Every time you update it turns 3dnr off and the other settings to basic. So make sure you check your settings after the update. It's a little annoying a weird the default is like that. But change it once per update and your good.
Never had an issue of smearing with my Walksnail systems. Ppl should just fly what they like and enjoy it tbh. 😉 (a lot of bad image quality also comes from YT compression)
A really good picture you have there. Very flyable and really good detail. I don't know how you can say there is no smearing though. The grass has loads of smearing. Not enough to be any kind of issue but to the eyes of an HDZero user it looks bad. Probably like the HDZero sparkles I hardly ever notice look bad to DJI/Walksnail users.
On my home wifi and setting the video to 4k I don't see any smearing 🤷 can see the grass great. Especially in the goggles. But everyone sees things differently like you said it's a perspective. As long as we are all flying and having fun.
@@xORLOCKxGood to know. It's probably CZcams compression I'm seeing then. I know HDZero footage from DVR or on CZcams always looks so much worse than in the goggles. I guess recompressing compressed video is less than ideal. Thanks for the reply.

Great to hear, I am about to take the leap. Any comments on the reliability ?? I will be flying on 5 inch 6s. I do not think they will be quite as robust as DJI with years and years of experience in digital FPV. They also have years and years of experience screwing their users as well, no thanks. Would I be correct in expecting good reliability as they have matured a bit, and are there still lingering issues that have not been resolved. The new camera is out of control great at night, I mean scary good, can not wait. Just want to jump in at tyhe best time. Hoping that is now.
I will say Caddx quality control needs work. One of the weak points is UFL connections. So just be mindful of that. So far out of 10 VTXs I am the reason one died. Use a good BEC if you fly 6s. 4s you can run VBAT. On my 5 inch quads I run VBAT with no issues.(I fly 4s) But 6s can fry their VTXs withour a good cap and BEC. So protect them and your good. Go the extra mile on your builds. Your ESC and tune will tank you too. I personally like the V2 HD vtx, the 8 gig version with no gyro data and a single antenna. They are cheaper and the standard HD cam NOT the pro is way faster and better for freestyle. The lens are super cheap to replace as well. Cables can be kind of hit or miss. So stock extra cables and lens. Which are both super cheap. I use a single rush cherry stubby on my freestyle quads. Also on the goggles get quality antennas. Makes all the difference. Stock ones suck. They sucked when caddx made them for DJI vistas and they suck now. Lol. It's reliable for me if you build clean and are mindful of the UFL being weak. Fonts are super easy to customize, they are light weight. And pretty damn tough for what they are. Tougher than an 03 but not as tough as a vista. But tough enough to not be an issue

nice. I do hear a lot of people complain but honestly love walksnail. just picked up another moonlight camera and also having really good experiences with my first moonlight build. I have it in a speedybee mario DC frame and love flying that thing.
My analog also looks amazing less that 100 ft away from myself as well, any system will look amazing in your front yard, and just for clarification i own all the systems so im not just picking on WS
Well this isn't a signal or range test. This is to show there isn't smearing. The claims online are that walksnail looks mushy and has smearing all of the time. Obviously I can fly far enough to induce a bad picture. Can do that with any system.
@fearlessflyersfpv420 this is not a range test. Nor is it a comparison to DJIs range. This is in response to claims the system is broken and always smears and looks mushy. No offense. But I never made that point. This video is NOT a range test.
I see lots of smearing on the grass, which I believe is what most people are complaining about. Walksnail seems to be much more aggressive on the compression than DJI.
I get stutters sometimes when doing quick rolls that don’t appear to be a signal issue. The latest firmware has helped reduce this but has not completely eliminated it. Using 720p though does appear to eliminate the issue for me. Focus mode does not look anywhere as good as it does on DJI. I prefer to keep it turned off on Walksnail but on for DJI.
Focus mode has had a lot of issues. I always keep it off myself. If you are getting stutters in rolls it could be voltage or even a loose UFL on the VTX. The UFL connector on walksnail VTXs is a weak point unfortunately.
My wife got me the Goggle x for fathers day. I ordered Meteor 75 pro should be Monday. Do you suggest those setting after i do the updates or just see what happens and then decide? Yeah those settings would work pretty good om the X with micros. But don't be afraid to experiment and try different settings. Maybe even try out race mode. Haha and I appreciate your future sub and totally understand 🤣

I could see blades of grass clearly,that phone line I could definitely see it better than with my Vista,I fly a 3.5 around my neighborhood and specifically use a power line for power loops and split s and I can see it in my goggles but sometimes I gotta look for it or be close. I think it looks great. I really want that guy to see this video and explain. In his video it looks like trash. Why not change the settings? I think I'm going to still keep my DJI quads but look forward to building with walksnail in the future,it just sucks having to invest in New goggles,I just got my goggles 2 like a year ago. Yes, there firmware updates made massive improvements last year, which is why i got Walksnail, I personally feel Walksnail is the second best system, analog is still first for me being very latency sensitive, dji shit the bed by not having a lighter 1s board, but im glad cuz i wouldn't buy dji anyhoo. I started with a vtx on my hdo2, but just got the fat shark Walksnail Google, but they hurt my face, I've tried a bunch of face pads, but I'm about to send these back cuz i just cant wear them
@paulnguyen6120 correct. I'm not comparing to 03 at all. I expect people to reply like this. If you watch the video at 4k on CZcams there isn't any smearing. So I'll let the video speak for itself. Deff appreciate the comment though. Because I wasn't comparing. 03 is great for what it is. I use it on a landscape surfing quad I have and it's great. But for all my other stuff I use WS. This video is simply to show the smearing isn't what people claim it is. 🤷

The problem is much greater if there is a lot of green grass. Just test it in that environment you will see what i mean. In Urban environment its much better and you will not see it.

One in particular snapped at me when I pointed out adjusting settings makes a difference. Told me that it's still broken if it doesn't work right out of the box. That settings won't fix it... when clearly that isn't the case. Oh well. Hopefully others will try it out.

If these settings or walknsail doesn't work for you that's cool too. Just trying to help people out and squash this silly idea that walksnail is broken. Smearing can be dealt with. It works for a lot of people. I've got videos of flying in big open fields, baseball fields. Bandos. I've flown it all. For 4 years now I've been flying all type of VTXs. I've flown them all. I'm not gonna argue or tell you that your opinion is wrong. It's just not my experience or any of the pilots I've been friends with experience since the newer firmwares. Unless your signal is getting jacked up. There isn't any smearing for me or many other people I'm also near the ground and you can see the grass plane as day in this video. I'm so close to the ground I almost crash. No smearing 🤷
That was through the goggles. So it reckless what it receives from the signal. You can add the OSD later if you want it. I didn't disable it. I just didn't add the file during editing. There is a program that allows you to overlay the OSD. I just didn't do that since it wasn't needed.

Do you know how it could be different in CE instead of FCC? I don't have access to high bitrate channels on CE, and I notice smearing just by going behind some trees 20 meters away. I do have to play around more with the settings I guess, but when I set framerate lower, I get around 40ms of latency instead of the usual 26. Other than that, when in line of sight it works amazing and it's super clear. Also are you using stock antennae on the goggles X?
Sounds like you could be seeing it due to weak signal. If you are able and can use the FCC hack I would. I use true RC antennas. Low bitrate high frame rate should yield the same results. From what I've found the 3dnr and sharpness are what cause the issue. Trying 3dnr in low or off or mid and see how it changes things. If that doesn't work it could just be a signal issue. Trees block signal really bad and can cause it to break up. Even close by sometimes. Humidity can even degrade signal.
Walksnail has more stable latency than DJI. It feels way more connected to the quad. DJI will sacrifice latency for picture quality. So DJI can feel spongy and "off" where as walksnail will stay pretty locked in. Makes a huge difference and was a big part of why I switched to WS as my daily
I feel personally attacked. Haha Jk. However, the problem doesn’t happen with everyone. It seems to be an intermittent problem with VTX. And you have to win the walksnail silicon lottery to have a good experience.
OP, you’re also using four patches, and the V1 walk snail goggles. The goggles X definitely has some problems with signal quality.. There are many users who who have reported this and many users who have had many different problems with them, including smearing.. I’m not trying to be a but hole about it I want walk snail to work. I would love to switch from DJI. I think you’re not into many different environments that are running into and doesn’t answer that walksnail is worth using yet. However, I am really happy that it’s working for you !!
@DanoFPV I've seen issues with the Goggle X, so I understand that can contribute to signal issues. Which is going to cause problems with any system. But I've flown every single type of terrain you can think of. Concrete bandos, beaches, forests and mountains, ball parks, rivers. No smearing for me. Which the point I was making in this video is that it's not the system. Any time it shows up.. it's usually because of antenna or signal. Which is going to be an issue with analog, dji, hdz and walksnail. To say walksnail is broken or not ready for having the same problems all systems have when they get low on signal. Isn't fair IMO. And yes I am using 4 X air antennas on the V1 goggles. Do people not upgrade antennas on DJI or HDZ or Analog?

But if you look at what they have provided.. more options than DJI, better quality than a vista ever was. They also care enough to adjust upcoming products to what the community wants. To write them off or say they aren't good enough because you gotta upgrade your antennas? Come on now.. walksnail is a solid option. I've never said they are better than DJI technology wise. But if you love all of FPV, they are a better choice. Everyone wants an 03 clone.. walksnail isn't that and isn't trying to be. Look at what they are.. I run the V2s, 1s vtx, and one V3. All have been great. Have had many of all of them. Guess I just get lucky all the time.. or maybe they aren't as bad as the people shouting about it online are saying they are. 🤷
Thanks!!! Those are the webleedFPV 0702 28000kv. They make some even higher in KV but 28000kv was more than enough for me. They are super smooth motors. Probably going to run them on all my whoops now. I was impressed.

@@xORLOCKx If I could be bothered to upload a comparison video I'd show you. I'm not even comparing to 03. I'm comparing vista and W.S. W.S struggles flying low and close to the ground with really poor compression and mush. I think you edited your comment to say the 03 better be better due to the cost. Not sure about the states but here in the UK there isn't a big difference between the moonlight and 03. Maybe £15 or so. The only reason I keep W.S is because the custom OSD and the goggles are slightly more comfortable than the crap fit DJI goggles. Haven't tried goggles 3 yet but if the fit is better and 03 air unit support is solid I'll be dumping all of my w.s transmitters and goggles. I have as many criticisms of DJI as I do of Caddx but as I only flew my Caddx Whoop about twice there isn't any real benefits of keeping 2 systems. If HDZero could get there shit together I'd drop both in a heartbeat.

Dji has a working focus mode and better range tbh so even if u go further awqy u still gonna see stuff

Did you make sure you watched it in 4k? Because you can see the blades of grass in the video.

I see smearing in you footage if you look at the grass. Thats not happening with DJI O3 anymore but it happens on walksnail

@shambler01 I have, I fly walksnail every time I go out. Sorry man I'm not seeing smearing until I'm out of signal. It's cool we don't have to agree. I know what I see with my won eyes. If these settings or walknsail doesn't work for you that's cool too. Just trying to help people out and squash this silly idea that walksnail is broken. Smearing can be dealt with. It works for a lot of people. I've got videos of flying in big open fields, baseball fields. Bandos. I've flown it all. For 4 years now I've been flying all type of VTXs. I've flown them all. I'm not gonna argue or tell you that your opinion is wrong. It's just not my experience or any of the pilots I've been friends with experience since the newer firmwares.
Unless your signal is getting jacked up. There isn't any smearing for me or many other people
I'm also near the ground and you can see the grass plane as day in this video. I'm so close to the ground I almost crash. No smearing 🤷
serious question here (newby) was that the through the goggles footage quality? did you disable the hud or something?
That was through the goggles. So it reckless what it receives from the signal. You can add the OSD later if you want it. I didn't disable it. I just didn't add the file during editing. There is a program that allows you to overlay the OSD. I just didn't do that since it wasn't needed.

Hello, thanks for the video and the work. Can you do the same test with 1080p 50mb 100fps and a faster drone? I like walksnail, but I already had the DJI G2.
I cannot test 1080p/100fps at this time. I use the V1 goggles

Do you know how it could be different in CE instead of FCC? I don't have access to high bitrate channels on CE, and I notice smearing just by going behind some trees 20 meters away. I do have to play around more with the settings I guess, but when I set framerate lower, I get around 40ms of latency instead of the usual 26. Other than that, when in line of sight it works amazing and it's super clear. Also are you using stock antennae on the goggles X?
Sounds like you could be seeing it due to weak signal. If you are able and can use the FCC hack I would. I use true RC antennas. Low bitrate high frame rate should yield the same results. From what I've found the 3dnr and sharpness are what cause the issue. Trying 3dnr in low or off or mid and see how it changes things. If that doesn't work it could just be a signal issue. Trees block signal really bad and can cause it to break up. Even close by sometimes. Humidity can even degrade signal.
yeah do FCC if you can - worlds of difference, are you flying a 5"? 20m even on a whoop at 25mw CE seems off
Does walk snail have similar latency compared to dji?
Walksnail has more stable latency than DJI. It feels way more connected to the quad. DJI will sacrifice latency for picture quality. So DJI can feel spongy and "off" where as walksnail will stay pretty locked in. Makes a huge difference and was a big part of why I switched to WS as my daily

Jk. However, the problem doesn’t happen with everyone. It seems to be an intermittent problem with VTX. And you have to win the walksnail silicon lottery to have a good experience.
To add to this, I have smearing issues with the big VTX the 1s VtX is almost perfect
OP, you’re also using four patches, and the V1 walk snail goggles. The goggles X definitely has some problems with signal quality.. There are many users who who have reported this and many users who have had many different problems with them, including smearing.. I’m not trying to be a but hole about it I want walk snail to work. I would love to switch from DJI.
I think you’re not into many different environments that are running into and doesn’t answer that walksnail is worth using yet.

@DanoFPV I've seen issues with the Goggle X, so I understand that can contribute to signal issues. Which is going to cause problems with any system. But I've flown every single type of terrain you can think of. Concrete bandos, beaches, forests and mountains, ball parks, rivers. No smearing for me. Which the point I was making in this video is that it's not the system. Any time it shows up.. it's usually because of antenna or signal. Which is going to be an issue with analog, dji, hdz and walksnail. To say walksnail is broken or not ready for having the same problems all systems have when they get low on signal. Isn't fair IMO.
And yes I am using 4 X air antennas on the V1 goggles. Do people not upgrade antennas on DJI or HDZ or Analog?
@DanoFPV also thank you for responding snd commenting. Not being a butthole. It's a topic people have big opinions on. I think expectations are set way to high for walksnail. But if you look at what they have provided.. more options than DJI, better quality than a vista ever was. They also care enough to adjust upcoming products to what the community wants. To write them off or say they aren't good enough because you gotta upgrade your antennas? Come on now.. walksnail is a solid option. I've never said they are better than DJI technology wise. But if you love all of FPV, they are a better choice. Everyone wants an 03 clone.. walksnail isn't that and isn't trying to be. Look at what they are..
I run the V2s, 1s vtx, and one V3. All have been great. Have had many of all of them. Guess I just get lucky all the time.. or maybe they aren't as bad as the people shouting about it online are saying they are. 🤷

Thanks!!! Those are the webleedFPV 0702 28000kv. They make some even higher in KV but 28000kv was more than enough for me. They are super smooth motors. Probably going to run them on all my whoops now. I was impressed.

@tootfpv usually I go wirh the Tmotor 12a but I was going for lowest weight possible on this one. Trying out the BetaFPV cross for the first time. We shall see how it lasts 🤣 also another reason I didn't go eith the 30k+ ones
Smearing? I've been flying WS since its release and I've never encountered this I have both goggles X and the vrx

Is DJI perfect? Hell no.
The myth is that the system is broken due to smearing. Not saying it's 03 or trying to be 03. Just saying the smearing isn't killing the system like people online claim.

If I could be bothered to upload a comparison video I'd show you. I'm not even comparing to 03. I'm comparing vista and W.S. W.S struggles flying low and close to the ground with really poor compression and mush.
I think you edited your comment to say the 03 better be better due to the cost. Not sure about the states but here in the UK there isn't a big difference between the moonlight and 03. Maybe £15 or so.
The only reason I keep W.S is because the custom OSD and the goggles are slightly more comfortable than the crap fit DJI goggles. Haven't tried goggles 3 yet but if the fit is better and 03 air unit support is solid I'll be dumping all of my w.s transmitters and goggles.
I have as many criticisms of DJI as I do of Caddx but as I only flew my Caddx Whoop about twice there isn't any real benefits of keeping 2 systems.
If HDZero could get there shit together I'd drop both in a heartbeat.

i fly nothing but bandos - i flew dji and vista and they are both great, my 6 WS kwads fly identically as good in the bandos and i never see smearing
