- Checking out the new Talkpod A36plus transceiver, sent to me by a seller on Amazon. Link is below. This radio is a decent unit, the audio is spectacular in my opinion. Color screen is easy to read even outdoors. Has NOAA weather channel receive, AM Airband receive and more. Here are my thoughts in this video.

I bought one a few weeks ago and I love it!
It even receives the 220 repeater in town.
I have VFO "A" for GMRS and VFO "B" for VHF/UHF/WX/Air Band.
You cannot beat it for $50.00!
Thank you for mentioning the features for the visually impaired. I'm a visually impaired new HAM & an always on the hunt for radios with displays I can read. Next up... an HF rig.

I have two Wouxun GMRS radios, I have two expensive tri band HT’s but when I seen the talkpod I liked the looks of it so I bought it. After receiving it I liked the look and feel even better. BUT, when I seen the spurious emissions it put off as a hard core ham I returned it.
Wow... I bought one a couple of month ago... and I agree with everything you said... I also have the Yaesu FT-60... The Yaesu never leaves my desk.. When I go off-road or camping I seem to always take my Baofangs GMRS or UV5Rs because of mud, water, dropping them, etc. So I bought this one and very quickly I find myself taking this one everywhere... I have HTs and fixed radios in both of my cars... F350 4WD and Jeep... But I enjoy using this one a lot. You have the same complaint I do... the MIC cover does not want to stay in place!!!!! so much for IP rating... But if something happens to the radio I am not going to be out for 200 plus dollars like a Yaesu... Thank you!!!!
I just want a radio for my house in the woods to communicate with my wife since I bought the motorola t82 and doest last a mile. Does this radio do walkie talkie? I know ZERO about radios I just want to talk to her in the 10 miles range in the woods. Do I buy them? Two of them? Thank yoy

airband no 8.33 steps , good on airband receive , that program cover wont stay closed most of time.
As a HAM and GMRS user, for $59 it has its place. Yeah, I dont like to TX on more than one frequency at a time either. Good candidate to throw in the day bag. The only bad thing about these type of radio's is how people use them. People get these, and not knowing who uses what frequency, will start pushing buttons and end up o a fire channel which happened 2 weeks ago. A local High School uses one of the GMRS channels for their comms covering up a repeater I use. You all know what I'm talking about ! It is only getting worse. I digress ... Who knows, this may be a Baofeng in sheeps clothing. Like your videos. Keep up the good work. 73

Mine also transmits on 1.25 meters. Nearly 10 watts.
It's not "spectrally pure" but it's still a hell of a radio.

It has a good voice! What menu options speak and which options don’t speak? I am totally blind and a visual display is useless to me! This is one of the first low cost radios which spoke a frequency! Thanks

Why pay to keep up a repeater you can't use? No users makes it somebody's toy, not a community network.

If anyone is in the south Florida area our GMRS repeaters cover Miami Dade, Broward, and into the keys. We ask for membership (which is free) but we want people to use the system. Having private GMRS repeaters is kinda dumb in my opinion.
I'm down there often and will give it a shot, but hopefully will convince me to enjoy that system contrary to what I said in this video

Does the talk pod A36 Plus have a priority Channel when monitoring channels A and B? If so how do you activate it?

Here in Arizona gmrs repeater 462.575 doesnt re broadcast the pl tone. If you want to see a bunch of grown men freak out just get on their repeater after using the travel tone or guessing the regular one and ask them what is the pl tone. They will freak the hell out. Its nutts

If they fixed up the issues like the horrendous spurs, I think it'd sell like hot cakes. I really cannot figure out how this radio is actually FCC certified.😕🤷♂️
