  • The Revolutionary War was never a simple story of Patriot vs Redcoat. Older nations with far deeper American roots were also caught up in the war. To secure their future, the nations of the Iroquois Confederacy had to choose a side - and in many ways, their long term fate was decided on the day of the Battle of Newtown. www.battlefiel...

Easy in hindsight but the Iroquois would have been much better sticking together in neutrality. Let the British pick out their own chestnuts from the fire. The decision for two of the Nations to decide to support the Americans and the rest to support the Crown was the downfall of the Confederacy. It was their fate but who knows? If they could've stood in unity they may still own (what we now call) most of New York State.

It's hard for me to take you seriously when you can't even pronounce the word Iroquois.

The battle of Newton was the beginning of a genocide campaign against the Iroquois. The American settlers always encroached on land they were not supposed to and treated the Indians with little to no regard.

      It wasn't a genocide, genius.

@@zcoosa1648 Hit the books wise guy. The removal, and utter destruction of the American Indian was nothing but a slow genocide. Tell me then, genius, what were Washington's exact orders if you know? The campaign ordered by Washington was one of the darkest campaigns against eastern Indians at the time. Not genocide? Tell that to the one's who were being decimated each step of the way. Genius.
