PECAT - Pipeline Cleanliness Assessment

PECAT™ is a pigging based inspection tool developed by Pipeline Engineering primarily to measure how clean a pipeline is, particularly prior to high resolution inline inspection and the decommissioning of pipelines. Using state of the art unique sensor and data logging technology, in one pigging run, the PECAT™ tool can measure location and quantity of debris in the pipeline, as well as record the other parameters, such as ovality (caliper), temperature and differential pressure.
While the PECAT™ pipeline cleanliness assessment tool is normally used prior to high resolution inline inspection and the decommissioning of pipelines; it can also be used as part of ongoing pigging campaigns in operational pipelines to ensure deposit build--up in the pipeline is kept under control.

Engineering and accuracy is definitely a plus. I would suggest for future models the features of imagery, such as infrared and other imagery technology. It would bring even more details and presentation.

by closing the trap valve to stop the flow behind the scrapper

There is enough room ar end pipe where flow won't go, which the pig push to without reaching the trap door.
At 3:46 you can see a pipe coming out of the pipe before the trap door, the pig will bypass that pipe and push toward close to the trap door, while fluid flow through the pipe that come out from the side.

That looks like one low resolution tool.

Hi Brett, the tool is not a corrosion measurement tool, however it meets API 1163 for it Caliper capability. Its primary purpose is measurement of internal debris, and we have had many successful runs as part of an enhanced cleaning program with looks of satisfied operators. Happy to discuss more.Mick
