    Thanks for this video it helped me a lot for the preparation. As mentioned in this video and believe me guys, the toughest part is preparation.
    For me, a day before the colonoscopy, I took off from work and did following;
    1. I only took clear fluids e.g. water, Ginger Ale, Tang (flavoured drink), that's it. No solid foods, no fruits, no milk, or milk products as advised. Best is having lots of water, may be you can add little salt and water if feel really exhausted. Remember you are all doing it to have your clear results. Taking lot of these sugar items will have your sugar level increased as well, so be mindful especially if you are diabetic. Last glass of water I took was around 9pm and that's it nothing after that. (i had my last meal 9pm (dinner) that is 2 days before the preparation, e.g. Sunday dinner, if my procedure was scheduled on tuesday).
    2. Took my 2 prescribed tablets @ 8am and then last @ 8pm. They had also given me 2 Picoprep(sachets) to be mix with 150ml water and have it at 2pm and 5pm. Picoprep is the one which does all the stomach clearance. I had to go at least 10 times and that is the toughest part for you running to the toilet again and again. But as many have mentioned in comments section, it's very important to get the clear results.
    On the day of procedure(Colonoscopy)
    1. In morning I again went to toilet, as still felt disturbance but nothing now.
    2. When I reached hospital for 10am appointment , They first checked my covid negative results(which I had to do 2 days before the colonoscopy as per the local process nowadays) and asked me to change the dress and lay on the bed, checked my health history briefed me about the procedure what they will do. Insert a small plastic tube (for injecting sedation)on back of my right hand palm.
    3. After that just gave sedation, and immediately I fall asleep. I woke up 35 mins later. But my wife who was waiting outside, told me that it took only 10mins for whole procedure.
    Post results
    1. By grace of God my results were clear and no complications, no sign of any UC or anything. Doctor just told me that as suspected it seems IBS and prescribed few medicine.
    For those who are scared from procudure(colonoscopy) I just want to tell you, its 100% safe. No need to worry. Just the preparation has little difficulty, but it's just as same as a normal diarrhoea, only exception that you must not take any solid food, milk, or pulp juice a day before.Do not worry, please dont stop your self from visiting doctor just because you are scared of colonoscopy. It's very important to follow doctors advice and have peaceful mind with any doubts of your complication. For me, atleast I'm assured that little pain I was having for last 6 months in my left lower abdomen was nothing serious to colon but Spastic Colon.
    I wish you all the best and God bless.

    Straight forward, informative and to the point. A great review for me, as I had a colonoscopy a few years ago. Please everybody, follow this to the letter because you do not want to go through it again, unnecessarily. Temporary discomfort to avoid colon cancer, soooo worth it. I knew a lady who did not want to do this, and she is no longer with us. Colonoscopies save lives- so do it right.

    I had my Colonoscopy and woke up during the procedure, all I can recall saying was that, "it hurt!", and the doctor said to the nurse, "More Gas". I then woke up in the recovery area. This was 11 years ago, and I am due again next month. I'm going to tell them that I don't want to wake up during the procedure.

      I also woke up during my colonoscopy, but I didn't hurt.
      I could see the monitor and got a glimpse of the inside of my colon, then I went back to sleep.
      I remember thinking later that I'm sure glad the sedative they gave me isn't available OTC.

    My prep for colonoscopy was so easy as per my doctors instructions one day before my procedure by 12pm I added one bottle of unflavored miralax to 64 oz of lime cucumber Gatorade and had it.
    Left 2 glasses of the remaining mixture for the nighttime to have by 3:30am the taste was good.

      If you are being sedated and you should be, believe me, it is entirely painless. It is often called conscious sedation because you aren’t completely out . I was awake enough to watch mine on the screen but felt nothing. You aren’t sore afterwards. You may have some pretty spectacular farts though. The prep is the worst part of it. Don’t plan on being too far from your bathroom. Follow it carefully though. I have had four and no sweat!

    12 hours before your procedure have a meal . After that only liquids clear ones is a must . Night before your procedure drink all that gallon of salty water . I used chicken broth for flavor just enough on top of my tongue so I could continue drinking the solution. First dose I drank 3 liter of this liquid from 9:30 pm till midnight. Nothing happens. Then , between midnight and 3 am got cramping, blotted, those were the signs. It must looks clear , continue drinking the liquid my next dose 3:30 am and last 5:30 am it works . Everything looks clear and ready to get this procedure done and over with . Is not too bad is you discipline yourself. Do not eat anything just drink clear fluids , you'll be fine. Is only per one day . Your colon will thank you . 😊

      Did you have a successful colonoscopy? I've found conflicting information over what foods are allowed the day before. This video says "NO FOOD" only clear liquids, and in another, I've found that foods like rice and fish are ok, only the day before. The day OF, clear liquids of course. My concern is that my procedure isn't until 3pm, so if I followed this advise, I would technically not be able to eat any solid food for almost 2 days.

    What do you do with the Bisacosdyl 5 mg delayed release? It does say it does say take the 2 tablets at 4 pm. on the day before procedure, but making sure.
    Oh and the other thing they gave me was gas relief 80mg chewable and it says take by mouth per gastroenterology dept. colonoscopy instructions. So with that one do I just bring and take when they tell you to take during the procedure? Hmm?

    • @angryoldman9140
      @angryoldman9140 Před rokem +2

      Because scans like that cannot remove the Polyps (growths on the inside of your intestines that may or may not cancerous or turn cancerous). During the colonoscopy the surgeon will remove all the polyps they see, take biopsy to see if they are cancerous, and then prevent you from getting cancer!

    • @angryoldman9140
      @angryoldman9140 Před rokem +2

      Also I think because of how much stool is inside the colon and how small the polyps can be, it would be impossible to diagnose from a scan. It would be impossible to see the polyps unless they were already massive and there just happened to be no stool covering it at that exact moment.

    Question...
    I'm 41 and have to have a colonoscopy done soon. I've had blood in my stool since Dec 26th and I'm going on on Feb 8th. There is some speculation that I have ulcerative colitis. My concern is that all of this prep work, is only going to increase the loss of blood that I've been currently having...And increase my symptoms from this disease. This just doesn't seem like a very safe idea at this point in time. Any information regarding this, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
