I tried it... mind-boggling...
yeah lots of clicking for me I would just get an image of a torn piece of paper and behind that layer put a person rub out the middle of the rip with the rubber tool and make the paper more transparent then do that thing with the colour replace tool so that the paper is black and white and the person behind it is not, sorry I just find that more easy than all of the clicking and stuff XD

lori v No smart filters in PSE. If you use file>place the object you put in becomes a smart object (well, a semi-smart object in PSE).

You don't need to click on the turn paper layer, you need to click on the upper layer - then ctrl-click the turn paper icon to get the selection.
Does any Photoshop "Artist" make anything of their own?
Please elaborate. Are you referring to analog (actual, physical mediums) vs. digital? Photoshop is essentially a powerful tool to create art digitally. I say this as a retired professional art director, graphic artist and illustrator who started my artistic journey in the pre-digital world of the late 1960s. I still create my own artworks, but digitally now since it provides me much more freedom to explore creative possibilities much faster and is much more forgiving than working with traditional mediums. bluelightningtv.wixsite.com/bltv

The torn paper image is 1112 px wide, 758 pixels in height and 150 ppi. Reduce the size of your photo to fit the torn paper file.
well the good thing is that i learned how to do it ... the bad thing is that i'm ugly and the result can't even hide how ugly i am :P ... Thanks photoshop XD
