    Why manually sidechain with utility automation instead of using sidechain compressor?

      Using a utility is a very transparent way of side-chaining and you can guarantee a consistent curve every time. It also has zero latency.
      Side chaining with a compressor is a different flavour. Since it reacts to the intensity of the signal the curve will be a little bit different every time.
      I find compressors better for doing obvious pumping, while drawing the curve manually using automation is to get that consistency and no obvious pumping

      Tbh i prefer sidechain compression by using a ghost channel which has a very short click sound. Always consistent ducking with that
