    Alexander Declercq - piano
audio and video recording by Julius Gass
Some months ago, Alexander and I recorded with Julius Gass the dramatic musical love story “Poème” by Ernest Chausson.
In fact, this music is very strongly inspired by the novel “The Song of Triumphant Love” by Ivan Turgenev. The story is situated in 16th century Ferrara, where the two friends Fabio and Muzzio both fall in love with the irresistible Valeria. The story unfolds deeper and deeper into a darkness where oriental magic is transmitted through a mysterious melody played by Muzzio on the violin…
If you would like to know more about it, I would absolutely recommend to read this (rather short ;-)) story that takes you away very quickly to a far away world.
Or… you can also listen to this recording in which the mystery, desire and passion of a devastating love triangle is clearly depicted in Chausson’s music.
