just for reference, the reason why Monokuma sounds completely different is because the voice actor literally forgot how to do his voice so he doesn't really get a grip on it until later in the game LMAO

@@mhoffman3952 Nope, the Japanese Monokuma has multiple VAs for the games but the English ones just have one guy. The lady who did the Japanese voice retired and her replacement took over when they were recording the second anime series. For some reason the English dub uses completely different VAs for the anime than the games and are generally considered to be not as good.
I love how every time it says "Rise and Shine, Ursine" we get an "oh God" reaction out of one or both of them. Buckle up boys its gonna be a long ride!
After realizing that the Monokubs being annoying is on purpose and "why", I appreciate their interruptions because of how exasperated the Grumps are.
It's so nice to see the grumps have the exact same reaction I did every time the Monokubs show up

Well, Lumpy Space Princess has a deep valley girl voice. The valley girl voice works for someone like Miiu.

In hindsight, Arin opting for the Sonic voice for Kokichi is pretty appropriate considering that he keeps harassing the robot of the group.
I thought it was fitting right off the bat, but this episode did indeed cement that point also making the voice even MORE fitting.😂
Fun fact: you can technically beat the despair tunnel even though it's "impossible" per the plot. You get kicked out at the end and go on with the game like normal, but you _do_ get a fancy cover for your monopad

@@sagedill5993 You're not supposed to, it has some really deviously evil parts of it that Arin never made it to. You have to constantly save scum it to beat it but you do get an alternate ending and a reward. But obviously not a real ending.

Strangely enough, that part of his character is probably what makes Kokichi so interesting. He essentially becomes a sorta Rorschach because you don’t know what to believe when it comes to him.

You definitely start to feel the despair in this game. However, this game is not nearly as dark as Ultra Despair Girls.

Arin voicing Kokichi as Sonic the Hedgehog is great, but so is Dan voicing Miu as if Lumpy Space Princess was even lumpier than usual.

Imagine if thats just how the game ended. some plane crashes into the dome and they are all just like "HOLY SHIT WE'RE FREE!"
Ultimate Gaslighter is perfect for Kokichi. A really good liar wouldn't come out and admit he's a liar, plus most of his lies are pretty transparent. But he is definitely a Master Gaslighter
Honestly, when people say that his lies are obvious that just means he's truly won. He is a good liar in the sense that his lies and his truths are merged so well together, everyone always assumes his truths are lies (because they are nice) and his lies are true. He announces himself as the ultimate supreme leader of an "evil" organization and says he finds the game entertaining. Obvious truths, right? I mean he says so! So that also means when he says something that shows care but then goes back to say it was a lie, that means it was obviously a lie! Right? Because he said so! It's easier to have the mindset that his lies are obvious if you're only seeing things in black and white.

One of the best parts of these playthroughs is the characters making the same jokes as the Grumps immediately after they make them.
I spent several hours to complete the Despair Run. You get a sort of secret ending that hints to chapter five of this game. It is not even a Steam achievement.
I think you still need it for "V3 Complete" - getting the entire gallery

Yeah, some V3 CGs/sprites are kind of wonky/rushed/look goofy. Shuichi's first sprites in the prologue have an unshaded hat, for example.

Well, the floor opens upwards for the fire to shoot out and it can't do that if someone is standing on top of it. He even accidentally blocked it twice, but then just.... wasn't paying attention and continued jumping and dying.
@@vigorouslethargy There was the exact same trap right next to it without the flamethrower, if you walk over it you immediately die. So logically, you would avoid walking over the second trap. I think game design wise, it was poorly placed and without explanation, so not intuitive at all. But you're free to disagree. 🤷

Yes. That's what makes it an effective trap. It shouldn't be obvious on your first attempt. The first time you realize that first floor trap is a pit that *drops* you're conditioned to thinking you need to jump the second one as well. But jumping is the opposite of what you should do. Now this whole thimg is trual and error, but you'd think after losing nearly 32 lives on one trap Arin would stop jumping and at least try *something* else. The only ones that made it through did so because they caught the flames going down between activations.

the almost instant annihilation of every character during the platforming segment after over two hours of buildup absolutely killed me

I'm on holiday, but watching this Danganronpa playghrough is more important than enjoying my first time out of my own country
And Dan already hates Kokichi...excellent...I was hoping that the grumps would combine the robot jokes with the senior citizen jokes after Keebo's line about having their strength. The senior citizen jokes are my favourite.
Looking forward to seeing if they end up hating Kokichi as much as they hated Byakuya and Nagito.
