    This helps out a lot because ive been thinking about getting a plow like that for my 1250 but wasnt sure how it handled it because some people say hydros are only good for mowing but i know mine aint but i see how well its going for you with a hydro makes it seem good to get a plow

      It's a total beast with a single bottom plow. Those are some heavy duty old hydros.

      @@SolunaGarage yeah they are i just wasnt sure about how it would do cuz my 1250 is like yours just minus the hydro lift and sleeve hitch it has ag tires hydro transmission and after seeing this vid i really want to get a plow now for it

      I have the rear tires and front tires loaded with washer fluid, just FYI. I've also repaired the trunion on the hydro controls so it keeps a good consistent ground speed regardless of load (to an extent...)

    Nice setup! Im glad to see that my 1250 isn't the only one that whines like that from the hydrostat. Im not very knowledgeable with hydrostatic transmissions but i have a hunch mone is a bit weak. It slows down going up hills then speeds back up as i crest the top. Sometimes if im going really slow at a crawl and i hit a steep hill it will actually stop dead in its tracks. Going to try changing the hy tran fluid, hopefully that helps.

      First thing to do would be to change fluid and filter, but the other piece of that puzzle lies in the control linkages/trunion. Probably needs shimmed and have a new slot welded on, along with new springs/etc. Pretty common wear point, every high hour Cub I've had needed attention there to keep consistent speed.

      @@SolunaGarage I've already fixed the trunion, thats what leads me to believe it may be the fluid. I did change the filter when i bought the tractor last year but now i'm going to change it again along with the fluid.

      @@stever_beaver sounds like you're on the right track. Did you shim the pivot points on the cam bracket and trunion arm? I know that makes a huge difference in the amount of slop there is in the assembly.

    I just bought a 1250. Now I'm really wishing I was more mechanically inclined. These things are fun. But changing the belt is sure a bear.

      Which belt? The PTO belt? And yeah, the vintage tractors definitely are a challenge if you aren't used to the tinkering.

      @@SolunaGarage Sorry. Didn't realize you replied. The belt I was changing, that took forever (and another person's help) was the deck belt. Such a pain to get balanced.

    Where can you get parts for the for hydraulic I want to install on my 1250 yes I do want to put hydraulics on my 12:50 and I need to find the parts

    Hey again. I’ve been having some issues with my quiet line. The hood gets hot. REALLY hot. Hot enough that I can’t keep my hand on the hood for more than 5 seconds. I have my side panels on. And I’ve been running it for 45 minutes in mid 80 degree weather. It never gets any hotter than that. After it gets to that 5 second time, (usually in a minute or 2), it never gets any hotter. Is this ok? It’s more hot near the exhaust. I do not have the exhaust box.

      Is it normal? Yeah. Without a guard to force the air over the muffler and no heat shield of any kind, that muffler is going to radiate a lot of heat. Mine has the muffler shield/box and it really makes a big difference.

      @@SolunaGarage here’s a better question. Is it OK? Meaning will it hurt the engine. I like to keep a tad bit of choke in while running to run cooler and richer.

      Well to be honest you want as much heat out as possible. These engines are pretty stout, but all air cooled engines need a fresh supply of air in and a clear path for the heated air out. It probably won't hurt it, but you might want to consider running with the side panels off to give it another place to breathe.
      Ideally you would run it as intended with both side panels on and a fully intact set of shrouding and muffler baffles.
      I'd also recommend setting your idle and main jets properly instead of relying on the little bit of choke to richen the mixture. Make sure your throttle shaft bore isn't all worn out, too. Pretty commonly missed component that causes them to run lean/misfire.
      Keep the throttle wide open, keep the cooling fins clean, and keep the timing and tuneup components in check. The K Series will last forever with basic maintenance.

      Depends on the application. Heavy load or heavy drawbar work yes. Better to keep things cool and airflow up.

      @@SolunaGarage gosh this has been my issue Iv been scared to run it wide open I just rebuilt it it’s my baby. I’m very emotionally invested in mine my grandad bought it used in the 80s rebuilt it it was the last thing he gave upon when he began to go blind and get dementia. I have a video of mine tilling if you wanna check it out

      All the tractors we ever had on the farm was sitting on the governor when working. These were tractors mostly built in the mid 60s, each and everyone of them still runs to this day, and at times are prefered over the much new fleet available to use. I realize there is a different between a single or v twin gas over an I4 perkins, but tractor engines are meant for heavy loads, sitting as high as the governor allows. Make sure your governor is in good working order, gage the throttle and let it work. Something else to think about. I have a wheel horse 310-8 with a k241 kohler, built in the early 80s. Running on original build, it's never worked and been on anything less than the governor, and it's over 40 years old. Let the tractor do what it's meant too. I like the story. I have one of the original tractors bought for the farm by grand daddy. Me and him rebuilt the engine under an old maple. I feel your story bro. Have fun on yours.

      I love that a lot of us have early childhood that connects us to these things. That's definitely where my obsession came from. Things that do the work are the best kind of machines.

    Does disc help guide the plow just curious about that

      The disc is there to help cut the sod so that it turns properly.

      And you need to Set it 3/4 to one inch to the left of the share.@@SolunaGarage
