The story goes that when Nas heard J.Cole’s radio single, “Work Out,” he was apparently disappointed in Cole for abandoning lyricism. Now, No I.D. was in the same room when Nas expressed his discontent, and later I.D told Cole over the phone about Nas' opinion of his song. Cole, having stated his extreme love for Nas on multiple occasions, took this to heart, and released Let Nas Down. Nas later responded with a remix of Let Nas Down, Made Nas Proud - Zábava
Nas response sent chills. Rare for modern rappers to do that. Cole, Nas, Black Thought, and Kendrick are very special MCEES
nas ain’t modern.. he old school
Damn I for real got chills too just now

bro nas is a 90s rapper, he peaked with illmatic in 94, before all eyez on me and ready to die. how tf is he a modern rapper 💀💀
Respect for putting Black Thought though, not nearly enough people know about him

That wasn’t real for Nas to hate tho
"Idols never be your rivals" 🎲
..
@@ThaHulkster it's not hate just because he didn't like his song smh so I guess everyone a hater then based on your so-called logic 😂 of course no one likes every single song from someone
@@jameelisaac7122 it is tho cuz if you don’t have nothin nice to say about someone you respect you tell them face to face. Nas had to be in his 40s addressing a 20-something year old and instead of being a mentor off the bat he criticized him in public instead of face to face. What’s real about that? Until he basically had to have his perspective shifted by Cole, he was dismissive of someone who looked up to him, not realizing who he is and the position he holds in the game and the weight his words hold. If the young bull has to check you just to get his respect, then you was flimsy from the start.
This was a beautiful moment in hip hop
Indeed
More like terrible moment where a jealous mentor that ain’t made one hit song in his career tries to put down a talented young artist

I felt that one 😮
Reminded me of Adesanya and Silva
Drake did the opposite with kanye
@@mnc29MGK also did the same with Eminem.
If Cole was a spiteful dude, he coulda easily made a diss to him, but he took that constructive criticism and made a song about letting his idol down which is so humbling on his end. What a class act....And nas responded respectfully as well. Love this shit bro. J Cole really a different breed. Respect to him for not getting butt hurt. A lot of other rappers woulda been disrespectful af.
I think that Cole's humility when telling a story is what endears him to fans. He used to do that more than Kendrick and that was the distinguishing factor between him and Kendrick. However, I can see Kendrick growing up into that role of humility in Mr Morale and the Big Steppers.
It is very difficult for comparisons between those 2 artists. The wisest and most respectful thing to do is to enjoy them both as they release their art.
You diss Nas your career is over! Jayz barely survived dissing Nas.
Nas is not that kind of dude. He let BIG and Jay diss him for years before he responded to Jay.

nothing wrong with rappers wearing chains and jewelry... it's been a thing since the beginning. even nas who cole idolizes. Just bc cole dresses like a hobo now doesn't mean everyone should. Rap has always been flashy and braggadocios first and foremost, and I personally love that energy about it

Bro for real...I haven't really listened to rap at all since like 2016-2017 ish. I just cannot fuck with the mumble rap or the super auto tuned, barely audible, shitty cadence rap that everyone plays at parties and acts like its fire smh. Hopefully ScHoolboy Q's banger album sets the industry back in the right direction
Why would that make you cry. That’s very weird.
It felt so good that my favorite rapper of our generation made a song about my favorite rapper of all time Nas, what an experience
Let nas Down twice now with that "Grippy" feature SMH
Nas bout to make a track called "alright, this time you let nas down" lmao
Cole is never going to live down Grippy and it couldn’t be anymore hilarious- 😂😂😂
Yeah he let everyone down with that song
I don't think he cares about one trash feature as much as the average rap fan
"Long live ya idols. May they never be ya rivals" 🔥💯
When i first heard this song but with the remix ft nas and really listened to it around 2013-2014 i genuinely cried. Has to be one of my favorite songs of all time.
Why would that make you cry.
That remix hit me deep even I cried

The beat for Workout was so fresh and catchy when it came out during that time. I remember 1st hearing it on the radio and was just in awe
Daaaaamn that struck a cord in me for some reason. Probably cause these are 2 of the best artists in my opinion.
One of the coldest moments in Hip-Hop. Hands down…
With this generation still showing da utmost respect to the best to ever do it let's u know Nas will forever be unequally Timeless
This is the thing that changed J Cole forever....
Y’all really think he didn’t given the recent events ? 😂
This is why Nas is KING👑
Cole was the only young rapper to make a song saying he let his idol down instead of dissing him. He really is a different breed cause any other rapper would've dissed Nas or whoever was their idol.
Now you let yourself down
I actually loved “work out” and “can’t get enough” w/ Trey Songz. Being from Memphis they use to spin those nonstop on radio in 2011/ 2012
Not many would have took that response as a positive ❤ Cole is the goat 🐐 for taking that response and make a song that respect Nas all the more

After this experience I garuntee you Cole stopped caring what his idols thought. Fuck em
When you respect someone, then you'll respect their opinion even if you might disagree with it. You'll stop and try to see what they mean. I think this really changed Cole cuz he snapped out of the single-selling mentality he was beginning to develop at that time
