand that democracy is luxurious thing in the third world countries. Like the Maslow pyramid of need said that democracy or another life values will be achieved when the stomach is not hungry anymore.
Bagus penjelasannya! Tapi kalau mereka yg sudah punya prejudice, memang susah nerima pandangan Larry. Saya rasa banyak yg ngga dengarin semuanya tapi langsung komen.
Inget taun 60an kita diobok2 mereka sampe ancur! Inget 98?!

Sombongnya minta ampun ni bule, die kira semua orang pengen jd amrik. Nope!

Does democracy really have to be saved? 🤔🤔
There's wasn't any democracy in the first place. Otherwise we wouldn't be hearing debacles about these jailed/fleeing/dead people like Julian Assange, Daniel Hale, Danid McBride, Edwards Snowden (fled to Russia), Gonzalo Lira (dead). What must be saved is the western imperialism now that they're losing it to other powers.
Lol, they just censored my previous comment here. What kind of democracy is that from your American CZcams platform, eh professor?
The US experienced a paradox, on the other hand it pushed for democratization in other countries. On the one hand, the United States uses force of arms against countries that disagree with US opinion
When and where is that? I am still learning...
@@WillGive Really?? You really don't know about it?? Hahaha.. hahaha.. hahaha..
