    This guy and his crew are the real deal. It was really great to compare his videos and the Apple drains videos to see the difference in knowledge and skill. Something simple as 1.5” cobblestone instead of 3/4” gravel makes such a difference. Hoping I can get delivery of the high octane before my backfill date 🤣

    I laughed so much when you were describing an old drug addict building drains with Styrofoam... I knew straight away who you meant. Funny thing is I stumbled across this channel after watching that one. You guys definitely put the extra work in and at the end of the day thats what stops you having to go back to clean the system etc. Learnt a lot from this channel, big love from UK 🇬🇧

    We have clay in Oregon. In my case, we have very gushy, wet ground most of the time. Much of the ground around the house slopes back into the house (crawl space beneath). Your videos are really helping to educate me in what needs to be done.

    Love your videos. You explain so many things in such great detail. I appreciate the fact you recognize the importance of your employees. The attention you give to all of the small details from A to Z is evident in your finished projects. I notice on many of your jobs that you "core" into an existing storm drain. How do you terminate a french drain on a property where no storm drain or ditch is available? In my neighborhood, the nearest storm drain is down the street several properties away. There is good "fall" between the front of my house and the sidewalk. Would I terminate the slotted pipe into a pop up emitter or 6" basin by the sidewalk? The termination of the french drain is my biggest point of confusion. Thanks for all of the information. Keep up the great work.

      Has French Drain Man ripped into Sean of Gate City yet? I ask because they are not a fan of corrugated pipe, not a fan of fabric, only using (expensive) 4” Schedule 40 PVC for everything, and he’s not reselling product either. Gate City makes FDM and Apple look kinda similar coz’ he’s so different. I unsubscribed from Apple because of the flimsy systems but later resubscribed because I appreciate his educational/experimental content. The only guy to show in a practical demo, how traditional terracotta pipe systems worked.

    Q: FDM mentions several times, "we punched or double punched our geotextile" what does he mean exactly?
    I get that it is perforated but is FDM punching the fabric?
    Or is this simply an option to specify when you purchase the geo-textile?

    • @shanewhite499
      @shanewhite499 Před 3 lety

      No the company he orders it from double punches the fabric. It's usually only punched once and he requested that they punch it twice for him to allow for more water flow and also so that the grass can grow in it easier.

    FDM, first off, hats off and thank you for all your knowledge sharing!! Quick question for you: I've got a relatively short 12 foot trench I dug out for a French Drain system. Before I put down the geotextile non-woven fabric, I've got all these leftover rectangular concrete pavers lying around. Whaddya think about lining the bare dirt with some of these pavers at the bottom of the trench to level out any humps including the sides of the trench, kinda like a mini poor man's ditch, and then begin the "burrito wrap" on top of that?

    • @gmrick1412
      @gmrick1412 Před 4 lety +1

      The concrete will be an obstacle to the water under the concrete trying to reach your pipe. By some unknown amount the concrete will reduce the amount of water entering your perforated pipe.

    • @xuser9980
      @xuser9980 Před 4 lety +2

      @@gmrick1412 Appreciate the feedback. Since I posted the comment a few months ago, that project has been complete for some time now. I ended up using the pavers to line the ditch and placed the burrito wrap inside with 1" river rock. We've had a few heavy rains since and there isn't a flooding issue anymore. I'll update this comment if there are issues down the line but for the most part, the solution seems to be working.

I mean really - accusing him of drug and alcohol problems, and trying to swindle customers is a far cry from debating who’s system will be more efficient and stand the test of time. Disappointed a professional like yourself had to talk about another provider of CZcams video content for 8-10 years and boil that effort down to him being a hack.
