1 cup milk, for breading station
6 beef cubed steaks (6 ounces each)
    salt and pepper to taste
    Oil for frying
    Gravy
    2-3 tablespoons of pan drippings
    1/4 cup flour
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 1/2 to 2 cups milk
    1 tablespoons powdered chicken bouillon
    Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy
    Directions
Place 1 1/2 cups flour in a shallow bowl. In a separate shallow bowl, whisk eggs and 1 cup milk until blended. Sprinkle steaks with salt and pepper. Dip in flour to coat both sides; shake off excess. Dip in egg mixture, then again in flour.
In a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, heat 1/4 in. oil over medium heat. Add steaks; cook until golden brown on each side. Remove from pan; drain on paper towels. Keep warm.
Remove all but 2-3 tablespoons oil from pan. Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup flour, salt and pepper to taste and chicken powder; stir over medium heat until golden brown, 3-4 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Serve with steaks.
    Molasses Bread
    INGREDIENTS:
    1 cup warm water
    1 tablespoon dry yeast
    1/4 cup honey
    1/3 cup molasses
    1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
    2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    3/4 Whole wheat flour
    2 teaspoons kosher salt
    1 Tablespoon olive oil
    INSTRUCTIONS:
Grease a large bowl and set aside.
In the bowl of a stand-mixer, add water, yeast and honey. Set aside to proof for 5 minutes. Once yeast begins to bubble, add to the flours, salt and oil. Using the dough attachment, mix on low speed until mixture comes together into a dough ball. Knead for ten minutes.
Transfer dough to the greased bowl. Flip over so that top of dough is now greased. Cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm place for dough to double in size.
Punch down dough and shape dough. Transfer dough to a greased loaf pan. Cover with a clean dish towel and set aside in a warm place until dough rises.
Bake on the center rack of a 350°F for 35 minutes. Remove and let cool.

Shelby this is a recipe for Veda bread, it is an Ulster classic. Ulster is really Northern Ireland. It is delicious sliced with lashings of butter and strong cheddar cheese. Recipe: Veda Bread
    Ingredients
    280 g white flour
20 g roasted barley malt flour
30 g brown malt flour with walnuts
    60 g barley malt extract
    2 teaspoons salt
    3 tablespoons olive oil
    150 g warm water
    8 g yeast
    Preparation
Preheat your oven to 400°C, and place a container of water inside.
In a bowl, mix the warm water with the flour.
Leave to stand for 5 minutes at room temperature.
Then add the salt, oil, barley malt extract, 3 flours and yeast.
Knead generously until you obtain a homogeneous ball.
Leave to stand for 15 minutes.
Press the air out of the dough and knead again.
Place the dough in a loaf tin.
Bake at 400°C for 30 to 40 minutes.
If the bread sounds hollow, it's done, otherwise you can put it back in the oven.

I think she had to endure a lot of criticism for the amount of money she spent on those hauls, with people not appreciating that it was a yearly stock up rather than just a regular thing. Maybe she’s reluctant to do them again because of that, particularly seeing how much prices have risen since?

I keep an old coffee cup and drain my oil from my pans into it. Let it cool completely and the fat will solidify and you then can just toss it into the trash. Wash the coffee mug and it is ready for the next time.
