      This place isn't about this kind of rock. I'm sure at one point, there were more British musicians in the american rock and roll hall of fame than the American pioneers. Like he said, the record was live, but people aren't interested in the raw and real anymore.

      +lordXAVIJAANBJERGNOG Rock N Roll was started by Americans, specifically People of Melanin Skin. I believe the audience lack the knowledge of Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. That is probably why there was a lack of enthusiasm.

    I didn't know Frankie Lymon since I saw the movie about 8years ago. He had such a talent. I don't know how much of the movie is true, but if three ladies fought over him, he must of did something right. I enjoy his music and it's sad that he didn't have anyone to talk to him when he was depressed without his music. He had a hard life and will live forever by his fans. A.

      @13NJJACK Před 5 lety +9

      The movie should have been about the highs and lows of Frankie,and not the women that fought over him.5 kids from Harlem who set the country on fire and even played for the Queen of England.Frankie was so talented,but the movie could have been more powerful.

    • @dangelo1369
      @dangelo1369 Před rokem +2

      Unfortunately, Frankie Lymon's personal demons caught up to him and he died at an early age (25) of a heroin overdose. He had been sober up until then and decided to have a celebration when he was signed to a recording contract which would have signalled a comeback. He died in his grandmother's apartment in Washington Heights, the building still exists. His brother, Lewis Lymon sang with The Teenagers along with Jimmy Castor for a time until both went on to have successful solo careers. Lewis Lymon died in 2013 and Jimmy Castor died in 2012.

    Could someone set the record straight. Smokey Robinson was inducted in 1987 along with Frankie Lymon at least in his Book but his Fellow Miracles were not. It's so sad to see so many R & B Singers from the 1950's stand onstage and receive their honor but not have a true penny to their name.

    • @dangelo1369
      @dangelo1369 Před 4 lety +5

      Smokey Robinson & The Miracles were also inducted into the R&R HoF. An oversight that was finally remedied. But there are many artists who are inducted individually and as part of the group. For example; Michael Jackson was inducted twice; as a solo artist and as part of the Jackson 5.

      It's called "Statute of Limitations". In this case, the plaintiffs brought their suit 25 years after the S o L had expired; you get only 7 years after the injury or tort to file suit.
      In the case of "The Teenagers", three had already died (Frankie Lymon's estate was still in litigation due to his bigamous relationships with 3 women) and the remaining two weren't aware until the new rendition had become a hit.
      Back in the day, unscrupulous producers would take advantage of artists and basically steal their rights away from them. It still occurs today; see the example of "The Sugar Hill Gang" and their long fight to their name: czcams.com/video/g9bQtjyace8/video.html So even in the "Hip Hop Era" it still happens.
      To show you how grimy and dirty the record business is, read this essay from Courtney Love (Yes, THAT Courtney Love) and see how artists are systematically ripped off: www.salon.com/2000/06/14/love_7/ and www.gerryhemingway.com/piracy2.html
      Plus read Cracked.com article on how the music industry REALLY works: www.cracked.com/personal-experiences-1288-7-things-record-deal-teaches-you-about-music-industry.html
