It is great to see that I am not the only one that is scared to wake people up early in the morning😂 Awesome video!
😂😂 clutch in and coast! Thank you!
Cracking trip by the looks of it. The scenery is special and the roads look extremely busy🤓. Looking forward to the rest of the trip. By the way, I have always thought fluent French is just English spoken very loudly. I am liking the duo audio. It gives context and banter 😁👍
Thanks bud! The best is definitely to come! You're right! Any language is just English spoken louder, and if they don't understand, you're not shouting loud enough 😂😂 (that was a joke for anyone reading this at a later date)
That looks like an incredible part of the world to be a biker, and combine that with all the stunning rural townhouses costing like twenty grand and a croissant it's a hell of a dream. There's a French properly site I furiously strum over on the regular because it has a tickbox for 'outbuildings' so I can find all the ones with lush workshops and barns for bike related activities.
Having a house down there would be incredible! Have a few bikes there on trickle charge and make the excuse to go down there because the bikes need a run 😂
You're damn right it is, mate, but Spain is even better and more bike friendly than France, and half the price. I know mate, coz I used to work for a French company, and moved to Spain in 96. The country's made for bikers.
I guess I'll have to buy a house in Spain too when I win the lottery haha
@@eddyhoughton6542 I've been eyeing a move to Spain for a while actually yeah, the pace of life and low costs really appeal to me, and the climate of course.
That was brilliant sam the roads are fantastic in France, i don get when people say France is boring i find they have some of the best roads, but that's fine it gives me the roads to my self. Stay safe. 🙏
Thank you mate! I was one of those people before as I'd only ever driven or ridden through Northern France to get into Germany but I did not know it had those secrets! Even more amazing views to come too!
A really very entertaining vlog you two are so funny can't wait for part 2😅
Haha thank you!
Love these bike trip Vblogs, will be along for the ride here! Cheers fella!
They are great to make too! Just need more funds to do more of them haha
What a great trip so far and nicely put together. It looks like rural France hasn't changed since i was there 30 odd years ago, what a great place to be.
Definitely took me by surprise! This is an opener for the trip and it just gets a whole load better! The next few episodes are great in my opinion haha
@@SamVBikes looking forward to them mate, it looks an amazing trip. The bonus this week is that you haven't reviewed something that I didn't know I needed! ,😂🤔
😂😂 yeah very true! Well you've got 5 weeks of not having to spend money of things you don't need! Then I'll have to drop a hint of a nice whisky or something haha
@@SamVBikes 😂😂 last week's gadget was a really good one though! My tech shopping list is a cardo, blind spot alert and discreet front and rear cameras so far 😂😂😂
Yes that things great! Innovv have a new version with small red lights to fit on the mirrors which I'm tempted to get myself!
Sounds like you'll need that discount code 😂
I'm surprised in equal parts by how beautiful rural France is in that cracking sunshine, as I am by both of your woeful French 😂😂
I vividly remember you sending me that message that said "Sam... your French is impeccable and I wish I was as good at picking up languages as you are". I think you deleted that message from fear that it would come to light, but I'll teach you some day 😂
@@SamVBikes😂😂😂😂 was that the same part of your memory that recalls fixing your baffle securely in place? 😂 If so, that's fair enough!
Bingo! Although I can't believe how badly Arrow make their exhausts... it only took us to stop in a service station, get out a set of Allen keys, some needle nose pliers and get a few burnt fingers for it to just fall out. Shocking
amazing video quality brother!
Thank you!!
Another good one Sam, love the banter and the scenery, thanks for the patrion mention 🤘🏻
Thank you bud! Yeah it's stunning isn't it! Thank you for joining the Patreon!
@@SamVBikes your welcome, mind put in Moto Tripper UK lol just missed the UK part out buddy, might be my OCD kicking in 😂🤣 till next time, stay safe 👍🏻
Ahh yes! I'll get it swapped for the next one! Cheers bud!
That Africa Twin sounds immense 😂
It's really annoying for me 😂😂
Hahaha yea it does 😊😊 even with baffle in on these videos 😊😊
Love this series. I'm about to purchase ktm super adventure❤
Nice!! What colour are you going for?
It's an original 2017 model mint fully equipped in orange and white with crash bars/luggage, my tracer 900gt is going but go with your heart eh?
Nice! Will be great to hear what you think when you get it!
I nod at “L” platers. The up and coming bikers! Snob!😏😂😂
😂😂😂
Got a CB125r and it makes my day when people nod at me with my L plates. It's clear that some people don't view me in "the gang" though 😂
Haha I always do nod at anyone on a bike! That was a joke in the vid!
I can't care about waking people up... they hear me breath. 😂 or so it seems.
Had to laugh at the puking I was wondering WTF. 😂 guess you couldn't cope with the baffle left in still.
Great footage and beautiful.
😂😂 yeah very true!
The baffle didn't even last for the motorway trip down haha! I couldn't do it!
Thank you for watching!!
@SamVBikes my current bike is stock and I cry in every tunnel... 😭
Ahhh can't be having that! That stock time is such a tease 😂
@@SamVBikes 🤣 yeah.. I need a loud pipe go fund me page. 🤣
Oh don't worry... I often contemplate a certain fans related page to pay for My addiction to buying shiny stuff 😂😂
The advantage of having an Adventure bike is that Google Maps continually screws up and sends you down "roads" that on a road bike are totally impracticable. Which is also where the 890 has it over the 1290 😜
Haha yeah I am tempted to swap to the 890 at points but the 1290 handles itself very well off road!
@SamVBikes You got to be with the one you love, mate! Google Maps is way out to lunch though. The other day it sent me down this dirt track that was so bleeding technical I'd have thought twice about tackling it on my mountain bike! Proper shit myself! The 890 managed it though, I reckon it's about picking a point in the near distance and aiming for it, and trusting the bike to do what it's built for.
Haha yeah it definitely goes down paths that might have been roads in the 1800s 😂.
That's a lot of it yeah! Trusting the bike to do what it's designed to do. Most of these bikes are far more capable that our skills!
"You take photos like an old man" 😂 Is that even a thing? 😂
😂😂 Yes! It's a stance you adopt over the age of 50... lean back, phone out in front of you, held with two hands, and look down your nose like you're looking over the top of your reading glasses... bonus points if you have a flip case on your phone and still manage to get a finger in shot!
😂Im going to stop doing that, and the flip case is going in the bin. @@SamVBikes
You'll take that case off.. and suddenly feel 20 years younger 😂
I have a 2023 SAS and I'm curious which tires you liked on yours? I got 4500 miles out of the roadtec 01 SE and they've been really good but looking for something that can get more miles out of
If you're looking for more miles, the only set I've managed to get more out of were the Michelin Road 6. I got around 6-7k out of a rear. Most tyres I get around 4k. Currently running the Anakee Adventures, but that rear will be done soon haha
I nod to all regardless of what their riding, and I don't always get a reply 😂. My god, it looks good where you we're staying. 🌞🏍👌
Haha good on you! It was stunning!!
Got to throw a question at you mate. I see the lids you and your mates wear are these sort of "adventure" helmets with a peak. How aerodynamic are they, and how noisy? Reason I ask is because I use a Nolan flip-up touring lid and it's neither aerodynamic nor quiet. Because it's hot as Hell here in the summer, I generally ride with the outer visor up and the inner sun-visor down. I'm tempted to swap it out for a helmet that a) goes with the bike and b) that is a bit lighter and more comfortable. What do you reckon?
Good question!
They aren't particularly aerodynamic, so if you're looking for that you'd be better going for a road style helmet. Wouldn't bother with the race ones because they are designed to be aero when you're laying on the tank. I don't get any wind off the peak but it can 'hum' in strong side winds.
There are a few reasons I wear a peaked helmet.
I LOVE the huge visor aperture - such a great field of vision that you don't get with a lot of helmets. You also get the bigger area around your mouth/chin which makes for a cooler face in general allowing for more air in and out. Quite good if you ever feel claustrophobic in a helmet too
The peak is great for keeping the sun out of your eyes during the day, and equally helps with rain when you're slow moving. And lastly, it helps deflect stuff when you're riding off road with people (if you do). Works as a mini shield if you drop your head quickly!
If you want a quiet helmet, the more premium ones have more padding and sound deadening which does definitely help. My other half couldn't believe how quiet her new Shoei is compared to her old Spada helmet. Don't just go for the lightest of them all though as normally the sound deadening can be hampered to get that magic low weight. Klim do carbon fibre lids which are meant to be great, but not cheap!
I find the best thing for the sound deadening is getting yourself out the wind, and ear plugs. I have the clip-on visor on my screen so I can easily ride along with the visor open without issue.
Hope that helps!
@SamVBikes Most definitely it does, mate. Thanks for that. I've been riding over 30 years but there were things you wrote that I never thought of. Especially the weight / sound deadening issue. This morning I was cursing not having a peak. I went to do the "Great Wall of China of Corralejo" a sort of dirt-track route North East of Madrid. I had to do about 100 Km to get there with the sun totally in my eyes. Not a pleasant experience. To top it all, once I arrived, a vicious side-wind sprung up out of nowhere so I knocked it on the head and went back home via the back roads. No harm done though, I found some amazing lanes (also with really bad tarmac) that were perfect for the KTM.
No problem at all! Ahh thats a shame but at least you got out for a good ride! Never a ride wasted when you enjoy it!
Is your wheelie control completely off, or do leave it on a little? Asking cuz I'm waiting for the wheelie incident video
😂😂 touch wood, no incidents yet. Just rally mode and TC below 4 or 5, and it comes up easily
