I was there, wacken 2018, I had never even heard of this band, it was a friend of mine who worked for Metal Hammer who told me about it and took me to see the band (I still thank her today) and the show was as if I had been run over by a train (me and a lot of people in the audience, we didn't know anything about the band). Since 2018 this has been my band, once wolfpack, always wolfpack

Miho's dream was to appear at Wacken (like her idol Steve Harris) and it happened rather quickly after Miho put the group together!!!! Our friend was there and everyone wanted to see what the J/Metal models were all about. The stage area flooded quickly once they started and the hard-core metalheads were blown away by these insanely talented musicians. The real hit that day and the talk of the crowd was Haruna and how the "beast" drove this band and this set from start to finish. Miyako was there with Midori and the ice water in their veins made the duo even more impressive before this group. Next trip to Wacken will be to the Main Stage and the 82K metalheads hopefully get to see the best metal band performing LIVE today!!!!
Miho‘s dream came true already 2 years after founding LOVEBITES. Wacken was on her bucket list.

Lovebites Shadowmaker, one of my favorites. Then again, I have so many favorites. If popularity was based on the talent of the band, Lovebites would be the most popular band in the world.
The first and only Japanese all-female band to perform at Wacken!...They are the Queens of Metal!
LOVEBITES should get some new fans this year playing at a few festivals.

Yes, their presentation at Wacken Open Air, Germany, 2018, just two years after the formation of the band, was a real success and a dream come true for Miho. I have this DVD (as far as I know, there’s no Blue-ray). The duration is only about 30 minutes.
The word is relentless. They start and don't stop!
I don't claim to be a fan right from the start of Lovebites career as I had not heard of them. As soon as I watched this Wacken Open Air gig, I became enchanted.
A metal band that is fun? What is that? I grew up with bad attitude from four or five sweaty guys who couldn't care less about their fans if they made it to the larger venues and festivals. To see quality metal songs written, arranged and performed by five demure women all beautifully dressed, compared to the usual rock chic, street walker look, just blew me away and the Lovebites ladies have done, ever since.

On that day itself back in 2018, a lot of people in the crowd at Wacken commented that the best performance and the best music came from Lovebites. This clip is from a watch party LIVE streamed to an international audience during the premier of their latest LP "Judgement Day" when the ladies engaged with their fans LIVE online.

In one of the first interviews after the formation of LOVEBITES, Miho (bass, backing vocals, band leader) said that her dream was to perform with her new band at Wacken Open Air. Two years later, LOVEBITES performed at the Wacken Open Air. They became the first all-female metal band from Japan to perform at WOA in all the years of the festival's existence (since 1990).

Perfection. That's what Lovebites is. We sit here today and say how awesome the album Judgement Day is, how awesome Fami is, and some use the term "leveled up". And here they are, 6 years ago, already perfect. How can you be better than perfect? I guess Lovebites is now perfect+ ?

If you ever get a chance, watch the video of the whole set. You will see the audience starting off puzzled ("Who is this? What is this?") to being completely won over by the end of the set.

They had expected the audience to be only a few hundred people, they said, since the stage at WACKEN was in the late afternoon on the last day of the show and they themselves were newcomers in the second year of their debut.
When the doors finally opened, they later said they were quite surprised to find an audience of over 10,000 people.

"See you again soon, thank you so much. Byebyeeee". So cute. One thing what I like in this band is the complete missing of evilness. They just lift you with the lyrics and beautiful melodies, and still their music kicks ass. After listening many years to "evil" metal (Death, Black), it started to get tiring and didn't feel good anymore. Nowadays, the only more extreme metal band I listen to is the funeral doom band Evoken, and I also really like the two latest Shape Of Despair albums, it's just a bit too sad, when you already are sad most of the time. But some Cannibal corpse, Deicide or early Mayhem and other emotionless metal, I just can't listen to those at all anymore.
They definitely go in a different direction than much modern metal, and especially the more extreme sub-genres. Beautiful women, who are elite musicians playing the classic metal sound of the 80s and early 90s that I love, including thrash, all with clean vocals. For me, this is the best band in the world.

Midori's solo got a little bit messed up at one point, but it's no wonder, for the first time in Europe and in Wacken, a completely new and surely demanding metal audience. I guess it made them a little nervous. Awesome band, I've been hooked for 6 months now. Ja suomalainen minäkin.
