thanks for the informative video, I plan on starting my own family In Stephenville as my dad's side is all from Newfoundland. I've discussed with my girlfriend many times and both of us are sick of city life in Barrie, Ontario due to everyone from Toronto filtering down here causing more expensive housing, more construction and higher cost of living overall. Even though taxes are higher due to the shipping methods even as I've hit my 20's I'm still considering on leaving Ontario. Gonna be taking a week trip to Newfoundland in 2024 mostly to see how the lifestyle is and to meet all of the family members I haven't gotten the chance to meet, and to see my dad as I haven't seen him in a few years since he lives there (we do keep in touch though)

I’m Canadian ( Vancouver since 9 years old , but born in Winterpeg /Winnipeg). His Newfoundland accent is very slight and actually not very pronounced as he’s an obvious city dweller ( called a “townie” in Newfoundland)and post secondary educated and I can distinguish in his pronunciation that he has lived on the mainland for several years in his lifetime , such as probably in Toronto.
A typical Newfoundland accent is much more of a deep Irish type brogue and they speak much faster , especially in rural smaller communities . In rural communities in Newfoundland outside the Capital city of Saint Johns I found it very difficult to comprehend what people were articulating to me, but they are the most congenial , gregarious, genuine people in all of Canada 🇨🇦 and I love that province and its natural beauty and the beauty and character of the people therein are the very best in all of my entire country , be they urban or rural they are great people . ✔️👌🏻

Those home prices really aren't too bad compared to the Pacific Northwest. In the Portland area, you're looking at an average home price of $550K in American dollars. Even in the smaller cities it's getting up there. In Eugene, which is about the same size as St. Johns, you're looking at $400K American for a median home price. And the BC side of the border is way more expensive -- comparable with southern California prices.
Newfoundland seems like a great place, and the coastline reminds me a lot of the Oregon coast with all of the trees and sea cliffs. Last time I was there was about 25 years ago, and I just loved it.

      @cal2062 Před 3 lety +2

It is a paradise. I live on the opposite end of Canada right on the Pacific Ocean in Vancouver Canada ( right above Seattle) most of Canada are envious of Vancouver but I adore Newfoundland as my favourite province in Canada, it used to be very cheap to buy homes there but now that they have offshore oil rigs and the oil industry there then prices went up but a couple hundred thousand is nothing for a house compared to Vancouver where a falling down rat trap is a million dollars , you can’t buy anything in Vancouver in a detached home for less than a million dollars as the smallest sized property is a million just for the land . Vancouver is right up there with Hong Kong in terms of one of the most expensive real estate in the world
What Hollywood actors pay in Beverly Hills or Burbank ect is just normal pricing in Vancouver for everyone . Where I live in the most costly area in all Canada a suburb called “West Vancouver “ there is no such thing as a detached house under 4 million dollars and that’s for just an old home built in like the 1960’s , as it’s the land that is astronomical here , once you go up the mountain then the houses are new and then 7 million and up hence 10 and 20 million is normal for new large detached homes in West Vancouver with ocean view on the mountain called “ British Properties”
Hence 200 or 300 thousand dollars for ocean view homes in Newfoundland are new homes big old and that’s dirt cheap in comparison to Vancouver
The air is like pure oxygen in Newfoundland

As someone who has lived in different places all over Canada. It's a " myth " that the martime's or NFLD are cheaper places to live.
It's no different then living north of Toronto in cottage country. North of Quebec city. Fort Mack..Drugs are on the risk all across Canada along with chrime rates.
Multiculturalism is taking over. Land Tax's are on par with Northern ONT and Alberta, NB. NS. If you live near a populated area. Your gonna pay about the same. Tax's are also over all higher in the East.
Yes the over all wadge's per jobs are lower East of Quebec but that is Quickly changing and about the only difference. When comparing rural places in Canada.

First, my only complaint above was that the person in the video invited people to go kill their wildlife. I wasn't pointing the finger at Newfoundland at all, just this particular person in this particular video.
Second, there's nothing in your first paragraph that I don't disagree with, so I don't understand why you've decided to direct so much anger towards me.
Third, I don't know why you're assuming where I live. I don't live in Vancouver or Victoria.
Fourth, from the same paragraph, in fact the same sentence, "you don't even know that our province of British Columbia is the very worst offender..." How do you know what I know or don't know about it? I haven't commented on which province is the worst.
Fifth, "Dig your damed [sic] head out of the sand and wake up and stop pointing fingers at Newfoundland..." You're a very angry person, but it would be much better if you focused your anger on people that disagree with you.
Sixth, once again, I was NOT pointing the finger at Newfoundland.
Seventh, "...when your own back yard stinks the worst!" Again, you don't know where I live.
Eighth, maybe "damed" wasn't a typo. You spelled it that way twice.
Well, then you spelled it correctly finally, but then you screwed it up again after that.
