    Wow! Every student in the masterclasses is brilliant. I love how poetic this student made the piece sound.

    "20-year-old German-Spanish-Malaysian violinist Elias David Moncado is the youngest ever winner of the 1st grand prize at the International Karol Lipinski Violin Competition." I was particularly impressed with his shimmering vibrato tone in the opening phrases -- so elegant and tasteful.

    Some teachers have the gift of making a student sound better. Others have the gift of making them sound worse.

    So one gathers that Vengerov, in addition to speaking Russian and English fluently, also speaks German fluently?

      I think it speaks to his overall native intellect, and to his motivation, and perhaps to the relationship between music and other languages -- the main concept underpinning the Suzuki Method of violin instruction. He is not the only great violin soloist who is fluent in several languages.

    Anyone could translate professor Maxim's comments on his performance? Thx

    • @cf281
      @cf281 Před rokem

      His initial comments are more or less that the he’s not always sure of the student’s intentions in the phrasing; that he sometimes unintentionally makes a crescendo on an upbow and a diminuendo on a downbow due to the nature of the bow being heavier at the frog. Also that the music demands many different colours and thus many different vibratos and that sometimes non-vibrato is a colour the student could explore.

      These classes provide auto-translate into various languages. Turn on closed captioning and go to settings (the crank/wheel) for language options.

      17:50 Rogeri. Great playing on a nice violin. He'd only just won an international competition prior to the masterclass.
