The Smuggler specific strategy for the boom here is maintaining a small number of territory, then abandoning one or two--this drops your cost to annex down super duper low like ~30 authority, then you spread out and simultaneously annex ~10 regions at the same time. I was trying to call it out and stop it because it is a super vulnerable strategy, but when i had to go deal with the fremen boom it gave doghead the room to complete it.

@@Grifthin Chances are very low or distant. They're probably my least favorite faction and I'm not qualified to guide for them right now. Ask Turin, he plays them all the time and actually seems to enjoy that suffering!

The exact numbers are 54 authority/region and you can cap 9 at the same time, hopefully one being the special region you abandoned. Ideally you can spike 7.4k hedge with research center this way. Time the building of said research center with spice tax, and you get a fat 9k boom total. It is extremely vulnerable though since you have to spread units out to multi-cap.
You ideally sit on 3 special regions and abandon one, forgot to add that.
A few things about Vernius.....
1. Once you have the Folder Array surrounding units are tethered so you don't need to use the Ambient Connection spell.
2. Once Automated defenses is researched (yes I know hard to get in live games) it gives each region + 2 Automated Militia. This bring the number of settlement defenders to six and combined with a missile battery gives you good stopping power against other players.
3, Vernius' Armoury provides a third armour selection for one unit. I have found placing that additional selection on the Fighting Meks makes them hit pretty hard.
Great game by all the players, well worth watching. Thanks to Turin for all the love he puts into these matches.

That said, I'm a scrub and casual who doesn't play multiplayer in strategy games, so my opinion isnt as relevant to someone who tries hard at RTS.
but I know the modding community is well loved with a variety of scifi franchises that work well online, and I think it's worth playing for the flavor alone.
Turin has made it to the finals in his own tournaments, so is Turin a professional Dune player? Only Shai-Hulud knows.

OK I have had this question a few times when watching you play Vernius. With the linking going through the desert I see sometimes that it blocks you out of more linked zones. Is there a point where you would want to unbuild and rebuild links to get it to link more?

It is weird. DSW is the only game you cover that I am actually playing atm and it is my least favorite content you do. it is just much less entertaining to watch then your other stuff. I can never tell what is going on even though I play SP sometimes.

can someone explain why vernius is considered weak? been playing them since release and they’ve been very good at what they do and fun to play. idk what im not seeing that everyone else does
I think it's more of a thing where some other houses are just better rather than vernius being flawed, which they aren't
@@r0fLc0pt3rf0rtHewiN makes sense, hoping they do a future buff or rework to the nodal network, needs to have my upside considering the obstacle it produces in layout planning
They dont have a good way to convert their tricks into wins. They have poor eco, so choam is tricky, they uave terrible landsraad even with camar so gov is hard to plan for, they also lacks strong offense, so they struggle to kill bases.
They only have decent assassination, but thats more of a tool than a win condition.
Still fun to play, but very weak.
