My wife is taking a drum workshop from Aida this weekend. What a truly inspiring group here. I wish I could go back in time and be a part of it. So monumental in paving the way for tribal bellydance. I wonder if this group still knows how special they were/are?
Yes, we certainly do. Some of us are still dancing and teaching, and Bal Anat was the birthplace of so much more than just tribal. Jamila formulated the first vocabulary for this dance, she taught us and sent us out to teach further and further afield. I was in Bal Anat in the mid-70s, and part of Hahbi'Ru in the 90s. Danced & taught until I was 53, when I was hit by a bus and had a head injury that left me unable to perform any longer. First dancer in this is Mish-Mish, some of the musicians and dancers are still out there. Bal Anat was magic.
Pra mim é o espetáculo mais incrível que já assisti, nele contém tudo. Todos os elementos culturais ancestrais criatividade e originalidade. Amo esta obra completa e única!
Wonderful! I am building a library of various group performances, history, etc.. Bal Anat is one of the primary building blocks of the library. I appreciate the posts!
Remembering all of you so fondly at the earliest Renaissance Pleasure Faires at Black Point. So wonderful to watch! Made me want to learn and start collecting all the beautiful jewelry.
@TheLampDancer We'll be posting more this year, so keep checking the channel. Not sure on the amount of material as we are having some old tapes repaired in the hopes that we can salvage the film!
you wouldnt happen to have any contact info for any of these people cause this year is the 50th year of the reniassance faire and our goal is to bring back some old dancers and musicans to come. im a doumbek player in bellydance group at the faire and we love guest dancers. and we have john bilezikjian playing oud for us. soo we want to bring people back! :)
Is there anymore videos like this of Jamila's work form the 70's? I am very interested in that time period of the dance. I wish I was alive then. Post more of Jamila's work soon. :-)
É a primeira vez que vejo este vídeo na minha vida. E a sensação que tenho é de que esse movimento feminino está dentro de mim. Me sinto muito parte dessa energia.

Thanks :) Did anyone by the name of Babarah ever dance with the troupe?
🤔🤔🤔🤔😌😌😌😌😌😌😌
What is the name of the dancer in the striped dress, at about 13:00?
Anyone know the name of the woman who starts dancing at the 12:15 time stamp?
Who dances from 12:15-15:30? She had me in a trance.
@SuhailaBellyDance sweet!!! I will do :-)
what kind of drum is Jamila playing?

@scotiedoo13 Sent you a private message about this!
It seems to me that only one of the dancers in black-white/silver with the pot on the head is real ethnic? Love
Min 15:00
Well, definitely not Galya.
