- Prince Rama Varma celebrated his 55th birthday with a teaching session and a concert at Hyderabad, which attracted music lovers and music students from all over the world.
One of the highlights of the session was when Varma ji presented this rarest of rare gems....
an exquisite little masterpiece in the 5th Melakarta Raga Mānavati by the incredibly talented and versatile Pandit Shiv Dayal Batish!

Here, Varma ji is accompanied by Sri S.R.Vinu on the violin, Sri B.Harikumar on the mridangam and music students of all ages and levels from the audience! - Hudba
The Prince is actually making a statement here. I hear some contemproray vidwans (at least one big name) making big political statements of taking Carnatic music to everyday people. This is how Prince does it. Watch and learn. I can see many of his students singing along including young children, doing a big thaalam happily. Very soon they will become Professionals. Why not? Let us support his approach. there's no discrimination here. Not just in name, he will be a Prince in the hearts of the rasikas. And, to acknowledge less known composers shows humility and passion. Was fortunate to learn this rare vivadi Raga by S.D.Batsh Sir.. which was taught by Prince Rama Varma 2 days before the concert. The good fortune extended further when we could all sing along the same song during the concert..it was a magical experience indeed..🎊🎊🌹🌹
