There's a great deal of history as to why Loren was chosen for this song as opposed to voices like our favs (Morissette personally for me) and others that have covered like Katrina and Jona. Loren was voicing the singing voice of Swedish Jenny Lind. Pasek and Paul (the writers) wanted the type of color in Lorens voice and they also wanted her to have a Swedish dialect (you can hear it in the original ) Rebecca Ferguson (the actress that played Lind) had trained to sing the part, but once Loren sang , that was all she wrote everyone wanted her to sing the song in the movie. I personally love what Loren did with the original and though Mori is my favorite cover, I give all the respect to Loren, because she set the basis that all these covers are piggy backing on.

For me her version lacks something .maybe she is trying to sing it too perfect when sometimes less is more and the short intakes of breath coming from Loren and her raspy sound makes her Unique .:-)

I think that loren is the perfect voice for this song.
