- Welcome to the third episode in the series that helps those of you who are interested in becoming law enforcement officers accomplish your goal. Now, I am in no way an expert in physical fitness, but these are some of the techniques I used to help me when I started. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey into criminal justice. #policeacademy #fitness

I appreciate this, starting my law enforcement journey soon. My biggest problem is running but here in Illinois it’s 18 minutes & 25-30 push ups n sit ups
Best of luck!
18min? lol dang that’s easy
Man I’ve been watching different videos and hearing some of them are 15-17 minute range that’s easy. Here in NY the state requires 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes some cities are under 13 minutes. Sit-ups for my age is 35 and pushups is 24 I believe all under a minute
Damn we are 15:38 here
this series is incredibly helpful, thank you sm for it.
Stretching is very important. I started running to often and got ITB band syndrome. Rest days and stretching has helped get rid of it.
Ah yes that is important! I guess I figured that was a givin lol thanks Rich's Garage
Thank you for the info sir!! I just passed the written exam and getting ready for the physical ability test! I appreciate the tips
I apply for hammond Indiana police department and found out the physical exam this sunday literally few in a days. Im not quite prepared for the 1.5 mile but im gone do my best
Eyes ahead and push forward my friend! You got this!
The instructor speaks the truth
Great video because I’m trying to get in the police force
Sir you are my new mentor 👮♂️🇮🇳 #Respect
I just did my first week of the Police Academy and this is very helpful to me. Thanks
Thanks for sharing. Glad it was helpful
Can you do a video or provide some information on the CST? (civil service test) I’ll be completing that and PT afterwards if I complete the test with a successful score.
We did obstacle course then push ups sit ups then the run so by the time we where at the run we where dead
Respect bro, you think I will do alright going Thur as a security guard next month, but I have a heart condition so hope I pass the fitness part
That is sometimes a consideration. I wish you the best my friend!
@@Justthatofficer thanks bro I will give it my best, because I want to help people
You are from Canada right
@@abhishekk.s.g5076 yes I am from Ontario Canada
Just passed it today!
Nice work!
Do you consider that an accomplishment? You haven't exactly aimed high in life
Congratulations how was it, I’m trying to prepare myself for the training coming up in June is it safe to start training now I’m 40
Your sich an idiot!@jamestaylor5341
Just getting out the army. My max push-ups for 2min was 61 , sit ups 90 & a 20min 3mile
Start drinking 17 coors lights a day like these guys and see how many you can do.
i had to do situps to get hired but to graduate there is no situps at all
the one at mine is 50 push ups in a minute and 50 sit ups in a minute as for the mile&half run I don't remember but it cgot changed to a pacer test. Tbh In no way I'm trying to be offensive but the fire academy is way harder and this is easy and kind of eye opening and worrisome
For Nevada State Police 11.5" vertical jump, 24 pushups no time limit, 24 situps in 1 minute, 300 agility test in 24 seconds, 1.5 mile run in 20 minutes. It is a big challenge for me but who does not love challenges? currently I cant do the majority; about 5 pushups and 4 situps, jogging have no tried just jet. I have 70 pounds overweight from my ideal body weight, very sedentary work where I have half day sitting in company car and half day physically working, then lot of junk food out; not too different from police routines in that sense. So my weight should be 145-150 and I am at 210 right now, but here is the kicker; I know how to get it down, 2 years ago I trained to go up mount Whitney because my first attempt in 2016 failed, was way too overweight for the challenge at 216 pounds at that time, so by cutting the crap like you said, no soda, no rice, no bread, crackers, just water, small meals of fish and vegetables, mostly broccoli, steamed nothing fried, no meats, not even chicken, lot of zero calories stuff like sauces and dressing for salads, one favorite of mine which makes you feel full and does not add weight is watermelon; was watching the calories intake and trying to live on less than 2000 calories per day, dialed it into 1400 calories and did 1 hour treadmill or 1.5 hours per day plus regular normal routines; I dropped down from 216 to 185 from January 2022 through April, no training program, no other exercises, only that diet that I made up and treadmill, just consistency and in July 2022 had the mountain as reward, STILL was hard as hell on me as my weight was in no way ideal, I felt I needed 31 more pounds off me but I summit and felt like a small (some say it is no joke and in no way small but a big deal) challenge accomplished which is why I believe I can do this one as well and then for better health choice try to hold the line then and be done with the junk; so the formula is simple, burn more calories than what you intake, but having close to 3k calories per day it is hard to burn out so much unless expending half day exercising. So I am interested in a training program for this; I may not need to shed all 70 pounds to start the academy but that is my ultimate goal, if I can drop 30 pounds again and with a good endurance training I believe I can meet the minimum requirements; my recruiter told me he will keep sending the emails every month as I asked for time to get in shape, few months probably, he said when I feel ready to respond he will then schedule test time. Thank you for this video.
I want to apply and just getting ready for the written exam
Wish you the best! You can hit me up on Instagram if you have any questions.
Hi. Is this in Canada? Does the same thing apply in Canada and the USA?
Wish you told us what a great and average time for 1.5 mile run and 300 meters.
14 and ive wanted to be a police officer since i was maybe 4 but i have a slight case of cerebral palsy but im in very good shape for me being disabled will that be a problem if i can do the requirements as is?
Hey Brandon! As long as you are able to fill the requirements such as passing a physical exam given by a doctor with everything else then you should be able to. I wish you all the best.
I cant find much on this but do you know if in Texas you have to have a associates degree in order to be a police officer if so is it just a few departments that require this?
I doubt you need it for the academy, but there could be a few agencies who require it. Although with it being harder to find officer they may be lifting that requirement. Just call the academy and any agency you wish to work for they can tell you.
Well I only got a 4 week notice that I gotta do the pt test and written test the same day. I'm gonna try my best but I can't do the minimum push ups or situps at the moment. Embarrassing ik
17 min mile and half
20 push ups
18 sit ups
65 second 300 meter
Mobile Alabama - 1.5 mile in 15:28 / 25 sit-ups in 60 sec / 22 push-ups in 60 sec / 90 second obstacle course
hey man, so i’m 12 right now and i’ve wanted to be a police officer since i was maybe 3 or 4. i’m just worried because i watched the video that was mostly based around studying and the problem for me is that i suck at school and studying, my grades arnt great except for PE,band, and social studies. i’m just scared this will affect me. do you have any tips. if i ended up become an officer i would want to move up to maybe even full time SWAT but that’s getting way ahead of myself. If you respond, thanks for the feedback and thank you for your service, keep up the great work👍🏻👍🏻
As long as you stay focused on your goals and take steps to prepare even though it’s long term you will accomplish it, keep grinding it kid.
@@StarScreamBK201 thanks man! it truly means a lot these words do. even though they don’t seem like much, you have truly helped.
hey bro im kinda in the same spot as you but a bit older. just set some goals, stick to them and youll be right as rain. gl with your studies mate, hope your able to achieve your dreams.
@@driftfishI’m 16 and I just started training and I’m gonna apply in 5 years for the ghpd💪
@@zzzzjohnnyzzzz6209 that's awesome, best of luck bro! i've started working out myself so i can apply to my state's police force when i turn 18 🤞
It's honestly silly that situps are a requirement. Sit ups are terrible for your lower back and honestly not a great indication of core strength. I know some departments here and overseas have switched to doing a 1-2 minute plank hold instead of the situps. I can hold a plank for 3 minutes, do reverse ab cable crunches, deadlifts and heavy squats, all of which require a lot of core strength and don't bother my back at all but sit ups like in the video kill me
😊😮😮😮
15 push up ??? 25 Sit-up ?? Lmfao 🤣.
Yeah couldn’t believe what I was reading lol
Do you have to be a citizen to be a cop? Can a lawful US permanent resident qualify to be a cop?
You must be a citizen as far as I know. You can check with your local academy to see what the qualifications are, but I believe you will need your citizenship
@@Justthatofficer thank you sir!
Sit ups are killing me right now 😭
F*** sit ups 😅
