LG is guilty of the slim bezel illusion as well. My 27" has about as much black space on the LCD screen as the actual bezels which makes the actual "non-viewable area" twice as large. Which also means it is not actually a 27" diagonal. I personally advocate truth in advertising. If you advertise 27", it needs to be 27". Not 26.5. If you advertise 1gbps internet speed, it needs to be 1 gigabit per second. Not "Up to" 1 gbps, but a minimum of 1gbps. If you advertise a CPU as 5GHZ, it needs to be able to always run at 5ghz. Not "sometimes", and like internet speed, not "up to".

@@introvertplays6162 why does the software suck exactly...? The right thing to do of Razer would be to recall all the monitors and change the firmware with a proper overdrive mode and factory calibrate each unit.
Wow, I almost bought this monitor, it was on my short list. Mainly because I was looking for something with minimal bezels. Crazy, that is indeed (to me) false marketing on their part. THANK YOU.
i like the stand design. it feels more sturdy since I move a lot in my desk and I think with this wide stem, the monitor will be less likely to wobble wiggle. and i can place external speaker at the bottom base.
Good to see content like this. Pretty easy to make all products sound good by spinning them as decent enough for some niche users, but when there is a genuinely bad product, you have to call it that. And you even gave ideas for what razed could do to make it an almost reasonable product

Hey, Tim. The MSI MAG274QRF-QD has recently gotten a firmware update that claims to fix the lack of sRGB clamp. Can you test this out and confirm that it works?
It's not an 800$ monitor. It's a 350-400$ monitor priced for the fanatic brand shills. Got mine for 400$ on "sale" and it's a great monitor at that price point. Beautiful design, great IO, and the image quality is amazing. Not 800$ amazing, but at 400$ it feels right.
Beautiful monitor, great stand and luxury green cables. It is truly a piece of art and reminds other manufacturers about the importance of design. Well done Razer. It is only 500 bucks more than the competition. That is practically less than one month's rent, such an outstanding deal.
So you've tried all of their products ? They've made some great products lately, and some are really affordable like the viper mini and seiren mini. I think you just hate them without a reason lol
Considering you usually check with manufacturers when you find these results that are far off from what is advertised, did you get any response from Razer? And if so, can you share what their reply was?
Rtings has also reviewed the Raptor 27 165hz and they got similar results. The response times are like an IPS panel from 2-3 years ago and not competitive with any decent IPS display (MSI MAG274QRF-QD, Gigabyte M27Q, Dell S2721DGF, and so on)

The real question is why there aren’t solid industrial design monitor desk stands available, like seem on iMacs and now the Raptor. Almost all monitors stands coming out of Taiwan look terrible. When I’ve asked about this previously, everyone just points to using an arm (which doesn’t suit my setup).
For people asking if it's worth it at $400 which is the sale newegg is having currently, he says it in the video: 22:37 , even at 400, hard time recommending it. The M27Q-P is back in stock for $299, much better monitor, bought one awhile back and so far, best 1440P monitor other than my M34WQ
Best gaming monitor. In my opinion, the ASUS PG348Q Ultrawide 100hz G Sync IPS, with very little backlight bleed. It’s an excellent product. Expensive 3 years ago, yup very expensive then. But a good price now. And, 100hz is a very acceptable speed. No real issues of ghosting or overshoot. Also 1440p is the sweet spot for gaming. Even now in this segment of the 21st century.

Razer, how would you justify the price?
Razer: It... has RGB at the front and it looks pretty.
For 800+ dollars, I'll just buy two better displays, tape some nice cable combes on the back, buy a RGB light strip for the base, and throw a snake logo on the back... just to make my own Raptor, by calling it the Rex
Out side of a mouse and keyboard I own nothing else from them.
@@evacody1249 I loved the first time they released/showed their Goliathus mousepad w/ RGB, I think it's their cheapest one
@@sushimshah2896 Don't forget the shag carpeting on the back!
Rex, how primeval, lol. you can probably get away with telling cool stories about how Rex escaped intel's ARC (Anomaly Research Center), lol.
Sort Price→From Highest to Lowest: Razer takes the crown.
Sort Performance→From Worst to Best→Razer takes the crown, again.
We cannot be impressed even more.
"Overpriced, Underperforming Trash" - basically any razer product.
I respectfully disagree. In my opinion, Razer has improved quite a few of their products over the last couple of years. Their mice are good, their keyboards are good and their laptops are good. They still have this old reputation that their products are low quality, and that was fully deserved, but they have been improving of the years.
Not every product but they released a lot of crap over the years.
Not really. The Huntsman TKL KB and the Viper family is quite on point and quality products. Not much else besides those though.
Its the gucci of the techworld. Just keep a good distance to it
I actually use their ballistic mouse, and it has to be one of the best ones I have used this far, especially for the price. But yes the rest out of their mouse and keyboards, are trash.
Can't believe that RTings actually gave the Raptor 27 2021 a score of 9.0/10 for its response time at max refresh rate and an overall score of 8.0/10.
only thing i can think about now is why everyone else doesn’t learn from razer design wise. look at that, it’s so clean and cool I bet it’s even cheaper to design instead of all the dumb dragons and articulated ugly gaming decorations
The monitor can't swivel though and the height is apparently too short at the highest setting
It's very simple, they are convinced gamers want that shit. This is absolutely ingrained in these companies.
@@icecoldkv8005 ive never had a monitor with swivel or high adjust however im about to go and buy 3 indentical monitors to replace my random assortment of old 1080p monitors only wish 16:10 monitors still existed but alas they rather make 21:9 monitors
@@sanjisanpu because most gamers want that.
@@rajyavardhansingh4491 That may have been true in the 90s, but the demographics have shifted.
Whoa so now Razer has to actually put effort in their product instead of putting everything in look ?
and failed!
I still can't figure out why people bought razer phones
@@nazmulfahad3044 the Razer Phone was one of a kind at launch and certainly not overpriced. Sure it had many flaws like mediocre brightness & cameras, but it wasn't marketed as an all-rounder phone anyways. In fact if I had the money, I'd have definitely bought the updated model (on sale it was $500 iirc)
The Raptor 27 on the other hand is utter 🗑️!!
@@sushimshah2896 The phone was trash as well.
To give them credit, their mice have actually improved tremendously in the past few years. The Viper is one of the most popular FPS mice on the market at the moment
Tech brand names have basically abandoned quality for fashion, so now you too can be the life of the party with these wonderful accessories (*camera pans to show a monitor with leather purse straps and female model demonstrating with it as a purse accessory* )
That thumbnail can be applied to a huge majority of Razer producs to be honest lol
Fair enough lol, pretty much only their mice are good.
True...the only product I value very highly by them is my Viper Ultimate. Not only because it is one of the best, if not still the best wireless mouse, but also because despite the software in general sucking, it is atleast the most reliable in auto switching profiles in between games and programs.
@@introvertplays6162 why does the software suck exactly...?
It's clear and easy to navigate, it controls both my mouse and keyboard (Viper and Huntsman) and you pretty much never use it unless you want to change your DPI presets or lighting (i just turn it off on mouse). Maybe I'm missing out on something, what else should be implemented there?
Not true
@@koraptd6085 It is very intrusive. It installs itself like malware when you connect one of their peripherals.
I still bought one, maybe I am a fool, but I believe in their products. Once I get it and test it out, we'll see if I will keep it. Thanks for your opinion though, now I will see for myself how it delivers. It will likely be better then any other monitor I have owned, I think if you want to buy into the eco system of Razer, this may be for you. Just my thoughts
Reviewers like these guys are a breath of fresh air.
Thank you for your hard work and for telling it like it is!
It's just all negative though, and at the end of the day it's just an opinion. I listen to all sorts of reviewers but I still purchase the items, regardless what they say, to me that's critical thinking and seeing things for yourself instead of someone else's opinion.
THANK YOU.
that happens nowadays when you look for the trademark name.
without tests like this one, the companies would bleed us out.
I don't buy anything without checking reviews.
i like the stand design. it feels more sturdy since I move a lot in my desk and I think with this wide stem, the monitor will be less likely to wobble wiggle. and i can place external speaker at the bottom base.
lol 30 seconds in and he says, don't buy this product. xD I kept watching tho.
Honest and Reliable Reviews with consistent Integrity is why everyone keeps coming back to this Channel. Thanks
Razor made something overpriced? Color me impressed
Just color you impressed? Maybe RGB you impressed. But with Razer, you'll get green tinted impressed, at triple the price.
@@alphapt9370 lmao
Good to see content like this. Pretty easy to make all products sound good by spinning them as decent enough for some niche users, but when there is a genuinely bad product, you have to call it that. And you even gave ideas for what razed could do to make it an almost reasonable product
I doubt Razer fans will see this.
If Razer fans watched reviews, Razor would have died a long time ago.
They used to produce mediocre and poor quality products, but new mice and keyboards are pretty good, like the Hunstman TE and Hunstman Mini $69 to $82 US dls and Viper Ultimate-V.Mini. ($150 and $50) got a V. Ultimate 2 tears ago and stills good as new.
Yeah, I made the mistake of buying a Razer mouse and Headset years ago. Both were utterly garbage products that failed not long after purchase.
I knew I would never touch their shit quality junk again, and would actively discourage others from making the same mistake I did.
That was about 15 years ago and it looks like nothing has changed. Still a shit quality company.
if razer fans could read, they'd be very upset with your comment
@@uglyduckling81 punching your mice will break it

Shocking. I guess some of their mice are decent but that's about it.
Now that's some editorial direction if I ever seen one =D
I really like the stand, it makes it look like a small TV and hides cables brilliantly. I imagine it would also be a great shelf for snacks or figures XD
Shame the product is terrible
Hey, Tim. The MSI MAG274QRF-QD has recently gotten a firmware update that claims to fix the lack of sRGB clamp. Can you test this out and confirm that it works?
Hey, to use that do you have to set only sRGB in the colors or does it clamp with using a different mode?
It looks nice... and that's about it, which frankly isn't far from usual Razer products.
THX is owned by Razer and I remember they also applied THX certification to one of their headphones too
Yeah. The opus. I had it for a few days, but the background hiss was terrible. Returned it despite getting it for 80 bucks.
I wish the industry would move past 27” its 2021 and still very few good monitors above 27”
Quickest review I’d ever seen. After watching the review I was curious what the other 24 minutes and 20 seconds was about.
Beautiful monitor, great stand and luxury green cables. It is truly a piece of art and reminds other manufacturers about the importance of design. Well done Razer. It is only 500 bucks more than the competition. That is practically less than one month's rent, such an outstanding deal.
I'd love to see Tim review an old crt monitor. :D A fast retro review or something.
It would still be a better choice than the raptor 27
@@weirwolf 100%
I thought about the exact same thing watching this video. Yes, please.
2015 called, it wants its MG279Q back
Thank you for being honest! We need more of this in today’s world.
I like how blunt they put it, it's in the thumbnail and mentioned the first 10sec into the video
Razer doing Razer things. I'm surprised they haven't given their mices THX certificates
Me: reads title....
Also me: Yup! Pretty much ALL THEIR PRODUCTS!!!
So you've tried all of their products ?
They've made some great products lately, and some are really affordable like the viper mini and seiren mini. I think you just hate them without a reason lol
Razer: when you're comfortable paying double what it's worth but don't want to buy apple.
Good news: the price just chopped down to half on amazon.
Considering you usually check with manufacturers when you find these results that are far off from what is advertised, did you get any response from Razer? And if so, can you share what their reply was?
This! Seconded! :D
Rtings has also reviewed the Raptor 27 165hz and they got similar results. The response times are like an IPS panel from 2-3 years ago and not competitive with any decent IPS display (MSI MAG274QRF-QD, Gigabyte M27Q, Dell S2721DGF, and so on)
Yes, & so we are wondering how Razer will defend themselves (or what excuses they'll give)! ;)
Hey Tim,
I know you guys are always pretty busy. But I know I would love it if you could make a current top 5 gaming displays each month. You have one of the best review processes available, that is both dependable and consistent.
Also, side note, would it be possible to integrate display lag testing? You would be a one stop shop.
Cheers!
Love you guys!
Fun Fact: The CEO of Razer is also the CEO of THX.
Wow, I'm suprised how well HP Omen X 27 stood here, topping all this great IPS displays. I own one and i feel like this is most underrated gaming monitor. Great TN panel.
You're not the only one, me and my dad together own 2 of them.
I take it you're unaware of the fact that Razer owns THX. The certification is fake.
it's not fake, it is real, but what it stands for is apparently pure garbage, so not something anyone would strive for to get...
"Overpriced, underperforming trash"
Basically almost all razer products.
Except for the Deathadder mouse tho
At least Razer didn't try to change your editorial direction
LOL Razer bought THX, that's why it's certified
For people asking if it's worth it at $400 which is the sale newegg is having currently, he says it in the video: 22:37 , even at 400, hard time recommending it. The M27Q-P is back in stock for $299, much better monitor, bought one awhile back and so far, best 1440P monitor other than my M34WQ
No way you would be able to list 10 monitors in 20 seconds with the bizarre naming schemes they use :D
8:17 Post proof Tim. I don't believe even an expert like you could possibly smash out the letter and numbers of 10 different monitor names in just 20 seconds.
"Overpriced, Underperforming Trash". Ah yes, the Razer motto.
This monitor brand is officially DED. Razer will have to go back to the drawing board with every aspect of this product, including the name.
Hardware Unboxed: Your monitor is shit and not worth $800
Razer: but it has RGB
"Overpriced, underperforming trash" is a perfect description for the entirety of Razer
There's one thread you forgot to pull: it is indeed a Great Value after all, but only in the Wal-Mart sense.
Savage, most razer products are trash tho they just do great advertisement wise.
I have purchased and would love to see a review of the
MSI Creator PS321QR 32" WQHD 2560 x 1440 Monitor. :D
Sums up razer in general
I bought a 145$ curved viewsonic fhd 144hz monitor and have never regretted buying it.
"Overpriced, Underperforming Trash" sound like Razer's motto
23:18 Damn, that’s brute Tim, after they sent you a monitor, LMAO.
