Dude, thank you so much. You have no idea how valuable this info is to me. I'm doing a 3SGTE st205 swap soon on a 2003 Toyota Matrix. Going to be AWD though since I'm getting it from a Celica GT4. BTW you earned a sub for this.

Hell yeah man sweet celica! I made 320whp and 395nm (On pump) with my stock 3rd gen with bolt ons and have now pulled the motor back out. Since then the bottom end has been Fully forged and upgraded the head with GSC S2 274 cams, titanium retainers and valve springs. Ported front and rear ct20b with 3071 internals. Also have an ATS top feed rail and 1200cc injectors with a walbro 400 and everything needed for a flex tune. Running an LSD S54 box, just shooting for 400-450whp and leaving it there. I also have a jzz30 Soarer (1JZGTE) and genuine ST205 GT4 I have big plans for.

I appreciate the info it is really helpful, I plan to do something similar. Yet it is my first build but I am a bit overwhelmed with how much I have to do to get my car where I would like it. I plan on putting the 3sgte head on the 5sfe and have a combo upgrade with the internals (Forged 5sfe pistons and 3sgte rods). As well as making it 4 wheel drive there are a lot of questions I still have onto how to tackle all of these steps. I have done tons of research and know what I have to do to get it running but I have questions about making a front wheel car into 4 wheel. If you have any recommendations on building 5sgte or any modifications I would need to make to the rear to make it 4 wheel drive I would appreciate it. (1998 toyota celica gt with 5sfe)

I saw one done but it requires a gt4 rear end and a lot of fabrication to turn the engine in the bay. It is easier and cheaper to find a RWD car instead. That is why I bought a SC300.

I have never built a 3sgte. I wouldn’t be a lot of help. Do some searches online. There are some good forged pistols and rod combos out there for the 3sgte just make sure it keeps the compression ratio where you want it.

If you are sticking with the Celica transmission, then use a 3sgte pressure plate with a 5sfe clutch disk. There are many options out there. Also, if you buy a kit that has everything, do not use the throw out bearing, get a OEM one. The ones it the kits are not very good and tend to go bad really fast.

It should work with your stock clutch disc then. The key is that the flywheel and pressure plate must match the engine and the clutch disc must match the transmission. If you are going 3sgte, make sure your clutch setup is rated to withstand the torque.
