The US has also announced support for Israel's security situation meaning US troops can be deployed to assist with suppressing terrorist or Israeli-opposition forces. In effect, through military force, the US is unilaterally renegotiating the borders of a country it helped form with NATO, possibly while being an active participant in a campaign of genocide.

I am just SO heartened after listening to this speech by Bernie Sanders. He is a friend of EVERY country. There is "only" a human solution to the Israel/Palestina situation. Fighting between these 2 has on for SO many years... Fighting and revenge will never bring a peaceful solution.The present military attack on Gaza and the West Bank must stop IMMEDIATELY. I have lived in Europe for 48 years and it is incredible in this day & age that the US, UK and so many European countries do not support an immediate ceasefire! This fact has really knocked me. It is as though none of the politicians here have learnt from the dreadful experiences of the holocaust. I am so grateful for the truthful & unbiased reports of Al Jazeera. I admire Al Jazeera deeply. AND for ALL sensible and compassionate persons in the world, of whom there are MANY. Thank you so much for YOUR GREAT contribution to world peace, Bernie. Yeah, the Camp David Peace Accords and Yassar Arafat's legacy were really the only thing stopping the States & the Coalition from waging war on Palestine during the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars of the early 2000s. After that MTV camera crew was terrorized and an unknown militant group took over, the State Dept. in George Bush Jr.'s 2nd term labeled Palestine a terrorist state. That kinda left Palestine in limbo because no government in the West will recognize them as a legitimate state, but they're not big enough terrorists to be considered members of the Axis of Evil.
That's the official government line anyway.
My family came from Poland shortly before WW2 so I can see the problems here. I have Jewish relatives, Palestine sympathizers, and former employees of the Saudi Arab Emirates in my family. It's an extremely complicated topic.
If I heard the news correctly, and I assure you I didn't, Israel's ground invasion occurred simultaneously with its announcement that it will permanently take over the security situation in Gaza. In effect, this means the two State solution has failed and Israel has decided to finish annexing that area of Palestine.
The US military announced the commencement of operations in defense of Israel. This has destroyed the Democrats' plan for a peace deal going back to the time of Clinton. The US has also announced support for Israel's security situation meaning US troops can be deployed to assist with suppressing terrorist or Israeli-opposition forces.
In effect, through military force, the US is unilaterally renegotiating the borders of a country it helped form with NATO, possibly while being an active participant in a campaign of genocide.
The US isn’t doing nothing. They are funding Israel’s war on Gaza. 😢

Shocking?! It’s nothing new for the US govt to show a complete lack of humanity. From supplying police departments with military weapons so that they can actually murder their citizens rather than protect them to do nothing about mass shootings to making up lies to kill thousands and thousands of innocent people in other countries not manipulating elections in other countries so that despots who will cooperate with US interests get into power to paying for other countries (eg, Israel) to kill innocent people… how can any US atrocities be shocking?! Americans seriously need to learn about what their government does on a daily basis!!! Do you realize that Obama’s nickname was the Drone King while he was POTUS (he never deserved a Peace Prize!!)? You may not be old enough to remember the South African Truth And Reconciliation Commission of 1996, but it made it so that back and white South Africans could live together after Apartheid. I remember it well! It seemed impossible for blacks and whites to live together, but the commission made it possible.
All wars end eventually - usually when both sides have suffered enough and peace is a better alternative. Israel is quickly losing the international support it desperately needs, so, eventually the Israeli leadership will either change or their goals will change.
In the seventies, most OPEC members decided to stop shipping oil to Israel’s allies (like the United States). This caused major inflation, and it could happen again if Israel doesn’t stop the war and start peace talks.
