oh man, I sure do love it when writers spend a bunch of time and effort writing in characters that add literally nothing to the setting or plot. I'm sure that's a good sign.
I don't necessarily hate it, but wouldnt that class was bad writing?
@@00nasco48 the part I hate about it is not only are they a complete waste of time *by design* if they are intended to be skippable without losing any context, but then the writers also turn around and try and lampshade it with monokuma trying to crack jokes about mascots returning in sequels. It's like the writers know they wrote trash but think that being "self-aware" suddenly makes it not trash.
@@burnin8able If you've seen the ending, you know the meta jokes have some purpose to them. The Monokubs' lines aren't completely worthless either, as they do provide information to us, albeit in an overly bloated way. Maybe you could consider all those pieces of information "not important", but I don't see how "important information" can be quantified in this game asides from clues in murder cases, which would make 99% of characters' lines unimportant.
Even funner fact: You can skip all of Danganronpa and miss nothing important! /j
Even though I'm still sure this isn't Arin's favorite game series by a long shot, I'm still oddly touched he fondly remembers the past gags, bits, and even names. Nothing brings me more joy than Arin doing his Monokuma voice.
Well then I recommend their Paper Mario play through he uses it for one of the villains in that game.

1. I'm surprised Arin didn't recognize his fellow Newgrounds vet Rina-Chan as Kirumi
2. Monokid is voiced by Patrick Seitz. Some notable roles include Dracula in Castlevania: symphony of the Night, Dio in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Endeavor in My Hero Academia, Gamagori in Kill La Kill, and Agil in Sword Art Online.
3. The reason Monokuma sounds higher pitched is because his VA hadn't done the voice in a while and couldn't remember how it sounded. As the game goes on it gets better.
To add onto #2, Seitz also voiced our boy Nekomaru from DR2
iirc, every single character in v3 is voiced by a previous dgrp voice actor! ryoma is gundham, monophanie is sonia, miu is akane, monodam is byakuya, etc etc
I thought Monokuma's VA had laryngitis or something, which is why he couldn't do his original voice pitch because it hurt his throat too much.

Yeah they picked some great voices for the characters. My favorites so far are probably Kokichi, Maki, Yumeno, and Miu
Somehow, it was EXACTLY the voice I expected them to use for Kokichi. Like, if you think of it... there's literally no other option lol
I'll give credit where it's due; Arin repurposing his other character voices for the Danganronpa antags oddly works.

@Lucifersfursona I'm not the biggest fan of him (find him kinda annoying in game youre right dude IS just a twink) but replaying the game with what we know by the end in mind is fascinating, cause EVERYTHING he says pushes what he was trying to do forward. I don't remember when but momota comes up with the exact same plans as ouma multiple times, just after the trials instead of before the murders, he says "its so bad we didnt think of doing that!" But then, ouma DID think of doing that. And at the end, he won. His plan worked.

35:30 important to note that in the JP version “Ultimates” were referred to as “Super High-School Level ” so yes Kyoko would be the “Former Super High-School Level Detective”
Also, the school had a new "Lucky Student" every year - Makoto and Nagito are both lucky students, and they attended at the same time, so there's no reason to assume that other talents didn't overlap at times.
For those wondering about Monokuma’s voice. There was a long wait between games and so the voice for him forgot how to do it the same way. But he fazes back into the original voice as it goes

In case anyone is curious: Yes, the “actual” Danganronpa 3 is the anime they saw clips of in the opening. For some reason the end of the story started by the first two games is an anime.
Danganronpa V3 is a whole different beast, as you and the Grumps will soon come to learn.

V3 has almost nothing to do with the original Hope’s Peak saga (the first two games, ultra despair girls and the anime) aside from the core gameplay mechanics and the killing game concept with 16 talented highschoolers.

V3 is a sort of reboot, the actual Hope's Peak storyline concludes with the Danganronpa 3 anime.
