I think elements of it are really cool, especially for zero build. It does feel a bit floppy sometimes though.
I like the crouching animations but it's really the lack of a proper running animation that makes it feel really bad Imo.
I do honestly really like it, and it's not just because I love fortnite (even though I do). It slows down the game and it feels a lot more strategic with everything you do, personally I don't see it as a problem. If they do keep it in, adding slap juice into the game again would help a lot.
This update is very similar to the h1z1 combat update that changed movement and gun mechanics and the game died because they never reverted it back.
True, although H1Z1 did eventually revert it but I think it was too little too late by then and then they ended up fully abandoning the game because it died out.
I think they decreased movement speed to offset the increase in speed by being able to walk now while using items is my guess.
Regardless of their reasoning, it feels terrible and those items don’t help you when in a build fight. I feel like I’ve never played Fortnite in my life trying to build while using this movement. It completely ruins the game for me tbh.
Trust me, its also bad in zero build. It makes me not want to play the game, it ruining the fun. To me it just feels like cod and pubg got a baby togheter, and thats not what i want. Also map is nice, but in not fan of some of the terrain, reminds me to much of warzone, and im a big fan of the old art, like the ch1 and 2 and 3 terrain. This is not the game i fell in love with, and it makes me so sad.
I completely agree. Especially after having a month of classic Fortnite. I'm not sure what they were thinking with this tbh. It just slows down the game and makes moving around and building feel clunky. Also yeah, the movement is very similar to PUBG. After 6 years of no one complaining about the movement of Fortnite, it makes me think this was just change for the sake of change. Hope they revert it.

It really does ruin the game Imo. After two days of playing, I just can’t get to a point where I can be okay with it.
That strafing test at 3:00 is bullshit. I’m able to do what is happening on the right hand screen with no issue. That doesn’t even actually happen. It’s okay to say you don’t like the 10 percent decreased speed, but that’s it. Everything else is perfectly fine. You even have a higher speed when side strafing left and right and backwards. All they need to do is keep the animation and revert the physical speed back to match the old speed and everything will be fine. And crouch speed is also reduced. And I’m happy with that, crouch walking should be nerfed. It was so annoying when someone is crouch walking around a build fight and no one even hears them. Now it’s much slower so there’s a much more balanced trade off if you want to be stealthy you have to pay the price of reduced speed.
