    I am doing my prep right now. I was told to mix my prep w 2 32oz bottles of gatorade. I am using one lemon lime and one 33oz bottle of grapefruit sparkling water at room temperature. This is my 5th or 6th colonoscopy, and this flavor combo is PERFECT. I am so relieved.
    PUN INTENDED. 😅

    Prescription prep? Just get a 238 gram bottle of Miralex and mix it with clear Gatorade, and a couple of Dulcolax pills. I actually ate eggs and white bread the day before my procedure and my physician rated my prep a 10 out of scale of 10. Look at what recent studies are saying. People who eat a small amount of macaroni and cheese the day before do perfectly fine in conjunction with the prep drink.

    They gave me Peglyte = polyethylene glycol and electrolytes. PEG is human grade anti-freeze! And it is gross to drink. Not to mention that you have to drink 2 litres in 1 hour then another 2 litres 5 hours before the procedure. It is the same thing as Golytely just a different brand.
    Bowel movement is an overstatement. Anal squirting is a more apt description.

      Gatorade has electrolytes, but water doesn't. If you were just taking water, I think you would need to figure out a different way to get electrolytes. For example, I make my own with salt, potassium etc for my own daily hydration needs, so maybe there are alternatives to gatorade. Coconut water and broths have some electrolytes in them, for example.
      I don't know what is required for colonoscopy prep though, so you should ask your doctor about this. You will be losing a lot of electrolytes and not having the right amount and ratio of electrolytes during this process could potentially make you feel ill and give you dehydration complications I imagine. (saying this as someone that just deals with dehydration issues, not medical advice)

      Some of the facilities have gone to this split routine because mucous secretions continue to be made after you stop drinking the swill and MAY occlude the visuals of your intestinal lining. If you split the dose less time for this buildup. Unfortunately this can mean getting up on the middle of the night to start the second portion if your appointment is early in the morning since you have to gag it down AND finish up a few hours hours before then. At least you’ll nap through the procedure!

    • @therustyduck5400
      @therustyduck5400 Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks Sue, it wasn’t that bad, not in a hurry to do it again though haha! The nap was nice. Haha

    • @suebell5870
      @suebell5870 Před 3 měsíci +2

      Well, my problem with it is just the sheer volume of what you have to drink. It could be something I like ordinarily like lemonade for example, but that amount of anything to drink is just difficult. In order to make things easier I eating a lot less food in the days leading up to the procedure. (Less input, less output!). Once I’ve reached the half way point things are pretty cleared out. My 6th colonoscopy is coming up later this week, lucky me!
