I really like Lezyne products. You can really feel the quality is there especially in the balance with weight savings, achieving a small form factor and ruggedness. They’re definitely not cheap but they’re also not needlessly expensive. A good value overall.
I'm still using the steel floor pump I bought in 2010. I use it several times a week. When the air pressure gauge went out a couple years ago they sent me a no cost repair kit.
What a delightful interview. I'm left with a lot of respect for Lezyne. They almost had me at garage because I love success stories with humble beginnings. Their products are smart, attractive, in many cases and I love that the pumps are all serviceable. That, to me, is a big deal. Kudos!
Marketing coup for Lezyne. And I say that with absolute respect. I was wowed by the lab as well. Not being in control of material quality and tolerances has sunk so many otherwise bright companies. Great interview Russ.
I was previously only really slightly aware of Lezyne, thinking they were just 'a brand'. But they're clearly a lot more than that and I'll certainly give them a proper look the next time I'm after some quality gubbins.
Lezyne has been a big part of our SLO bike scene. In fact, I have interacted with Nathan commuting to and from work or errands. They are a great group of riders, and it is wonderful to have them in our community. Thanks for visiting and doing this video, Russ and Laura!
Respect to Lezyne, been using their gear since like 2010. I still got a 10 year old seatbag of theirs on my road bike. Just picked up their new Pocket Drive HV a couple days before this video was uploaded and I'm very impressed. Finally a frame pump where the whole shebang fits in a jersey pocket and can easily pump up high volume rubber. Good stuff.
that gravel pump is our road bike pump, 6 drop bar bikes in our household and never pump a tire over 90 psi and that's just to set a bead. Its a great pump. Their full stainless multi tools are the only ones I will buy.
Bought a Lezyne pocket road pump about 12 years ago, and though it's sold as more of an emergency pump, it been my main pump for that whole time. I really enjoy their line of products, I use at least one everyday. No other light lasts 5-10 years. I value my Lezyne tire levers for extra tight tires, after I've already broken two Park levers. Haha.
In case the people at Lezyne are reading this. We need more bike lights with replaceable batteries. Not everybody cares about making everything as light as possible. I'd definitely take a little weight penalty for a bike headlight that can easily have the battery swapped similar to how we can swap batteries on power tools or camera equipment.
@RollinRat dynamo systems can't be easily swapped between bikes. Most of the good ones are built into the hub, so you can't have multiple wheelsets without buying multiple hubs. Dynamos make sense for a lot of people but are quite a bit more than most people are looking for.
Glad you stopped by Lezyne. I've been super impressed by their products for awhile. And as mentioned it's obvious they don't just slap a label on mass produced products but have their own product flavor.
Love my Lezyne pump. One of my bikes has both Schrader and Presta valves so I needed a pump I could carry that would easily fit both. The Lezyne fit the bill perfectly.
Cool, love Lezyne stuff. Lovely engineering. San Luis Obispo has special memories. In 1980 was working at friends bike shop in Oxford, England and travelled to California with my bike. Chatting to the owner of a bike shop in San Luis and he took me out back to show me,what looked like a large BMX with gears! Was an early prototype MTB. Went back home and we looked for importers of MTB’s into the UK...nobody had heard of Mountain Bikes then. We grew into one of the first Specialist MTB shops in the U.K. Whilst heading off at weekends illegally riding our new toys around North Wales and the UK. Changing our bikes every few months as new tech. became available. The MTB craze hit the UK big time through the 1980’s. By early 1990’s in my opinion the Magic was lost as it became ‘Corporate’ and Lycra replaced denims! Great times.!!
Love these informal type visits. Knew their stuff was high quality. Didn't know they are a US company making it themselves. Just in time for some shopping for lights for my bike...
Great video!! Really interesting. I recently bought a Lezyne pump after my cheap Amazon pump failed on me-I'm super happy with it. It's cool to see how much thought and care goes into their product designs.
I just brought a Lezyne Pocket Rocket pump yesterday and I love how it feels, CNC machined and just oozes quality and I love how small it sits next to my water bottle cage on the seat tube, hides behind the water bottle nicely. My mate has the larger model and loves his.
I have the Macro GPS and love it! Their support - mechanical & technical are both great. They regularly update software and it has opened new uses on my Macro!
Good video and great to see a U.S. company making quality items like this. I will definitely be looking for Lezyne products the next time I visit my bike shop.
Hearing the story of Lezyne certainly made it way more attractive in my eyes. Just thought they were another label brand. Will seriously look into their products when I’m in the market for something.
Great company, great products! I did not realize how many of their pumps (2 - one mini, one floor), lights (2, paired front and rear), multi-tools (2, one mini, one bigger) I have accumulated over the years until I watched the video and started counting them up. An "A" level brand for bike products comparable to Silca I think.
..you didnt complain about the screw on valve, that sometimes backs out the valve core. I love my lezyne mini, hella light, hella tiny, love the design
Thanks for sharing. I thought they were one of those companies that slaps a label on something. So nice to know they design everything and make it. I will be considering them more on my future purchases.
@Jon Poon we do have several tips about keeping your valve cores in place. The first is a bit obvious and we feel silly for saying it, but make sure your valve cores are tight in the first place. The second is to use the ABS button on the side of our hoses to bleed the back pressure out of the hose system. If you leave the pressure in the hose when you're trying to thread it off you'll have 30+ pounds of pressure working against you and binding the valve core to the hose. Another tip is to thread off the pump from the hose before you remove the hose from the valve. The pump usually gets in the way of the hose being straight and requires you to be bending the hose while unthreading, putting more unnecessary pressure on the valve core.
Very cool, I always figured it was a French company from the name. (Maybe if you take into account all the wineries between SLO and Santa Maria making Chardonnay, that could make it French adjacent ;P ) I have one of their mini floor pumps. Honestly the best "on the bike" pump I have used. I really appreciate that their pumps have flexible hoses instead of a hard attachment. It stinks to be fixing a flat tire in crummy weather, 10 miles from where you are going to camp, and accidently snap off the presta valve at the rim (yeah, I'm looking at you Zefal frame pump...) because of leverage, cold hands, and over-enthusiastic stroking.
I always assumed Lezyne was made in Germany or something. I bought a High Volume mini pump from them a long time ago and it's the best mini pump I own, fo sho.
Cool company and like how everything is done in-house. I wonder how their lights would be for single track night riding. NR lights are extremely optimistic on their run times. I think they test in some sort of electron bubble.
Can the Gravel pump be used on schrader valves? If not, can one of Lezyne’s schrader valve adapters be attached to the hose on the Gravel pump? Thanks!
My Pocket Drive HV has a tendency to take the valve cores with it if you’re not careful un-threading it from the valve stem. It works great otherwise as a trail side pump for supple tires! Quite fast for a mini pump to fill a 700x50.
If it has a bleed button like the Micro Floor drive, tap the bleed button before unthreading, it depressurizes the hose and makes it less likely to unthread.
@@sketchanderase It does have the bleeder! It’s not a terrible design by any means, I actually prefer that it threads on. Just something to be aware of if you’re in a hurry. It caught me off guard the first couple times I used the pump.

So naive
totally agree with Ray ^^
Marketing coup for Lezyne. And I say that with absolute respect. I was wowed by the lab as well. Not being in control of material quality and tolerances has sunk so many otherwise bright companies. Great interview Russ.
I love Lezyne gear. I will never go back to the junk equipment.
I was previously only really slightly aware of Lezyne, thinking they were just 'a brand'. But they're clearly a lot more than that and I'll certainly give them a proper look the next time I'm after some quality gubbins.

Never would have thought they were SLO based. Great interviews and walk through. Well done PLP!

Good to see this comment about the Pocket Drive HV since I need to replace my often failing Planet Bike mini pump.
Love my Lezyne lights, a pleasure to use

This video was a lot cooler than I thought it would be. Neat company!
Thanks for the video. I have a new appreciation for Lezyne and their products.
We've been using Lezyne pumps for years in the bike shop, truly great products!
AWESOME company. I love their products and service. Very dependable and reliable
I knew I liked Lezyne.....I have bunch of they're stuff, now I want more.
#1 to me in cycling related products they make. Had your pump for many years now!!!
Glad you stopped by Lezyne. I've been super impressed by their products for awhile. And as mentioned it's obvious they don't just slap a label on mass produced products but have their own product flavor.

Ahhh! Central Coast. My absolute favorite riding destination. Looking forward to a cycling video from you two, there next👍

My favorite everyday carry hand pump, one that I have has been in service for over 6 years! Great stuff
I’ve had good luck with Lezyne products, particularly their pumps.
I have those lights, I had no idea they could be synchronized! Thank you Mr Russ
Way cool!! Good work Russ and Lezyne
Love all there items and have a Lezyne Xl and some other items include the pump.Greatings from South Africa
Have always loved their products much respect on the servicable stuff as my current pump is off looks like I am gonna be getting a lezyne pump
Thank you for bringing us this create informative video!
Lezyne was over the top awesome when I was having GPS issues last year. They have a GPS customer for life.
TY for very interesting video! Might have to pick up a Pocket Drive High Volume pump to replace my existing often failing mini pump.
Great information! Thanks Russ!
I have the Macro GPS and love it! Their support - mechanical & technical are both great. They regularly update software and it has opened new uses on my Macro!
Great video from an awesome company!
Really cool vid and the people at lyzene are really pros!!
Great questions on this one, you kept it fresh and interesting... as always.
Good video and great to see a U.S. company making quality items like this. I will definitely be looking for Lezyne products the next time I visit my bike shop.
That Nathan guy sure is handsome for a bike dork.
Love their pump. Buy once, cry once.
Hearing the story of Lezyne certainly made it way more attractive in my eyes. Just thought they were another label brand. Will seriously look into their products when I’m in the market for something.
Thanks for this video, i had no idea they were an American company, making their products here. Makes a difference to me
Thank you for this!
I'm impressed with Lezyne - using microscopes and other cool gizmos! Great interview, too.
Great video.
you have a camera person now! :)
Great company, great products! Agree about backing out the valve core.
I already use a Lezyne pump but the chain pliers have so many features that it's going to be my next bike purchase.
Thanks for sharing. I thought they were one of those companies that slaps a label on something. So nice to know they design everything and make it. I will be considering them more on my future purchases.
I’ve always had trouble with their hand pumps ripping out valve cores. Have they improved that? Or do they have tips about that?
@Jon Poon we do have several tips about keeping your valve cores in place. The first is a bit obvious and we feel silly for saying it, but make sure your valve cores are tight in the first place. i like them
I like how you worry about the correct pronunciation and CZcamss auto subtitles make Lezyne into Lasagne 😂
Six bikes in our household. 4 Lezyne pumps.
Does the pump have the official Gravel Specific™ symbol, and if not, did you offer generous licensing fees?
Can't fool me, that's just Calvin Jones doing a different voice!
Cool company and like how everything is done in-house. I wonder how their lights would be for single track night riding. NR lights are extremely optimistic on their run times. I think they test in some sort of electron bubble.
Lezyne is in California? I always thought they were British, all the stores there carry their products!
Can the Gravel pump be used on schrader valves? If not, can one of Lezyne’s schrader valve adapters be attached to the hose on the Gravel pump? Thanks!

I love Lezyne lights, not a fan of the pumps, how many times have I unscrewed the valve core of an innertube, too many times.
Who is pumping their gravel tires up to 50, 60 psi?
