Don’t matter if you’re a Chevy guy or a ford guy you gotta always respect quality builds like this
Thanks brother I appreciate that!
No problem man ! Beautiful car !
2 valves are badass bro I don’t care what these people have to say 😂
I have a 5.4 2v cammed myself and she’s a bad ass truck lmao
Go check out my videos and let me know what you think bro
Yeah they sound the best. And are very reliable too. You can still see crown Vic’s out there with 500k miles.
@@MEANF150 well said my friend👏🏼
@@angelgjr1999 BIG FACTS👏🏼
The pi heads on the non pi block was a big part in your power numbers..gives a healthy jump in compression and you did great choosing the the stage 1 pi cams..Those cams offer the greatest power increase throughout the entire rpm range, not just 4500 and above...You dont really loose any torque down low with the stage 1 PI cams which keeps your steetable torque in check...The perfect cams for stock pi heads and intake.👍
If you want to break 300hp N/A your gonna wanna get the trick flow heads. The 2v is not a monster in terms of power but they are well built, I'm actually looking to sell my 96 to get a 95 so I can drop a 351 in.
Stroke that 351 to a 408! Yeee!!
PI 2v can make it with bolt ons and cams, full exhaust. NPI will do more if you PI swap it and the do the ae treatment(pi heads on npi shortblock gives a bump in the compression)
@@01Snorky a 2v will never make the power a built 351 in N/A format. With trick flow heads your looking at 380-400hp at the fly wheel on a stock bottom end 2v... a 351 with a forged crank, rods, diamond cut pistons, high lift cam, Victor carb, and head work is going to put you around 500-600hp depending on heads, bore work, fuel, lift and duration on the cam....
@@poppasunny you think??! It only has 70 more cubes. And where did a 351w come from in a debate om whether you can make 300 rwhp NA with a 2v, which is totally doable. 6 years ago i made 289rwhp 309 tq with cams not degreed.. litrerally thrown in, with some generic bama tune not for cams.
@@01Snorky really?.... You replied to my comment.... it's in the original comment.... also I don't know if your being funny or ignorant in regards to "50 more cubes" a 4 valve 4.6 makes 300hp.... a 4 valve 5.0 makes 400+hp.....
He's a good smart guy...nice stang brother...I've got a 98 GT daily driver myself...I love her..
i daily my 94 gt 5.0l. fav car i ever owned....
I own a 98 mustang gt convertible, completely stock but I plan on doing some upgrades on it once the engine is running good and I don't have oil in my radiator from overheating
I drive mine to work everyday 98 gt convertible black ❤
Sounds similar to my set up Chris. One thing that a lot of guys don't do when installing cams is degree them big pain in the ass when in car cam swap but you got the timing cover off anyway. Degreeing the cams is more important on multi cam motors. Can gain you up to 20hp depending on how off the two cams are one side of the motor is fighting the the other. Degreeing the cams is free horse power why leave it sitting on the table get those cams dialed in if you can even if its only is 5hp guys pay $$ for add ons that don't do more than that. Just an FYI for guys planing on swapping cams dial them in. BTW nice build Chris your always going to have the haters and the 2V can make HP but requires ported PI heads to breath better.
How does it not confuse the computer ?
I’ve heard story’s of people degreeing the stock cams and they would make like an extra 5-10 hp on the dyno
That is true and with the 4v you will notice that every single one makes different dyno numbers in stock form because ford could not get them degree'd perfectly at the factory.
Was about to say the same thing throw some pi heads on the non pi motor and you have more power then a pi motor change the compression
You have to degree any cam in a 4.6 to avoid PTV clearance. Made that mistake with stage 1 comps and broke a valve guide due to PTV.
I also bought a 2V (01 Bullitt) missed a 2V daily after crashing my first Gt. Keep it up.
Bro, your car is badass!! It’s all about the sound!
Sounds are about to get a lot better with a supercharger 🤩
Great setup. I have a 95 GT myself. That noise might be the idler pulley and belt tensioner. Those are low cost items and easy to replace.
Matt crow sounds like a transmission throughout Bering to me
Definitely throwout bearing.
PI heads on N-PI bottom end makes more compression and is easier to get higher NA power. Richard Holdener explains this in a video on his channel. A good tune also goes a long way because these cars come really conservative from the factory. The cam stage matters because of differences in lift and duration, on these I really think it just changes street driveability due to less vacuum on higher cams. A lot of guys daily stage 3 cams though so idk. I'm just keeping my 2v stock.
Different companies have different stages at different specs it doesn’t mean anything. Na svt (Todd warren) is widely regarded as one of the best for cams for mods. You can look up na svt cams on CZcams
Get the Torque tech kit. It lets you run a Whipple, Kenne Bell etc. You'd make up in the 400s maybe even 600s with your FBO set up all ready there
Stock 4.6 internals won't take 600hp. Maybe 450-500 at most.
@@cheeko_914 Yeah, 400 is a safe area, past that and it's a ticking time bomb, not if, but when it'll hit catastrophic failure. Pistons and crank is your first failure point on the 2v, and they like to go at 500 after a couple dyno sessions, 450 and you may get a few good runs but it'll definitely not handle constant beatings (even if you shift before redline). Forged is what you want if you're gonna be pushing enough boost to put you past 415. I've already done my research on the torktech kit and it's definitely what I want to do, but you're not gonna slap a whipple and a high boost pulley on it and achieve anything past 450, even with a perfect tune, on your pot metal rods and doodoo crank.
@@AzalofForossaplenty of guys have had 2v live a good while beyond 450 rwhp stock bottom while taking a beating. How high you Rev it and the fuel and the tune all are a big factor in it staying alive.
@@AzalofForossaalso supporting mods are a big deal. A car with long tubes cams and ported heads can make more safe power than someone who just threw a blower on a stock car that doesn't have any of that. 450 rwhp from each are certainly not created equal. 450 rwhp from a more efficient setup running less boost is gonna be much safer than 450 rwhp with more boost (to make up for not having the supporting mods). It's not as simple as this number is what you can go to anything past its gonna blow. It's not that black and white.
If I was gonna run a torque tech kit i wound run a vmp gen2r that is meant for the terminator. That would be a killer blower for a modified 2v.
I’ve got a 98. It needs a lot of work, but honestly the drivability of these cars is awesome. Might even start a series on CZcams with it.

No hating brother. You’re still driving a Mustang. They all are bad ass. You do you don’t worry about those haters.
Don’t worry about anybody talking about drag setup. Building up he suspension, gearing, and tranny, save the engine for last. Shocking how good a vehicle will react before you even toss more power to the ground.
The 2-valve doesn't get a lot of love. But let me tell you brothers....it is DURABLE! I have owned 3 of these motors on three different cars (including an SUV) and man I was able to get almost 300,000 miles on two of them (crashed one, sold the other) and the third is still running with going on 300,000 miles all original motor and transmission! Hell if police cars, taxi cabs, etc. can use them for half a million miles then anyone else can, too. The trick is to change the oil every 5,000 miles and replace the plugs/coils every 100,000 miles (use Motorcraft plugs & oils). Also make sure you use Motorcraft "gold" coolant. These engines are more durable than just about any other V8 currently made.
They are more durable than any other v8’s made currently. Chevy would be at the top right now with the LS/lt but all their V8’s have the troublesome
afm/dod and a few cases of lifter failures. Dodge also has Cylinder shut down and the manifold bolt failures. Fords coyote has coil failures egr issues and such, the most minor of the big 3’s issues though.
@@bmacster1985 agreed. The LS and LT motors were great until GM killed it with the AFM. Just like Ford killed a great V8 with their 3 valve design with VVT with insufficient lubrication.
I Had a 98 Mustang GT Similar Set Up To Urs Hell The Car Almost Looked Like Urs 2Vs Are Bad ass I Now Have Supercharged Full Bolt On 5.0 Coyote I Love It.....But I Had So Much Fun With That 4.6L 2V SN95 Mustang It Was My First Car Loved It 🤙🏼
Nice set up. The 2V isn't a powerhouse but it's a tough, reliable motor. Your dyno numbers are about what I'd expect. A FBO PI 2V puts down around 260rwhp & 305rwtq, and yours put down 20rwhp more with stage 1 cams & higher compression.
What’s up what’s up! I have a 98 Mustang GT. It’s automatic and Dynoed and tuned by Shelby Motorsports, 517 Hp wheels, 537 torque, 573 hp crankshaft. I know you started building, and honestly it’s a starter setup. But I wanted to inform for anyone who is trying to do the same, KEEP THIS IN MIND. Once your upgrade any engine part, you might be forced to upgrade something else! Thanks for sharing your cool project. Btw my car is naturally aspirated pushing that much. I didn’t just grab and bolt on random parts. I suggest anyone to do their homework on how the parts affect the car and which work best together. Trust me, it will be a pain when you encounter something simple as adding cams, valve springs and then needing to forge pistons as an example. I have about 12k just in parts on engine, tranny and gears alone. I learned the hard way. So if you’re trying to add a supercharger or nitrous, just cuz it’s a “supercharger, nitrous” please understand how it’s going to affect you. I have seen many younger people bolting on random parts or adding too much too soon, only for the vehicle to take a dump later. I think your serpentine belt might be a bit loose btw. Also, it’s IMPORTANT to tune your vehicle accordingly to your parts. Your car will thank you!
Can you share with what motor components you’re running to get 517 to the wheels all motor? That’s a lot especially through a automatic.
@@ReyesBuilt Yes; I can do that. Real quick backstory. It’s a passed down family car, I got into some financial trouble and had to sell it after I worked on engine. Somehow I ended up getting the car back since the guy had to move and couldn’t take the car. So he literally ended up giving it back to me for almost free, cuz I couldn’t pay for it. He insisted and I didn’t have it for 3 years. I have the specs and list of parts, so I’ll look for them. But I’ll shoot what I remember for now. Give me a sec. I don’t remember exact specs on most.
Bolt ons: Cold air intake, Throttle body, big plenum, pulleys and alternator is flipped around reverse for clearance, racing manifold (had PI but went bigger), stroker kit, stage 3 heads, stage 3 cams, flex plate for 10k applications, 4:10 gears, i forgot what spline, axle, tranny mods. Tuned to 91 octane, 8 miles per gallon, royal purple all the way around, dropped about 13 k in engine alone not counting behind flex plate or labor which my best friend is a diesel mechanic so he did most of work and saved me about 10 k. Tuned at Shelby Motorsports. I live in Las Vegas and for all that, I went and spent I think it was $800 for tune and dyno, about a 8 hour job per visit. I’m still not done. Everything started with my check engine light being on, due to misfire on a cylinder and showed low compression. So here I am “man I’m going to add what this one mustang guy added, which was a PI heads, so I ended up grabbing stage 3. It all went downhill from there. Cuz then I needed larger valve springs, so I grabbed stage 3 cams. Next thing you know, what I listed is in. The issue was a rocker that fell off. But because I didn’t do my homework and honestly educated myself on what each part do and affected my car, I had my car down for a year and a half. This is why I say what I said. Because it’s true. I spent a lot of money and many if not all people want a modded car, but aren’t aware of the real cost of parts, time and setbacks.
I love it!! I built several 5.0’s then I decided to buy a 2v to build and everyone laughed but I did what I wanted. Not every project has to be a 1000 hp twin turbo build….. thx to fast enough performance in Lexington for the help

Nice car and it sounds great! If you had bought a premium set of headers and the matching mid-pipe you would have gotten closer to 300. You would also be surprised at how well a quality set of ceramic coated headers keeps the engine bay temps way down. I got SLP ceramic and it’s literally amazing how much less heat is under the hood.
LIVE WIRES ROCK ! I Have 89 5.0 lx .
Very happy with wires..
You're doing good man. If mine did 280HP, I'd be very happy. Remember, the factory rated the PI Mustang at SEA 260HP at the crank. With proper maintenance, these engines are built proof. If you blow it up, you did something stupid. Thanks for mentioning the metal intake tubes soak up a lot of heat. It's all about air density on the inlet side, not max air flow.
Thanks for passing on so much info, the good, the bad and the rest. I'm looking at throwing some bolt-ons at my Grand Marquis' 4.6 - Trick Flow heads, XE262AH cams, FRPP PI intake (until I can find something better that's set up for driver side pickup), long tubes and more. Upgrade the 4W70 for the power...
And enjoy.
Screw power, sounds mean and if its fun to drive. Thats all that matters.

Love it. "you guys... shut up". lol I like the look of the drag set up. Looks good man.
Man 280 to the ground is like 325 at the crank u loose 15% with a manual transmission so a two valve making 325 horse is really good! My 10 GT is only making 335 at the crank 292 at rear wheels
3.73 gears. Best all around speed gears. I love mine even on interstates.
I wouldn't give a damn what anyone else says you do what u want with your car and wouldn't worry about what the haters say about your car they just mad cause they stuck in a Prius that car is quick and it takes more than just power to make a car quick I've seen less hp cars stomp higher hp cars all day long so let the crybabies find another channel to go to and cry about someone else shit. Mid 01-04 is Romeo. 99- early 01 is windsor 👍🏻
I'm going to guess that you're going with a centri type blower and if it doesn't come with a cooler, then E85 will be the best bet on the PI head swap. E85 will also help once the blower heat soaks and the engine is more sensitive to knock, else the timing at high intake temps would have to be reduced and it's a double negative in making power. Folks worry too much about peak HP and 'numbers' but what counts is having a broad and useful power curve where torque is made through as much of the RPM range as possible. Also if highway racing is your gig, then it's probably best just to stick with a stock gear ratio as higher gears only benefit from off the line take-off. The key to 2v is to make broad torque, not peaky power from rpm.

So I have pi mustang GT. I see your running a comp 262Ah . I myself will end up running a Trick Flow stage 1 cam . The trick flow stage 1 cams are slightly bigger the Duration @ .50 is 228 for the intake and 230 for the exhaust .It should fit with out any piston to valve clearance . You can run bigger NPI cams but ...the difference in horsepower is five to six horsepower more . The poweband goes up .

If you really wanna increase torque just get 3.73 gears. Or 4.10s even. I got 3.73 on my 96 gt and it still has plenty of top end power.

I put down 314, same car same build. 1996 NPI bottom end with PI heads, intake. Comp cam stage one cams, C&L plenum, mac long tubes. Since then I went to ported PI heads from MHS and got me up to around 325 to 330. And went from 3.55 to 3.73. You are right, 3.55 better on highway, 3.73 better around town.

You know why 2V gets Hate?? It does something that 3V and Coyote doesn't...
IT'S RELIABLE!!! 😜
I had nearly the exact same setup on my 98, except I had a 78mm BBK Throttle Body/Plenum combo...
309hp @6800
326ft.lbs. @4230 !!
And you can easily do Tens with a simple Turbo Kit, if you want.
The 3v and the coyote are both reliable too wtf are you talking about? Most of the mod motors are pretty reliable.
I got a 98 Gt with no motor trans or ecu, I was thinking of doing something exactly like what you did to yours I feel like I would be pretty happy with it
Nice ride man!!!
Thank you !
Looks sick do what you want
So I actually had a 98 gt back in the day with pi heads and intake with accufab plenum and throttle body, no long tubes just x and exhaust no cams. I actually made the same exact power, maybe the cuz it was a 98 not sure. Was also white with black leather. Badass 2 valve btw!
100 HP wet shot will do the trick, pretty cheap too. I may go to a 150 on my 98 but that's probably all the stock bottom end can handle. For big power, I'm going big block, 500+ cubic inch!
What got your numbers is because you’re making more compression than a car with PI heads and intake stock. It’s about chamber sizes.
Mine made 280whp and 281trq. I have stage 3 cams, I went with the NPI pistons on my PI heads and bumped the compression to 10.5:1 did have to notch the piston for clearance, also running a bullitt intake, 3.90 gears, shorty headers, O/R X, stock injection and SCT
Thoes shorty headers are not helping you make power. They don't really do much at all if you wanna make hower with headers you need long tubes with a long collector at the end.
@@ericgatter2830they don't make what long tubes do but a good shorty will absolutely pick up power over stock even na. The stock log manifolds are pretty shitty lol
I have the 270 comp cams and stage 2heads on my 00 and when I Dynod it running super Rich it made 280hp to the wheels without a tune but lost some torque gain hp tho
mine is pretty damn quick and its a 2v too idk why people don't think they aren't quick after a few mods, ive outran a 370z and a bunch of wrxs and a 95 cobra
Keep it coming bro 🔥🔥🔥
Whats yur drag set up size in rear. I just got my very first street car 96 gt. Can't wait to do a cam and some things. I think that thing s I understand awsome!! Great work.

damn bro you seriously inspire me and get me excited about my 98 2v everytime i watch your videos. Hoping i have some money soon to out into it. Keep it up homie
Port the pi intake makes a difference watch Richard holden he did this build and made 406hp at the crank
That is with straight headers, no accessories turning...so it's not just at the crank that is higher numbers than you'd see in the car even at the crank.

Grab pi heads off of 2001-2011 panther cars as they are Romeo engines and you can reuse your valve covers and timing cover
Amazing car, I own 1 and drifting it was easy with the stock 4.6
Yup they got good torque
Love your content
Fuck the haters bro let them shit heads talk trash i love the built man keep building her shes one badass ride🤤🔥🔥🔥
Great low cost setup. Unfortunately like everything else, money equals power. That being said, 4 valve short block (they have flat top pistons), SVO heads, SVO intake and your cams, probably good for 320 plus. PI heads flow more at lift under .500, they are actually not high rpm application. The stock non pi heads actually flow more at high lift, so they are not properly utilizing your cams though you are getting the boost in compression ratio.
