I'm leaning towards something completely different. Kai talked time travel in his vid. I think "cassandra" was..uhh will be future lizzie who travels back in time to learn some information but meets sebastian instead. He was put under that school on purpose to protect her younger self. And to not mess up the timeline sebastian is lying his butt off...but with an element of truth in it.
Last episode, without seeing the monster he knew what it was, that landon wasn't in danger but lizzie was and he brought the weapon to kill it. Its almost like he knew the monster would come for her before it did and was only concerned with protecting her. Also his cover story is full of holes. Why did cassandra give him a necklace to protect him (he can't use cause he isn't a witch) and put him in a box. Also how can he have seen his girl die when he was in a box. And the monster ripped her limb from limb.....that monster kills by sucking its victims. Yeah sebastian is full of crap.

@@talentmnisi3994 Exactly. It also explains his behaviour in the episodes before. He was desperate to find his body and get out but she kept looking for him...she summoned him. Thats why he was with her when he really should be looking for his body. Thats why he asked her to stop looking for him. And he wasn't afraid she would hurt him....he was afraid that monster would hurt her if he wasn't out of the box in time to protect her from it.
Its kinda romantic. She breaches time to be with him and he gets into a box and breaches time to be with her. She is his great love.
