Im blown away at the outrageous price
I agree. I probably would have bought one if it was in 92,000! Instead I bought a GX 460
Before he said the price, i thought Grand Highlander…..55..no probably close to 60 so this must be 65 k tops and at that price its a rip off. No way over 70k. 82k!! Are you kidding? Why would you pay that? Does it fly?
I agree and also notice a major downgrade in interior materials and design with Lexus. Compare this with the interior of the Genesis GV80. Striking difference in interiors.
@@joemcdonough7509 The interior materials are still impeccable in the modern Lexus models but the design is indeed lacking
It’s just a fancy Toyota Highlander
this awd was actually impressive, i guess the rear motor is more powerful with a much better tune of the system.
It’s basically a more powerful version of the RAV4 Prime system…Smoother too with the V6
The RAV4 Prime proved that it had a stellar AWD setup. We loved ours. It climbed up to the mountain rental in snow with ease.
Love your channel! ❤
To those who say they'll never buy a van, just give in, unless you need to tow. Nothing is as functional as my van, and it handles great in the northern midwest snow with Cross Climate 2s.
Facts.
Yeah but a lot of moms are trying to compensate for something and refuse to drive minivans, it’s odd because when guys do that with big trucks they get called out. We husbands need to start calling out our wives and tell them to get over themselves, no one thinks your cool because you drive a highlander instead of a sienna 😂
As someone who grew up in extreme poverty and now a retired former business owner and consultant, I can say that my mom drove her 1988 Astro van into the ground, a lady of class that didn’t care about what she drove, just thankful she had something to drive. I spoiled her after I became successful and she never had to worry about an unreliable vehicle ever again.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 Astro Van is Iconic. Good on you.
I was set on my next car being a 3 row SUV until I rented a minivan during a vacation. Put my name on the Sienna wait-list as soon as I got home
Ryan, After watching the full video, I am reminded that potential buyers should think of this as an affordable Toyota Century rather than an expensive Grand Highlander. 🤩🤩
This is the Highlander Prime we never get
You may get it soon. I participated in some market research so they are definitely exploring a PHEV GH and Sienna
@@TobyCostaRicaHope it keeps the V6.
Quick question, could you for instance switch driving modes, or turn on/off rear cross traffic alerts using voice commands? While not ideal, it would probably be a better way of doing so compared to digging through menu options on the screen. Great video as always!
Other CZcamsrs: let's take it for a drive in real world traffic.
Ryan: let's take it off road.
Pretty cool that you can use it as a regular hybrid. Great review. Greetings
احب قناتك❤ تحيه لك من اليمن يعطيكم العافية
The drive modes are also available in the short cut menu
Maybe it isn't available in North America but in Sweden we can get a Lexus LM which is a minivan. If it's available for you it would be very interesting to see you review it!
You do know that you could have just turned off the HUD and the options would show up in the gauge cluster right? Also, there is a shortcut in the multimedia display for frequently used features or you could just use the voice assistant.
That's good to know, I was wondering how Lexus could have done something so stupid. But it still is ridiculous that you can't see the HUD when wearing sunglasses. What if you wear prescription glasses that darken in sunlight...?
@@alsheremeta He is wearing polarised sunglasses. If he was wearing normal sunglasses he would be able to see it just fine.
@@romairoblackstock5100 "Normal" sunglasses should be polarized, wearing sunglasses that are not polarized are more dangerous to your eyes than not wearing sunglasses at all, for example cataracts forming.
How is the ride comfort (suspension softness), particularly on rougher roads and in comparison to the Grand Highlander?
Would need to drive them side-by-side to confirm.
@@drivingsports Thanks for a quick reply and an interesting test drive. Just to clarify, how much was this TX on the softer or firmer side on those roads?
He totally blew this review and didn’t even discuss the most important topics
@@wallbangerzsports Appears that you should stop watching his videos...
Test the Outlander PHEV off-road.
wondering two things... given that the grand highlander and TX550 are almost the same, is Hybrid Max better than PHEV? then, which is the most targeted stolen vehicle, grand highlander or TX550, this question is for Canadians.
The TX500h is the hybrid max equivalent. the PHEV is exclusive right now to the TX
oh! that's nice.. i also wonder if there is any difference in terms of AWD performance between hybrid max and Phev powertrain on the TX
Everyone who reviews this seems to forget it’s a phev, we need details on the unique qualities of a phev, not just another tx review that mentions it happens to have a plug. That V6 is also a huge deal worth spending more time on discussing.
Exactly. This guy is a bozo just like the rest of them. Savagegeese is way better
What kind of "unique qualities of the phev" are you looking for? The only thing I noticed that would have been helpful is the on-board charger rate (6.6 kW) to charge up in ~3 hours. He didn't give the numbers, but he noted it was level 2. We have a decent idea of what that looks like at this point. Almost no PHEV is level 3 capable, so I wouldn't expect him to go out of his way to explain this one isn't also. Otherwise, I think he covered all the other questions about range, which wheels are powered by the electric motors, the battery size and composition, electric/hybrid mode options...
What happend to the circuit in the montains?? You don´t use it anymore?
We can’t shoot there in spring and late fall. Gets too muddy. We swing by in the Raptor road trip video for an update. That said videos are coming from our Mountain Rest Course: Jeep Rubicon X this Saturday. Colorado Bison after that.
nice! when's the review on the F performance version TX500h ? =)
They didn't send us one.
F Performance is marketing wizardry and you’re falling for it, bud
@@wallbangerzsportsfour wheel steering, adaptive suspension marketing wizardry? IMO the 500h is the one to get
Does it have bodyroll like LX600 or a little less?
None of that.
Well that off-road test wasn't exactly the Rubicon trail but it's more "off road" than I've seen in any other TX video thus far. I think go slow and gentle is my advice to potential TX off-roaders.
NGL me and my buddies refer to this channel and the host as Car DAD or the Car Dad channel
We call him Mr Legs & torso proportionate.
Your imaginary buddies
If the battery is dead, would the rear wheels still work?
Of course. But there’s very few scenarios where the battery would be drained completely. And if it does lose power, it would only be momentary since the engine is constantly feeding the battery electricity.
Was I hallucinating or did it look like that rear passenger wheel just kept spinning free for a long time without the brakes ever clamping down, 🤔
buh-TONS!
tah-MATO
I'm just going to like this video right off the bat :).
That’s not how it’s supposed to work bonehead
Compare with Infiniti QX 60
I just love that my Forester has thousand buttons. It’s just so much better…
wow... I really hope some new laws come in to organize how those menus are setup. there needs to be a formula across all cars... but then again, iOS and Android suffer the same issue. My solution would be small pressdown buttons just below the screen; oh, but then the price will go up right?
Thanks for the reviews. I really like the equal cons; we have to keep those loud so car makers do better each refresh.
Lexus’s smallest suv is actually the UX, followed by the NX…
You can’t take “7 passengers with you”. It’s not an 8 seater. 4:50 It’s 6 or 7 max capacity.
2:11 oooph. Missed level of detail there, Lexus. Surprised there isn’t a cap holder like on the gas caps.
there is a hook you on the inside of the lid
If my commute was 15 miles I wouldn't be buying a 82k vehicle! I'm fine with a 2010 old camry!
These doors and infotaiment nmakes very little sense.
It is a similar story with premium fuel required for Lexus models, even none sport ones.
I say all this tech. is neat. But if it is this far, needs to just go full on voice control. Fumbling around screens for basic need to use functions like climate control and audio control is absurd. Mercedes has led the way on such things. Others should be able to incorporate it by now. All that being said, IF I needed to carry a crew of over 5 people. .. whole wapping 6-8, a van makes perfect sense. Function over flash I say.
Странно почему нет люка простого, не говоря уже о панорамной крыше.
This may be the least impressive 82k dollar vehicle I’ve seen lately. Lexus is partaking in the ol’ crackpipe, I see.
Yeah it’s worth about 59 tops
Don’t look up Alexis Texas.
Lmao
😅😅
Thanks throttle house.
Wow this is the first time I’ve ever heard that joke! Did you think of it yourself?? or did you just copy the million other people who have already made that joke a thousand times
A man of culture
The front is too tame for me, its unlike the other Lexus models.
I understand it's a Lexus but 82k...wow
well it's the highest trim of the TX with a v6 plug in (which you can only get here in the lexus lineup for now)
yeah it calls for a hefty price
@@chibbyylolbut it doesn’t have any features 😂
$82k! Well damn...
I would upgrade the tires to Falken WildPeaks as a minimum for me. Nice car but steap price. Great video
Thanks Carlos no one cares
@@wallbangerzsports clearly you do
$80k for Highlander
looks like the lexus highlander
Hardy har har we are all laughing
Interior looks kinda cheap for a Lexus, imo 😊
Last Lexus with GR V6 engine.
Completely false. Try again
Wagon Queen Family Truckster for a new generation
😂
Electric mode be dammed- you still need oil changes…😂
What the hell? How is a basic Lexus station wagon $82k pretax lol
It's not the basic anything. This is the full-boat, loaded top-of-the-line 3-row SUV in premium luxury trim with the buttery smooth 3.5L V6 and a plug-in hybrid drive train with 33 miles of electric range. The "basic" one starts at $55K.
It's indeed overpriced with such interior materials provided and built.
However, Lexus brand name with V6 plug hybrid engine do worth half of the premium.
If this is not Lexus, believe it's hard to get any business even equipped with V6 hybrid engine.
I rather have the Lexus Minivan
“7 passengers with you”? Oh really? Show this 😅
English! It’s hard. 😂
The Lexus 550h+ plug-in hybrid is a six passenger vehicle. Add a driver to your "seven passengers with you" and you have eight. Hence, the "Show this😅" from Wasyk. This comment was written in common English for clarity.
@@cbotten106 I was joking about MY English. 😂
$83k ef u Toyota
Meh, the "trail mode" should just be a dirt road button. Too many of these new street suvs with trail modes that are misleading to people who dont know better lol
wow, 80K for the loaded model. no thanks.
I’m pumping out 318 horsepower from my 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs with the 3.5L V6
So a modded Tacoma? How much torque?
@@ALMX5DP 35 more than factory at 2K RPM
@@Doc1855 not bad, if it makes a healthy ~200lbft at that rpm I’d say that’ll probably feel pretty darn punchy compared to stock.
Like most hybrids the 550h+ runs a more efficient Miller cycle on the 3.5L. This type of engine cycle is inherently less powerful and why the power numbers are lower than TRD truck. Unless you just wanted us to know about your truck. Which is cool too.
@@cbotten106 Just making a comment like everyone else
no wonder people want Chinese cars outrageous prices
Kind of nice SUV…
It’s a CUV crossover rinky dink car
Hideous grill!
I’m too frugal to buy a Lexus. So I’ll just keep driving a Toyota
U do u pal
I mean, Toyota’s are easily within Lexus price range now and some are well exceeding Lexus prices. But suit yourself. They are all completely out of control price wise.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 We keep our vehicles for 15-20 years. A few years ago I bought my wife a new car as her Camry was 18 years old.
I bought a new 23 TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed. My old truck was 13 years old, but our parents are aging and we needed a 4 door pickup to help them get around.
I’m almost 60 years old and I’ve had 4 daily drivers since I was 18 and they’ve always been Toyota’s.
I drove my college car, (it was 5 years old when I bought it). It was a 78 Corolla and it died in 02 with 488K miles. I then bought a new Camry until my needs changed in 11 so I bought a new RAV Limited with the 3.5L V6 and now I have my Tacoma, which I plan on driving until I die
The frugal guy never gets laid
No buttons. No care.
it looks like generic chinese car
You’re driving the worst 3 row “luxury” suv on sale😂
He seemed pretty okay with it overall. Weird how the “worst” vehicle is still pretty pleasant and acceptable.
I sincerely disagree.
@@ALMX5DP but when compared to better 3 row SUVs like especially the telluride palisade traverse Acadia enclave etc the tx simply falls way behind
@@naveenthemachine again, despite all that he seemed largely fine with this vehicle as it is.
@@ALMX5DPbecause he doesn’t know that the superior competition exists. I bet he doesn’t even know what the competition is 😂
82 grand for an ugly Toyota minivan. How pointless.
